We move to Denver, NC about 6 years ago and there was not a Waterbean Coffee here at that time. Later Dilworth Coffee Co moved out, and they took over the space. It's a little hard to find due to the geometry of the building but it right down from the Harris Teeter. Coffee Houses have evolved over the years into two different directions. The original was casual with more of an emphasis on just regular coffees with a nod to organic and fair trade. This was a place to relax over a cup of coffee , chat with friends or break out a laptop or tablet and chatch up or get some work done. The other style was on all of the different combinations you could make with coffee with flavors, different roasts, hot or cold brews in a get it and go setting. Dive throughs are common. This is like the first. Not rushed, coffee is excellent (it is Organic and some is Free Trade Certified), Not as many flavors or variations, but the emphasis is on the coffee first. Depending on the type of day and my schedule, I like both but if I had to choose, it would be the Waterbean type.

In just a few shout minutes I found out that Java Island Hut has a wonderful backstory; Kimberly has a nephew that has a illness so her family started Java Island Hut to support and help with research for his illness and a portion of every cup goes to support the foundation.
