Starbucks on Lake Boone Trail - Great Atmosphere, But Terrible Service This Starbucks, located right down from UNC Rex Hospital, has a great coffee shop vibe. The ambiance is cozy and exactly what you'd want from a Starbucks--perfect for studying, working, or just relaxing with a drink. However, the customer service really brings the experience down. The staff consistently have poor attitudes and act like they don't want to be there, which makes you not want to be there either. On one visit, I paid in cash and didn't receive my $5 change--the barista just handed me my drink and said "have a good day," with no explanation. While the location is convenient if you're near the hospital or in the area, I honestly suggest taking the extra drive to another location where the staff actually care about customer service. The drinks here can be hit or miss too, depending on who's working. Starbucks really needs to address the staffing and attitude issues at this spot read more

In town visiting and visited this location multiple times. Looks to be an old bank they took over, it a little weird getting in and out due to other establishments so close. The Employee's were friendly and kept the line moving pretty quick. My drink is sometimes a hit or miss but this location nailed it! No foam, extra shot isn't complicated but a lot of locations mess it up. Great Starbuck's if you're in the area. read more

I have only had positive experiences at this Starbucks. Not sure of the bad reviews. it's your typical Starbucks. I have gotten the pumpkin spice latte a lot here. I always get a lot of pup cups as I bring my dogs with me. they're happy to get the pup cups. The staff is always so nice and professional. I have no issues with this star bucks. read more

They are not in fact open until 9, even though they advertise they are, granted it was 8:45 PM when I rolled through the drive thru, but the guy said hello and welcome to Starbucks, what can I get for you, so I give him my order, 1 drink not super complicated, then he says, we're closed. I came into the store at 7:05AM. Noted 5 employees with a 6th one arriving as I was standing there. I Didn't get acknowledged for at least 5 minutes of standing there then after one of the workers said "someone will be right with you" I continued to wait for another 5 minutes without ordering and had to leave before I was late for work. Stopped in for the apple shaken espresso and the apple croissant and my baristas were friendly, courteous and the service wasn't lengthy!

I'm afraid to jinx it, but I think the drive-thru has gotten better? They shut down the business for a while to remodel and added a modernized drive-thru order screen which may have helped staff hear the orders. Customers can actually see the orders on screen as they're entered and correct them in real time. Not a fan of the new interior, but I think it's just how all new Starbucks are being remodeled as with the new Cameron Village locale. read more

Great location & speedy drive-thru! Staff is always friendly too! My go-to breakfast item are the Sous Vide egg bites! I've tried them all! My favorite are the egg white & red pepper bites. So yummy! The bacon &. Gruyere are good too. As much as I wanted to love the chorizo & tortilla bites, I'm not a fan. The consistency of soft tortillas threw off this potential fav, because they were too chewy. My favorite drink is the iced coconut milk mocha macchiato! So refreshing when it's warm outside. I've tried it hot in the winter, and it's not as tasty. So when it's cold out, I prefer the white chocolate mocha. Now that's an addicting beverage! read more

Ordered a drink and breakfast on the mobile app yesterday morning. Arrived at the restaurant to pick it up and theres a sign on the door saying "closed due to staffing issues" and they were opening at 12pm. So now I paid for food and a beverage and theres not even an employee in the building to fix the error. I'm assuming the management team has a system they disable to turn off mobile ordering as I've observed this option turned off periodically, at other nearby locations. I contacted corporate and they refunded my money, but the inconvenience is frustrating. read more

This is my favorite Starbucks in Raleigh. Almost every day I get a venti water with my coffee. Today one of the baristas noticed me sitting down without my water, and took it upon herself to bring me one! Usually, this level of care is hard to find in small coffee shops, but it's not hard to find here! Also, they have room (see picture) you can use for meetings. read more

On weekend mornings, if you go through the drive thru, you may get treated to the comedy stylings of some really great up and comers. Maybe they are saying "mew" over and over (like a cat, get it?!? it's craaaazy!) while taking your order. Or, they give you a crazy total--like "that'll be 24 dollars and 105 cents!" I'm pretty pleased with this Starbucks... A friend of mine lives nearby, so I've only been here twice (I live in Charlotte). The first time I went, it was a Sunday morning about 8/8:30 AM & there was a long line at the drive-through. Thankfully, my 7:45 AM trip there yesterday (also a Sunday) faired better, as I was the only one in the drive-through. Both times have been consistent in that the baristas are very friendly & I don't have to wait long once I am at the window. Beverages (mine were the gingerbread latte the first time & caramel flan the second time & my friend's was the white chocolate mocha) have been perfect in temperature & taste both times. Not a bad Starbucks. Had an iced americano and a cake pop. Services was pretty quick. A lot of the previous comments mention the inappropriate/unwelcome humor of some of the baristas, but mine were pretty friendly and didn't give me any hassle with my order. Only thing I did not like was the lighting outside at night. The surrounding area is poorly lit, and there are no streetlights or anything in the front of the store. It doesn't seem like a bad area, but more lighting for this standalone store could make it a little more inviting. Otherwise, I'm happy with this Starbucks and would come back again. read more

Music is TOO LOUD and I had to request the staff to turn it down because we can't even talk to each other (and saw other people almost shouting just for them to be heard). Appeared to be very understaffed, the staff seem to be very busy but not with customers. I left. The service at this Starbucks continuously gets slower and worse. The male barista in the drive thru is not friendly and didn't even talk me after a two car in front of me twenty minute wait. All he said you owe $$$. And then had an entire conversation with another costumer while I watched the ice in my drink melt for another 2-3 minutes until I could get his attention to hand me my drink. Ugh... first world problems I know but for as much as the drinks cost it is annoying. The last three drinks that I got from here have sucked. Not up to the company standard. I have been to two different Starbucks and ordered the egg/bacon/Gouda sandwich. The last two times was at the Lake Boone location. And because we ordered in the drive thru, we could not go back and complain since we have things to do and places to be. The first I time I had it it was great. The last three times, it has been served cold. Come on Starbucks..really? I would not order breakfast from there ever again. But I guess that is my fault. This Starbucks is hit or miss. I've been here about 20 times over the last year. It's in a very busy area by Rex so I get that they can get backed up at times. I usually try to order ahead in the mornings because the drive thru line can get pretty long. The last time I ordered and picked up, the app said it would take 3-7 minutes but it took 15 minutes. My time is no more important than anyone else's but it can be frustrating that it takes almost double what the app says. I'm not sure if it's the app or the store that decides the times but it's still kind of frustrating. I've had good experiences here as well so I don't want to only say something negative. The staff is friendly even during the busy times which is nice because I'm sure it can get overwhelming. read more

Not my fave Starbuck's....I think it is just where it is situated. I think the staff is pretty on it as far as speediness but I have found that for some reason the coffee I get from here is never quite as hot as other Sbux, and it never tastes the same. For example, a non-fat white mocha at other locales taste like a non-fat white mocha. The ones I get from this locale taste like old coffee that is lukewarm. Now, if you go for a Frapaccino, you're all set! It's nice and cold and tastes like a Frapaccino that you would get at any other Sbux. Needs some consistency. read more

I normally have had zero problems with this Starbucks location, and it's easily still my favorite in Raleigh. However, I had an experience a couple of days ago. I ordered an iced vanilla bean coconut milk latte (it was close to 90 degrees out), and the girl at the window gave me a drink that was scalding hot, and shut the window before I could say anything. The staff was very pleasant and seemed to really work well together. They were very friendly with customers and kept the area clean. Loved my experience here! read more
