The location can be hit or miss with parking, but this visit was one of the days I was able to get a spot by the door. After the remodel, I don't find the space inviting at all to sit (like I might the coffee shop on the next street over), but I did like that my daughter's latte now has higher protein options. Perfect Starbucks location. Plenty of parking in the back, and restrooms are accessible without a code -- both huge pluses when you're on the go. I ordered a cortado with oat milk and brown sugar, and it was made perfectly -- well-balanced, not too sweet, and the right temperature. Staff was efficient and the line moved fast. I used to hate this location (under Lauren's leadership- don't know when she left) but the new leadership team is AMAZING. The employees are kind and fast and I met Emily, who I believe is a lead. Mount Prospect is a small town but because it's near the train it is very busy constantly with all the Metra passengers. I love the location now and I think it is a testament to the new leadership team. It's cozy inside and comfortable. The lines moves fast and the food is fresh and delicious. If you used to come to Caribou (the location used to be a Caribou coffee) many years ago. It is no longer that obviously but the location under Lauren was awful even though the employees tried their best. Lina and every cashier there has been wonderful. This Starbucks team was so nice and quick to respond when a customer dropped a full hot drink cup of specialty coffee. While it was completely the customer's mistake mishandling the cup, but the team gave her grace and made her feel valued by quickly making a new replacement. They closed in Sept 2023 for re-modeling and re-opened in Oct 2023. The dining area can only fit 8 people sitting down. The food and drinks that I always order via app were promptly prepared (as always). However, the interior is now a turn-off. No more place to sit and hang out and have a coffee with a friend. This Starbucks is solid in comparison to others. I was able to mobile order thanks to the app and get my drink without much issue at all. It does fall short just because of its location. I understand being next to the train tracks, but its location also means that there is a chance that drivers will be stuck waiting for a train. Also, their location means no parking lot or drive through. The parking in front and nearby almost always offer you a spot, but it is still street parking. Still, no reason apart from location to knock it less than 4 stars! read more

The Starbucks down the street closed down and moved two blocks over into the downtown Mt Prospect area. Their new location has found a home where Caribou closed its doors, on the corner of Northwest Highway and Emerson. They're really trying to live up to a "Starbucks on every corner"...literally. I've seen the same employees move over, along with some veterans from other locations, probably here to help them get up and going. The staff is all friendly, as usual. They try and personalize your experience by marking your name on your drink so that they can address you, rather than your drinks over complicated title. Now, I'm a sucker for Caribou's cozy cabin ambiance, and unfortunately it is no more. It now has that same old cold and modern Starbucks feel, but that was to be expected. There is still no drive-thru, but there is street parking and a lot in back. *Drink of the moment: Soy latte, with sugar-free cinnamon dolce. read more

The staff works hard but there never seems to be enough workers for the amount of business at this location. The new manager, younger woman with a Russian accent, is TERRIBLE at customer service. Plus, she seems to hide in the back when her team is crying out for help. UGH. I don't need to experience poor management practices with a cup of joe. The place desperately needs an update. This location is just tiny and oddly shaped! Not a lot of space for us who like to work from Starbucks from time to time and the tables are really small as well. Service was slow and I did a mobile order so they could work on my drink while I logged in to work however it still took them a while longer to get my drink ready (I always order a caramel machiatto). This little place is not rated high enough to give credit to how hard the staff works to please the clientele. They're good. If you want zero customer service and mediocre coffee at best, then this Starbucks is for you. Staff always seems rushed and are only concerned about phone app orders. We are losing touch with face to face interaction. It's not about how fast you can put out an order, but really listening and getting it right the first time. I use this location from time to time since I work in Mount Prospect. I have never had a bad experience at this Starbucks and the baristas I've met have been helpful and friendly. This is one of the best Starbucks I've been in in a long time! The atmosphere is great. They have used coffee beans for people to take for their gardens/compost. Management needs to teach this young girl Morning crew about customer service basics. Kids temp chai tea was half foam about 1/2 liquid...impossible to not feel difference in weight with that one and mine. Told them and nothing but rolling eyes, mouthing, and attitude. I just kept it and left. As a business owner, they are liabilities. Train them right or let them go. If you actually plan to do anything, shift on 11/4/17 at 7:25am. Everybody has been nice here & I don't mind the smaller location. I don't think that's uncommon for older store fronts to be small and it's even part of the charm. That being said... I've never had a Starbucks so regularly screw up my order. I only moved here a few months ago, & I've stopped in here at least 20 times in that time frame (that hurts me to admit!), and honestly, a solid 30% of the time my order is wrong. Not blatantly like I got somebody else's drink, but here's the story: I ordered Cascara cold brews all summer (from multiple locations by work, friends' houses whatever). I know what it's supposed to taste like. It was the 3rd or 4th time that is was so gross, and I had time to spare, so I actually went back in and asked them to remake it which is really not my style. As I'm watching her make it, she put in 0 pumps of vanilla when a venti is supposed to have 3 (thanks mobile ordering app!). At that point I just felt rude as 2 other ppl behind the counter were watching this lady re make it (they also didn't correct her though...). The barista herself was super sweet, so honestly I just left with a second gross cold brew (no offense to all you bad*sses who can handle it without flavoring). As I kept randomly getting bad cascaras I was starting to question whether I knew what I was talking about at all... then funny enough a friend of mine ordered the cascara from this store a few days after tasting mine (a good one), and bam- they texting me asking what the hell my drink had been because theirs was disgusting haha so yeah, I don't know if it's an individual who needs re training? It's certainly not the whole store because *most* of the time it's okay, but gross frequently enough that I busted out my old keurig and got flavors from TJ Maxx to make my own PS lattes this year. I can justify spending outrageous amount of $$ on delicious coffee, but not when it's a gamble if it will be drinkable or not. read more

This location was formerly a Caribou. It's THE primo location in downtown MP, and I'm not surprised at all that the Bucks moved two blocks over. The Metra is right across the street. The interior was renovated, and the fireplace is sadly gone, along with all cushy chairs. They now have seven two-place tables, a window counter with four side-by-side seats, each with an outlet, and a weird U-shaped bench that usually has four two-place tables at its sides. So, downsides: loss of fireplace and cushy chairs, loss of large 8 person table. Upsides: they added a vestibule (yay! So much warmer in winter), more outlets everywhere for charging, and they have a Clover!! No need to buy a 1/2 pound of coffee for $17.50 when you can test it out for a mere $3.50 per tall. (I'm really not being sarcastic, this can be an affordable luxury without a commitment!). There is ample outdoor seating in a sunny location on the corner with awesome train watching. There are 11 tables outside. (That's a lot, people!). No drive thru, but angled street parking and a shared lot out back make it easy to run in. Nice restrooms. Friendly staff. Once they forgot my Clover drink for a long time, manager did the right thing and gave me a free drink. If you get really lucky, you can see the Metra locomotive "Village of Mount Prospect" stop at Mount Prospect!! How meta! read more
