It's Starbucks -- what can I say? If you're looking for a ridiculously over the top coffee-flavored cup of sugar, this is the place. I'm a big fan of their blueberry scones too, to the point that I can't remember the last time I got a different bakery item. The parking lot, and especially the drive-thru, tends to get backed up, especially on weekends. My advice? Park that car and get your butt inside, where there's usually about one person in line, as opposed to the ten cars waiting for the drive-thru. I can get in and out before that line even budges. The employees can get a little too Midtown though -- the last time I asked for a tray, I got the stink-eye and a blunt "No," and was only given one after I explained that I was waiting on a third drink and thus just might need something to carry everything in. People, this is not the place to save the trees, one cardboard tray at a time...I'm the customer, so just give me the darn tray and get on with making five dollar lattes. read more

The inside space is kind of small compared to other starbucks so I generally don't study here but rather swing by for the drive through which is fast on a non-rush hour! The employees here are some of the nicest in the city, and (this is a bizarre thing to find important, I know) their menu board is close enough to the drive through to actually read, even in the sun or rain. My only complaint about this location: the drive thru. The lot is super small, and despite the DO NOT ENTER signs at the end of the drive thru closest to McLean, people still try to cut in line from there. I don't let them, and all the people who do are just enabling stupidity. But if you can deal with people not following the generally accepted rules of lines, then this Starbucks is great. read more

The new mobile ordering is simply amazing. And this Starbucks is always on time and 100% correct. I order from my smartphone, drop my kids off at school, head to Starbucks, walk in, grab my drink from the counter, say hello to the crew, and walk out. They are so fast. Ordered an iced sugar cookie almond milk latte thru the drive thru. Took a sip and immediately thought it didn't taste right. I went to the gym and took it back to the store to ask them to remake it. The front counter lady with blonde hair in the front part of her head was SO RUDE, questioned me as if I were lying. She was a black lady. Asked me why the drink didn't have ice in it. When I got the drink it only had three cubes anyway. Told me they've been out of sugar cookie syrup for two hours. Then asked me did I take too long coming to pick up my order. Then asked me where the sticker was on the outside of the drink and why it wasn't still on the drink. Then got another coworker involved. The other coworker had a pleasant personality and remade a drink of my choice. I would not have gone back up there, but I ordered an iced white choc mocha two days ago and it wasn't even blended, syrup was still at the bottom, and it too only had two cubes. read more

This is a great Starbucks to do your homework / work from home. The staff is great and helpful. The hours (they close at 11:00 during the week) are ideal. Great place. Plenty of outlets for ones laptop plugs. read more

Worst coffee ever. I thought that pumpkin spice coffee was popular, but the flavor in mine was horrible. It tasted bitter and had a soapy flavor. The barrista couldn't give a damn about making the coffee. The parking lot was horrible. Overall they are better places to get coffee than here read more

Nice place to spend an afternoon in. It is not super clean, but understandable given the rainy weather we have been having. Google connection is nice and fast. Parking is a bit of a challenge however. It is a crap shoot if you will get a spot. Also, drive thru blocks some of the parking lots. PS: they now have tiramisu latte. It is pretty good. read more

Any number of CBU or Rhodes and even some UT (downtown) students could be found here on any random night surfing the web, catching up on homework, and laughing... oh we laughed. I'll admit it. I'm a Starbucks gal. As much as I prefer supporting local businesses- I just can't get away from Starbucks. This happens to be my favorite location. The staff at any Starbucks is always spot on, quick, efficient and friendly. This one is no exception. It never matters how long the line is in the drive-thru, I'm always greeted with a smile and a friendly conversation. Word to the wise- the parking lot here is a bit of a nightmare- and the reason this spot doesn't get 5 stars. It's bad enough it is right off Union at an intersection with a ton of traffic. Multiply that by the fact that when you get 4 cars in the drive-thru you cannot get through the parking lot, but are forced to sit and wait in line as well. If you've parked and gone inside the establishment? Yeah, forget about getting your car out till that line is gone. read more

I have never had a bad drink here. Never gotten a wrong order. However, I've never waited less than 10 minutes. It can get crowded but not more than your average Starbucks. Not sure what the issue is, whether it is under staffing or poor management, but I never go here unless I have time to spare read more

Starbucks drive thru on union is still super slow...i don't like waiting 20*+ minutes for coffee... What's going on in there?

I stopped by this location on a weekday at 10am while on a trip to Memphis. The drive-thru line was getting long, so I decided to walk in, thinking it would be quicker. I soon realized my mistake. The cashier did not write anything down while taking my order. After ringing it in and completing the transaction, she asked my for my drink size again - I was honest and did not upsize, but if the bottom line shows incongruities, look no further than the staff. Also I witnessed an employee dropping a food item then nonchalantly tossing it in the trash. (I would be amazed if the operations cost / business profit at this particular location aligned perfectly.) There were about 6 employees working, yet the inside of the store was of questionable cleanliness and my breakfast sandwich took about 7 minutes - again I had to repeat my order and again I was truthful, but in the absence of a receipt (I was never offered one), I can see how there might be room for abuse from disgruntled customers. Of which there were a half-dozen during my 10-minute visit, waiting for their drinks to be made or fixed. Overall: no thank you, would not return to this particular location if you paid me to. read more

