The larger Starbucks on 93rd & B'way closed permanently and this one was completely renovated to take out all the seating. So if I want a place to chill with a cup of coffee I will now have to go to the Dunkin with the loud music and crap ambiance. Crosstown there's a plethora of quaint, cozy non-chain coffee shops with infinitely better coffee. There's a Starbucks on Madison with fantastic banquet seating. I have yet to find a similar quality place within walking distance from me, and now even the mediocre spots are gone. Every day I'm more and more disappointed with the UWS. And I know I'm taking it out on this Starbucks, but when you remove everything that makes a coffee shop a shop I might might as well get my coffee from the cart on the corner and sit on the median breathing in car exhaust. And closing at 8pm is just icing on that crap cake. If every Starbucks closed I wouldn't miss them. read more

Small location with limited seating, but 80's new wave playing and friendly baristas. I dropped in for an iced coffee after my workout at the NYSC next door. Not much else to say. Pretty standard 'bucks menu. Got my drink quickly. Not much seating in this one. Large communal table smack in the middle, and some window seating all crowded up with wifi hogs at every seat. This Starbucks literally has no chairs and only has a few drinks. I'm definitely not coming back.

The service here is so above what you expect that I was actually shocked. The Team here works together which means that you never suffer as a customer when a staff member drops the ball. The line is consistently moving, which is great because the register area is quite small. However, the diminutive space near the register is so, in order to make maximum space for seating. The signature floor-to-ceiling windows are supported by bench windowsills which double as seats--smart! Bathrooms are clean, as is the rest of the store, and the drinks are great. I ordered the special roasted butterscotch latte with a little whipped cream and that is exactly what was served. Of utmost importance: my name was spelled perfectly! Service was friendly, welcoming, respectful and best of all efficient. I can see how and why they stay in business. read more

I am not a fan of the big guy who makes the drinks. He doesn't wear gloves and he talks too much. I also saw him taking shots of different things while he was making the drinks for people. He couldn't even decipher the different starbucks abbreviations for the drinks he was making. The counter people are nice and very efficent. They were also helping him out by preparing all of the cups for him which he also did not realize. Everything was a discussion. Just do your job dude! There was a hold up because this guy was a chatterbox. I am glad that I didn't get sick from the drink I got which was the caramel flan frappucino. Tasted like artificial caramel though kind of like those too sweet caramel werther candies. I am not a regular coffee drinker but even if I was I don't think that I would come here that often because of the guy who makes the coffee, I got my $1 reusable plastic cup from here which gives you .10 cents off every time you use it at the store but the lids are very hard to snap back in. I use it as a cup for the office to make tea and with the tea bag the top is very tight and makes it very hard to squeeze back on which is a potential hazard if you have hot liquid inside. I did notice that they now offer cake pops from la boulangerie and a bunch of other pastries but they look very small. There are many other starbucks you can go to besides this one in a 3 block radius. This one is not that great. read more

This Starbucks is way too congested. The space here is incredibly small. The set up is not very useful considering the limited space. Upon entrance, you'll notice that there is a single large, very wide, table in the center of the Starbucks. Typically you'll find small tables where people can enjoy their coffee privately, but here it is more of a boardroom setup where strangers sit side by side. It is probably best to grab and go. The staff here are kind and they serve a good frappacino. read more

Love this location. They're always very friendly and FAST! As for seating,they use the space pretty efficiently. One huge table in the middle of the room and a handful of window seats, as well. Their bathroom is always fairly clean, and I've seen them cleaning the space pretty frequently, as well. Being on the Upper West Side is great. Lots of fun conversations to overhear. I'm not a Starbucks fan, but I like the employees here and that its not as freezing as the typical starbucks. Plenty of outlets. Kinda small and not the best atmosphere here but not as cold a the standard Starbucks which is a perk for a California girl like me. There is plenty of seating but its all barstool seating or tiny little tables with uncomfortable chairs.Again, not the best atmosphere, feels like it was a small fast food joint converted. Four stars for a Starbucks?! Yeah, yeah, I know...its practically blaphemous. I mean, how can something as generic and commercial as a Starbucks ever be more than 3-stars "A-OK"? Well this one manages to. Their staff are all SUPER friendly and personable. They ask me how my day is going, and chit-chat while my soymilk is steaming. They get my order right every time. They need to hire more people or something, especially during rush hour. What's the point of mobile orders if I still have to wait in line like everyone else who didn't use it... I know it gets busy during commute hours but this happened way too many times and made me miss my trains to work. Pretty standard, efficient Starbucks. It's definitely crowded with customers, but the people who work here keep the area clean and pleasant. I wish there was a bit more space to stand in line and wait, for the line quickly folds back on itself and gets awkward. read more

