This place is a joke. Service has gone downhill, drinks are inconsistent (sometimes they get the order correct sometimes not), drive thru takes forever, and the baristas don't seem to care. Yesterday I went to this location - nobody greeted me when I arrived, I stood at the counter for a while before someone came over and acknowledged me, the garbage can was completely over flowing and there were spills on the floor that looked like an accident waiting to happen. I ordered a food item and as I was waiting at the counter for it I saw the barista touch it with her hands!!! She said - it didn't look like it was cooked correctly (it wasn't) so she wanted to see if it was hot or not. When I told her I saw her touch it she denied it and gave me attitude. My friend got a hot beverage that was way too hot, she couldn't drink it for 30+ mins and burned her hand on the cup. I even said "that was the worst customer service I've ever gotten at a Starbucks" in front of a barista as I was walking out and again it was clear they couldn't be bothered. This Starbucks is by far the slowest coffee shop I've seen in my entire life, not an exaggeration. I left my house 25 minutes early to be able to go to Starbucks before dropping my daughter off at school. I entered the line with about 4-5 cars in front of me. I was late that day. The approximate time per car is 6 minutes, and for those of you who have worked fast service, you know that this is a ridiculous average time. I ordered a cake pop and an espresso that day, and they left me waiting 5 minutes. For an order as simple as a basic coffee and an already made pastry, 5 minutes is an absolutely ridiculous amount of time and that adds up with every vehicle you waste time on. Do not go here if you plan on leaving within the next 35-40 minutes, they will not be any faster. 100% Guaranteed. This place needs new management. The people are unfriendly and extremely slow. Additionally, there's ALWAYS an excuse as to why they're slow and how it's "not usually like this". I've been going to this Starbucks since it fist started in Normandy park have seen many employees over the years come and go, the experiences that I have had have always been remarkable. Something has changed recently, maybe new management, I don't know but the time waiting in the line has increased dramatically, not a seasonal thing as I am aware of the daily rhythms as I am a frequent flyer. One day its the machine, another day employees not showing up. The failures are too consistent and this needs to change. The store had a rhythm and an awesome vibe and employed some of the best baristas around, it has faded lately, a noticeable loss of morale has been witnessed, again what happened? I work just up the road from this starbucks, so I stop in at about 6:45am on a regular basis. I have to say, this is likely the best location I've ever been to. I forego stopping at the one closer to my house because I know the employees at this location are friendlier, more efficient, and in my opinion, better overall. They regularly keep long lines moving quickly at times that are clearly busy, and just today they gave me an "on us" card for $4 off my next visit for a slight delay in the time it took them to make my drink. I wasn't upset about the time it took (maybe 3 minutes at the window, tops), but their customer service skills picked up what could have been an upset customer and turned it around without a second thought. There are times I sit at the window at the starbucks next to my house for 5-10 minutes just to get a fudged up drink order from a snooty employee without apology, so it's a no-brainer to bring my business to this location instead. Terrible store. Clean and recent, but getting a coffee is a terrible almost always wrong experience. I don't trust "telling" my order to someone because it often gets misunderstood so I use the mobile app, so there's a perfect standard printed label of exactly what I want. Last 4 times I've given them 20 minutes to make it, then go the store, STILL not ready. Last week I went in and stood for a while, asked where my order was (25 minutes on now) and they went over to the mobile order printed and pulled it off THEN and put it in queue. WTF! 25 minutes and you JUST looked the machine. Today (like half the time) they "lost" the order entirely (plenty of other orders coming in and going out, how do you a computer ordered drink?). So then they rushed to remake it, got one drink totally wrong and the mocha tasted like dishwater. Admittedly I've been a big fan of Starbucks and a Gold Card member for more years than I should admit. 90% plus of my experiences with this coffee chain have been good but 100% of my experiences with the Normandy Park store have been excellent. This Starbucks service and customer base is driving me to a point of not wanting to ever go back. My son and I use to go here all the time before I'd drop him off at daycare. After several dirty looks and indifferent services from the staff, I stopped going regularly. This place does not make me or my kids feel welcome. The service is generally slow unless you get drip coffee. There is no warmth from most of the staff except one of the older female staff members who is great. The food service is especially grumpy. Warning, do not get your food warmed unless absolutely necessary because it will take awhile. They do seem to be friendly to their regular crowd though and the regulars also get better service. In the morning, Its a place with old school customers who want to drink their coffee and not be bothered by folks with kids who are excited to be inside and are occasionally loud like mine. The regular group takes up a lot of space, chat amongst themselves, and stare at you if your kids are loud or you interrupt their get together in any way. Only one gentleman in that group who is there everyday smiles. He's great. Even though I never talked to him personally because we are in a hurry in the morning, I look forward to seeing him and so does my son. This just opened as a new stand-alone store (relocated out of the adjacent strip-mall). I've now tried it twice, using Mobile orders (which I generally do everywhere recently, because a while back I got fed up with having to repeat my order 2/3/4 times, and then have it come up wrong). The store interior is one of their new dark grey "cold" concrete-and-glass places which feels very unwelcoming. So, first time there, I put in a Mobile order, and went in and waited about 15 minutes - the place was super-super-busy and felt quite chaotic; customers were making lots of comments and complaining. Finally I got in line and asked the person at the register to check on my order. After 5 more minutes, they discovered that it had come up, but was made wrong. Then I had to explain to them over and over what the order was (they couldn't bother to read it printed out on the side of the drink). At the end of a total of 25 minutes, up comes my second drink - STILL made wrong, but I grabbed it and bolted, now late for something. Then a few days later I tried the same thing; this time the order came up quickly, but WRONG again. When I pointed this out, they seemed confused, like they had no idea what was wrong with, and it nobody knew how to make the drink? Eventually it was remade and came up a 2nd time, and I fled. I don't know that I'll try this location again; too bad. read more
