This Starbucks is amazing for remote work! I had to take a work meeting and this Starbucks had comfortable seats, tables, amazing WiFi that allowed me to share screen and video call with several people without breaking, and a bathroom. It is very clean and staff was very friendly. It wasn't very crowded on a Monday afternoon but my drink took 10 minutes. The noise level is also manageable with headphones. read more

This is my local Starbucks, I get my drinks here in the morning on my way to the subway. Mobile ordering works great here, my order is always ready by the time I get here in 3 minutes. On our way to the north end of Roosevelt Island, my friend spotted this Starbucks and told me that she'd like to stop there. So as we made our way back, we grabbed another free ride on the Red Bus that stops almost immediately in front. Thankfully, this Starbucks has a public restroom and it was surprisingly clean. There is a code to enter but the code is posted on the door. While I took care of my business, my friend queued up and got an iced green tea. We sat outside and enjoyed the tea and the sunshine, which was only partially interrupted by a brief rainshower as the apartment on the roof watered their plants and missed. This is a great Starbucks with fantastic views of the Queensboro Bridge and Manhattan. They have a pretty large outdoor seating area surrounded by flowers. This Starbucks is quite small compare to other Starbucks in the city. However, they are quick on making drinks when you use the Starbucks app. Plus it is only Starbucks on Roosevelt Island which is right behind the F train. They also have outdoor sitting area as well. Also, yesterday one of the baristas was kind enough to remake one of my drink which was missing. I am pleased with the service they provided. I do wish they sell more of the new pineapple/ paradise refreshers. Yesterday was first and last I was able to buy from them. I know it is popular this summer tho. This particular Starbucks is the only Starbucks on Roosevelt Island so...it's my go to when visiting my family here. I happened to catch the first day of Pumpkin Spice drinks and treats so I chose a pumpkin scone. It's delicious although it packs a LOT of calories. This location is pretty small in comparison to all the ones in my hometown area but they still offer most everything. The baristas have been very friendly and prepare the tasty drinks quickly. read more

Starbucks is a safe bet. You will always get the same product the only thing that is different from location is the baristas. I came to this Starbucks to pick up my mobile order. I ordered an iced quad espresso over ice in a venti coffee with a splash of whole milk. I walked in and I see my order with the shots in the cup under the espresso machine. The shots are finished pouring from the machine and just sitting there. The barista is listening to the orders being taken at the registers and makes those first before finishing mine. I understand that as a barista you have to make so many drinks and sometimes do it out of order. However I worked at Starbucks for five years previously and know that espresso shots "die" if they aren't mixed with water,ice,milk,or syrup. So my shots were left there for about 10 minutes until she filled the cup with ice and some milk. A dead espresso shot taste like a bitter ashtray. I pay full price now that I don't work there anymore so I would like my drink to be correct. Full of quality and it tastes good. So I try to ask the barista " Gi" Gi was her name. Excuse me but she put my drink on the counter and continued to make other drinks. I tried to call her a couple of times "I'm sorry to bug but" "do you mind" and nothing. She looked like she hated her life. She look angry and like she didn't want to be there. As if we the customers were bothering her. At HER job. Where she is supposed to be happy or could at least try and fake it if she was having a bad day. So as I continue to wait for an attempt to ask her a guy next to me asks if he could have some Splendas because they weren't at the counter and she said I guess and then grabbed them. ????? Don't understand why she is a barista if we are an inconvenience to her. So I gave up and went to the register line to ask for it to be remade. I just ask the guy if there was any way I could have my drink remade but this time maybe she could scoop the ice before the shots pull from the espresso machine, that way if she gets busy making other drinks my espresso shots wouldn't be "dead" and taste terrible and I still could drink it. The guy says yes and tells her to remake it and she says what is wrong with it I just made that??? Clearly the world revolves around Ms. Gi and she has no interest in making the moment or drink correct. She grabs the cup out of his hand and proceeds to "remake my drink" ... however now she is mad that I said something in which I waited 30 minutes for my drink. it was a very busy afternoon but she made sure not to fix the problem right away and have my wait. Then again I see my drink sitting with the shots in the cup. No ice or a splash of whole milk. Again the shots sitting in the cup passed 8-10 seconds let alone about 15 minutes. So again I go to the register line because at this point she is not making any espresso drinks made with high quality taste. And I don't want my drink. So by the second time I get to the front of the line I had the barista "Jhonal" help me. He completely changed my mood around. I told him I'm so sorry to bug but is there any way I could get a grande cold brew black? I informed him of the situation. How I ordered espresso and the drink was made wrong. How I asked for a remake but Gi was taking it out on me and pointed the drink out at the espresso machine and he took the cup and it said my name and my order. He instantly apologized and asked if I wanted him to remake the drink and he would do it immediately. I said no it's okay I just want to go can I just have the cold brew. He grabbed me a cold brew in that moment and I had it in my hand 30 seconds later. He apologized to me again. He offered me if I wanted anything else or if there was anything else he could help me with. I go to Starbucks because it's consistent but having baristas like Gi who are unhappy to be there, don't want to make things right, aren't friend, and create such a unwelcoming and hostile environment make me want to go to other places. Go to other coffee shops that will be more expensive but at least those baristas take pride in their job and care about the job and making someone's day from an experience to the cup of coffee. But then I get a barista like Jhonal who completely changed the situation from his positivity, immediate actions to make the moment right, apologizing, and telling me to have a great day. Another thing about this location is that it is messy, unorganized, and the girls looked homeless. Gi had a loose ponytail that held half of her hair? Half was out... didn't look clean at all. Just super messy appearance. Then Jhonal looked clean and fresh. Final notes are if you walk in and see the barista Gi walk out... don't waste your money,energy, or time. An interaction with her will ruin your day with her negatively and with a bad cup of coffee. If you see Jhonal go ahead and order and enjoy your experience. read more