The closest Starbucks to my office, and right by the main entrance for the 1/2/3 at 96th Street so you know it gets crazy crowded. If you get there when an express train unloads, get ready to possibly stand out the door, on the street. Sometimes their staff is super nice, and sometimes they are just... not. Not necessarily nasty, just not as nice. You never know. Once every one in the store had apparently called out and only one guy was there to man the ordering and drink making, and it was unfortunately not a pretty sight. Like I said, it's a busy location. In terms of size, it seems fairly average, and they just remodeled it after Christmas 2011. Meh. This review is for every Starbucks in the country and beyond, even though this particular location is the one that I go to near my favorite Upper West Side haunts and private parking spot near St John the Divine - speaking of which, I have tried to like the Hungarian Pastry Shop's version (Russian Coffee) better, but I don't. This is also, appropriately enough, my first recycled review - which is to say I wrote basically the same thing about another Starbucks from an area that I frequently visit and in which I often post Yelp reviews. So I suppose this constitutes a chain review for a chain institution (Either way, the repeated text begins on the next line). I realize that contrived-esoteric, enlightened chain-despising, snob/sophisticate, pretentious, Upper-West-Side, Yelper protocol dictates that I'm supposed to hate this place. But I defy you to find me a better White Chocolate Mocha (if you can, I'm all ears)!!! My he-man friends mock me for drinking this stuff. I tell them that the White Chocolate Mocha is the coffee equivalent of getting a mixed drink occasionally as an alternative to beer. Sure, if I want a diner-style coffee, I prefer something hot, strong, and black (insert joke here). But sometimes a large (okay, Venti) Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha (usually later in the day as opposed to breakfast) hits the spot like a pinkie drink in a bar or at a restaurant might. Perhaps I doth protest too much. Maybe my manhood SHOULD be called into question. And maybe Starbucks IS taking over the world (I found them to be a welcome sip of home while I was in Japan). I am actually surprised to say that this has got to be the best Starbucks I have been to in NYC. It's never impossibly crowded, and I think that has to do with the fact the staff are doing their jobs. You can be in and out in just a few minutes, or you can sit for a while and relax. As far as the coffee goes, it even tastes better after dealing with such friendly and competent staff. Starbucks in general is a very expensive coffee beverage that is usually good, but not great. I mean they are everywhere... so if you want caffeine in some form beyond plain ole coffee you pay the premium for convenience and smile... unless Joe the Art of Coffee is close by... But this location has consistently served up sub par beverages compared to any other I have been to... which are alot from across the entire country. Tonight we ordered beverages and first they said they couldn't make the frozen one because they were closing in an 1 hour. After insisting we were provided beverages that were so horrible that I actually took the 15 minutes to return them and then another 15 minutes to walk all the way up to the 87th and Broadway location to get replacements. This was not the first bad experience at this location, but it is our last. To be fair we always get our poorly made beverages with good customer service, but that doesn't make up for a bad tasting product. read more

The staff is very nice and friendly. I get the same Starbucks order daily, and keep it in the refrigerator over night to get me out of bed in the morning. This is the only location that always gets my mobile order ready, and has it waiting there for me before I come in. For this reason, I often walk past other locations solely to go into this one. There are 3 Starbuckses on Broadway in a 5 block radius, and because Starbuckses are all company owned (not a franchise), common sense says that one of these 3 will close. i can't help but love green tea anything from starbucks. whether it's hot or cold, the drinks are delicious! that's for all locations in general. to comment on this specific location: bad. while i was sitting at the bar, enjoying my tea and people watching, a nicely dressed average looking man came and sat next to me. after about 5 minutes, he grabbed my purse out from under me (i always sit on my purse) and ran. the employees did nothing to help me out at all. neither did anyone else in the store even though one woman gave the police a full description of the man and said she saw that it was about to happen. ever since, i have never stepped foot at this location again. read more

Weird that I would give one starbucks a better review than another but I actually really liked this one! The set up was good, with a large table in the center and a window bar table along the side. This gave a good seating arrangement and allowed customers to be friendly with each other. The service was quick and friendly and since it is on the upper west side, not too crowded!
