The Sunrise & Waverly, Patchogue, NY Starbucks. Located in the Petco and Aldi-anchored shopping center, this is a unique Starbucks that has been retrofitted into a former Long John Silvers. Back in the 1980s, Long John Silvers operated in buildings that looked like a fishing house. When Starbucks took over the building they kept the seaside architecture. When my Dad and I visited on October 22, 2024; it was my third visit to a New York Starbucks since joining Yelp in February 2011. My visit here overflowed with nostoligia that dates back to visiting this shopping center when my Dad moved to Holtsville in 1983 and the adjacent Gateway Plaza was a forest. Spending time in this seaside house on the shore of a sea of parking spaces, the nostalgic wace swept across my mind bringing back memories of visiting this shopping center in the 1980s when we shopped in King Kullen (now across the expressway), Genovese, and the stationary store; dined in Mama's Pizza, a bagel shop, and Arby's, and opened my first bank account a few feet away from Starbucks. In addition to nostoligia, it is convenient. It is close to the Holtsville Ecology Park, where we spent a lot of time. Stepping inside the seaside building Starbucks, it was stepping into a public living room. The Starbucks experience of a third place is the focus. There is no drive thru. When I walked towards the counter, I saw sufficient tables and chairs. Starbucks fans occupied the seats. Being a beautiful October afternoon in the heart of Indian Summer, my Dad and I decided on drinking our beverages outside in the courtyard. This is a cozy courtyard tucked between two pad buildings with sufficient seating. This was a nice spot to chat with my dad while perking up with Starbucks. Speaking of the beverages, when I paid the friendly batista, I saw that the $2.88 tall coffee price is identical to the price that I pay in Las Vegas. This review will be the perfect time to compare Starbucks coffee to Folgers coffee. When I visited my Dad for nine days, my Starbucks and energy drink beverages took a nosedive. In the morning we'd have Folgers coffee. When I drank this Starbucks coffee after a few days of Folgers and one time I had diner coffee; the Starbucks coffee hit me like a wave. After drinking it I felt very perked up. This was without a refill. This is evidence that Starbucks serves genuine coffee. If it were up to me, I would have been drinking Starbucks coffee everyday during the nine days I spent on Long Island with my Dad. My Dad isn't really a Starbucks fan. However, he said that this is one of the nicer ones he's been to. Your's Truly, being a Starbucks fan was also impressed with the Sunrise & Waverly Starbucks. After leaving this seaside inspired building to the sea of parking spaces, it looked like we could return to this unique Starbucks in the future which is not so near considering that I now live in Las Vegas. read more

Easily located off of Exit 52W, this Starbucks is a favorite of mine. The employees here have consistently provided me outstanding service in the decade I have been patronizing this establishment. Everybody knows my name and how I want my favorite drinks and foods prepared. For example, the baristas know that all orders must come with a venti cup of water. I don't even have to ask for it. Another example: Today I had the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew. Barista Alex knew to put the leftover cream in a cup for me. The music is hip--from 70s to present. Also, there is WiFi. I am sure to secure my data from hackers with a VPN. The place is comfortably cool all year long. It serves as a good cooling center in the hot and humid summer months. Lastly, all employees adhere to Covid-19 protocols by making sure standing patrons wear masks. I certainly recommend this Starbucks to everybody who wants a cup of coffee while in Patchogue. read more

One of the best Starbucks locations in the area. Even though there is no drive-thru the curbside pick up makes up for it. With sleeping babies in the car, swinging by to do a curbside order is a breeze. The wait time is usually pretty accurate and my drinks have consistently been crafted perfectly. Skip the long lines at the surrounding locations and try this one instead. You won't be disappointed. read more