I live right next to this Starbucks, and I've mostly had a pretty good experience until a few weeks ago. I literally walked out of the store with tears welling in my eyes (it was the beginning of a long day). I thought I would treat myself to some coffee on a Saturday morning (I actually checked in on yelp because of the situation, but got no response). I get in front of the counter and the drive through was busy. I totally understand! No big deal. There were about 3-4 people working really hard trying to get orders out the drive through. There were another 4 people just chilling. Talking. Hanging out in the back. So I stand there. And stand there. And stand there. I don't say anything because I'm honestly really shy and anxious. I just figure they have to be busy, right. About 3 minutes pass, and a woman walks up to the counter next to me and the worker asks if he can help her. I'm thinking. "Okay, being ignored kind of hurts, but then helping someone who just walked in? I must be invisible." FINALLY, after about 4-5 minutes of people sweeping and chilling this guy takes my order. I'm was nice and I didn't say anything. My heart was literally racing because I had to be at work for the 6th time that week on a Saturday morning, but I'm nice. So I order. I wait about 10 minutes while everyone that was behind me (in the line that had formed after I waited 4-5 minutes for someone to even acknowledge my existence) got their drinks and food. 15 minutes in of everyone in the line getting their drinks and food, I finally say something. It wasn't rude, but I said "hey, I've been waiting 15 minutes for my food item." They say "oh we forgot." Then everyone in the line looks at me like I was being a hateful person to the lady at the counter. I wasn't, I was just blunt because I had stood there for so long. After she took 5 seconds to get the food item out of the display case, I thanked her very much and walked away. I try so, so hard to understand where people working with the public are coming from. I worked at a restaurant, so I understand. I have never been mean, I always say that I appreciate their service, but this was so upsetting because I just wanted to treat myself and I'm literally ignored. So to break it down, I waited about 4-5 minutes where they take your order to have no one say a word to me and then 15 minutes to get one drink and a food item that doesn't have to be prepared while around 4/8 people just chilled out in the back. read more

I am a coffee-holic -- CANNOT start the day without a decent cup! I go to Starbucks on Union quite regularly and always go in -- generally that is an efficient, pleasant EXPERIENCE -- I get my XL Light Roast, Black -- I don't speak Starbuckian -- leave my $$ and carry on. I made a huge error in judgement & went through the drive through today -- NEVER again. 1. Attitude because I had the temerity to ask for an XL cup -- "THAT is a Vente"! 2. The window guy DID NOT secure the lid in my view, just handed it to me. 3. The degree of slope away from the building may be OK for full size trucks or SUVs but not for my Jetta 4. When I got to work, I picked up my coffee from the cup holder BY THE LID -- LIKE A MILLION TIMES BEFORE -- now, I need to shampoo my interior AND I have no freaking coffee!! I won't bother mentioning the issues of access and egress -- yes, it's a ridiculously tight layout but honestly, the very low level of driving skill in this part of the world plus the crappy streets and horrible traffic light setup ALL collaborate to exacerbate the situation; I'll have to give you a pass on that as it's not ALL your fault. The physical location is horrible. It is always packed. But the service goes fast. While the service is fast the baristas never seem happy. I rarely get a smile. They seem stressed. I think management should staff different to alleviate this, allow them the latitude to provide great service. read more

I waited the longest line just to get my order messed up. I love starbucks don't get me wrong. I just hate this location. I ordered a tall caramel brulee latte with a warm lemon pound cake. They charged and gave me a venti latte, and that's it. "?!?!?!?" I told them my order again and all she did was add lemon cake to my total. I didn't even want a venti. The drink wasn't made correctly either. They gave me the wrong drink!!! And the lemon pound cake wasn't even warm like I asked. I guess this location doesn't work well under pressure. read more

A Starbucks is a Starbucks. The parking lot can get really packed, leaving you stuck if you want to get out, and sitting outdoors is loud sometimes due to all the traffic on Union. I agree with the other reviewer that said it's much more efficient to just park and go inside. The staff is really friendly and helpful, and they usually have really fresh food. Some other Starbucks I've been to can't even serve so much as a decent muffin. This one is much better about that. I always order an Iced Venti Caramel Machiatto, and I never know how it's going to taste from this store. This is my second time coming here (and the last). First time I came was a weekend and it was complete madness to get through the drive through lane (since there was no parking available). Second time, I ordered via my cell phone on a Friday morning. It was madness finding a place to park and then I went to get my drink and waited.. saw my ticket on the counter with my name & order, checked in with one of the baristas, and 10 min later still no drink. Around 8:20 some guy walks into work, crumples all the orders on the counter that were older than 5 min and walks away!! I waited 5 more min (at this point 15 min) and finally flagged down a barista that apologies and had someone make my drink. Mistakes happen all the time, it's fine. However, this Starbucks is infamous for being a total mad house. It seems like either they are completely understaffed and the staff does not communicate well or they need to move location to an area that can manage the high traffic of customers. I've had two horrible experiences and everyone I talk to also feels the same way read more

The staff is really sweet. I've never had anything but great experiences with them. The service is rapid, especially when you order with the mobile ordering app. Just order on there a few minutes before you'll pick it up. You pay on the app and it'll be right on the counter in front of you when you walk in. No waiting in line. Which is great early in the morning when the line is out of control. read more

Whenever I come to Memphis, this Starbucks is my go to work spot. The atmosphere is conducive to getting work done. The drinks are consistent with the quality you would expect from your favorite Starbucks. I have never had any problems with the wi-fi and the long work table gives you ample space to study, work or chill. read more

I do really like this Starbucks. As a coffee buff, the flavor of the dark roast is, as with every other Starbucks, lacking, but I still enjoy coming here. The staff is always nice and represents the spirit of Midtown, which is why I'm not bothered choosing Starbucks over a local place most days. I've been to this Starbucks a few different times now. The staff has been absolutely great every time: amicable and fun. Yes the parking lot is a bit small, but it has never been a problem - I've always found a place to park, and there is plenty of space inside to sit. Today's the 4th of July, which means these people sacrificed their holiday to serve coffee, but you would have thought it was the lady at the register's birthday because of how cheerful she was.