The spot can get pretty crowded as the island get some tourists, so it might be a good idea to order ahead on the app. This is a pretty small Starbucks location. This is the Starbucks location where I work on Roosevelt Island. Pros: -Great location, situated right next to the subway station, and within easy walking distance to a pizzeria, a Bar & Grill and a Sushi restaurant. -Clean and well maintained. -Lots of seating, both indoor and outdoor Cons: -A lot of the seasonal specials, for example, the Pumpkin Spice specials they have, run out very quickly OR they just don't have them available at all! Disappointing.. -Sometimes they'll have 1 person making the drinks and 1 cashier, or I've even seen 1 person doing both cashier and drink making.. So the wait can get pretty long. read more

Partners in this location must be better informed of the company's policy. After finishing my initial order of Cold Foam Cold Brew, I went up to the counter and asked for a hot cup of Peach Tranquility tea for my free refill. The partner then charged me $0.54. I didn't understand why I was being charged and asked. She then explained that refills have always been charged - which is not true! I even told her that according to policy on the Starbucks website, hot/iced brewed coffee as well as hot/iced tea are all eligible for free refills for rewards members. She didn't care to look it up or confirm with her co-workers or anything. She insisted that refills are charged, leaving me all confused and even embarrassed. Although $0.54 is really not a big deal at all, I didn't think the partner's attitude was acceptable. Plus, I was confused myself. So I contacted the customer service not really to complain, but to clarify. The representative confirmed that my tea was indeed eligible for a free refill and ensured me that she would escalate this issue to the management. If you don't know more than your customers, at least be attentive and willing to look it up or confirm with your supervisor. read more

Usually I don't leave negative reviews, but the young guy behind the counter was ridiculously rude, and embarrassed me in front of everyone. I had ordered a small ice latte, they got my name wrong. So when they called a name similar to mine, I went to look at the coffee, but thought it wasn't mine. They put it "behind" a clear protector, and when I realized that it was mine and that they just got the wrong name, I went to grab it. The guy behind the counter shouted in his exact words "Can you please NOT do that, this is here for a reason, you don't just grab." I tried to explain to him that it was mine, but he just kept talking over me, scolding me like I'm a child. The place was packed and I felt extremely uncomfortable and embarrassed. This happened at 2:37 pm. This was my first time here, and I plan to have keep coming here for my coffee as I'm new to the area, but after that experience. I will NOT be returning. Thanks for making your customers feel like crap, especially when it was your mistake. I was on Roosevelt Island one day with some friends (ok just one), and I stopped by the Starbucks and grabbed a hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was 5 stars good, you guys. After walking around the island, I came back to Starbucks because I had to do some hot chocolate on the toilet (FYI, I mean poopy). -1 star for making me go hot chocolate, but then +1 for having a place where I could do my hot chocolate. To get to the bathroom though I had to do a walk by the counter though (-1 star). I don't want everyone and their mother to know when I need to go poopy, come on you guys!! I'm guessing on any other day this place is pretty calm. However on the 4th of July, with it raining this place is a madhouse. Huge lines for coffee, huge lines for the restroom. Can't even get a space under the doorway! I think they handled the rush pretty well though the crowds were still unbearable.