If you're looking for a place to work, this place is alright. There are 5 tables that have seating, and outlets for all tables. This Starbucks is quite busy so there's a lot of food traffic, but if you just need to actually do some heads down work it's not bad. If you need to take meetings, then it might be a bit rowdy but not terrible. Employees are super nice and don't bother you if you're working there for a bit. This is probably one of the better Starbucks that I know of on the South Shore in Suffolk out by my neck of the woods. Yes it's kinda on the small side and it gets super crowded but that's ok. I've never had a lousy beverage here. Whether it be coffee or tea or a frap. It's consistent. Today was exceptionally busy but I remembered that two things probably factored into this. The Suffolk County South Shore Marathon and the fact that it was the day before Halloween and it was a GORGEOUS day out. But I've come here and have always received my beverage with a smile. First time at this Starbucks. Very quaint right off Sunrise Highway in Waverly Plaza. There is seating outside and inside. Looks very inviting, like you're in the country out here compared to where I live. When I arrived I waited on line for about a minute, then Carol behind the counter gave me a warm greeting, asked me my order and was very efficient! She also knew all the regulars. I've been going to this location for years, and am truly a "regular" (they all know me by name). Manny, Zach, Nick, Gina... everyone is so friendly and helpful. Like all Starbucks they have their busy times of the day. I think they do a pretty good job of getting customers in and out as quickly as possible, especially when the line is out the door. Are they perfect? Of course not, but it's one of the better Starbucks around the area, in my opinion. Also, while I don't have an issue anymore, for over a year I had a health issue and it was important my drinks were non-fat and they never made me feel stupid for double checking with them that it had been made right. Friendly!!! Always gets my order right. I live close by so it's easy for me to stop in here all the time. And I love the atmosphere. This is a full-size stand-alone Starbucks and is a good place to hang out if weather is bad. It's also kept clean, like most Starbucks. My favorite is café vanilla frappeccino with a pump of Caramell. 1/29/18 not as happy as I used to be with this location. Too crowded all the time and the newer staff not as friendly or efficient. This is a solid Starbucks location. It is in a central area though right off Sunrise Highway and Waverly Ave so I recommend preordering from the app if you have it to reduce the wait time. My friend and I go to St.Josephs college and come here almost everyday in between our classes. Normally the baristas are great, but today was not good at all. I heard the baristas complaining about making my iced white mocha because I wanted sweet cream and cold foam, which for some reason was such a feat for them. Then to make matters worse, my friend found a hair in her coffee closed between the lid and the cup and floating into her drink. This Starbucks really took me by surprise. I have to admit I really did "judge a book by its cover" this Starbucks does not look like your typical Starbucks and it definitely has some ware and tear. But when I walked in it was so cute and cozy. It was very spacious and it looked really nice inside. They really do need to update/repair their menu boards because they're very old and slanted. The tables were fairly clean the could use more care but the floor looked great and overall it was very clean. The staff greeted me with a smile and they were all super sweet. I also really appreciate the pride flag that was up. My bfs coffee was made very well and we are happy with our visit. In my opinion, this is the perfect Starbucks. I've been going since I got a job on sunrise Hwy. This store is right off sunrise so it's the perfect location for me to quickly stop. I order ahead on the app and it's ALWAYS ready when I get there in 10 min no matter how busy it is. The outside of the store looks really cute. I like that it doesn't have a drive thru, I like being forced to go in. I've gone so many times, and I have never met a rude barista. When I worked for the company, the store would get busy and customers get rude and therefore baristas get annoyed. However, everyone here is very nice and friendly. Also, one of the baristas prints out riddles for customers to solve, which I think is so cute. This Starbucks makes my morning a thousand times better. read more

The baristas at this location are very personable, and treat their customers well. Drink orders are consistently made properly. The occasional mistake is fixed without question. The only reason they are losing a single star is because they are very slow when it comes to mobile orders. They have a decent seating area, though not as big as some of the other Starbucks I have been too. Service was fast, even when there was around 5-7 people in the line. I think the service is remarkably slow. But honestly, I lived in the city for a while so I'm used to Starbucks staff moving extremely fast to keep up with the volume of NYC Starbucks lovers. So when I come into this place & the line is long I notice the staff still moves really slow. That brings it down a star.
