Stop by City and State to grab one of the summer seasonal lattes today. I wanted to try the mango sticky pudding latte. I ordered it half sweet with oat milk. It was pretty good, but I did not taste that much mango flavoring. It was quite refreshing since I ordered it iced and it's quite warm today in Memphis Tennessee. The baristas were very kind and friendly. The establishment has changed their layout of the place and they have merged the gift shop and the coffee shop together where there is merchandise and tables in both areas. I like the newish streamlined look. This is a cool place to work, study and most of chill. I know I will be back. I always have a great time at City and State.

Ok so the blueberry muffin was good but there was no real lemon taste but that is not why the stars are lost. I tried to order an iced caramel mocha and the barista said they can only do one or the other. I said so you can't ring me up for one and add the syrup and charge me for it.. and she just looked at me like it was impossible. Not helpful or even like no problem we can do that for you. I mean you have what it takes soooo.. charge me a buck and move on? What also nixed it was my friend asked if we can get the coffees to go but the food to stay and eat. Well as you can see mine was in a glass cup. I looked and said do we get to take these to go and she just stared and I said don worry about it. Also if you are going to have a puppy watering station... change the water. Also the coffee flavor was just ok. Kinda muddy and sour.

Coffee here is one of the best coffees I've had in Memphis. The place is really cute, so is the store next to the coffee shop. Drinks are not overly sweet, which is usually the case with most other lattes.

The staff here are so welcoming and friendly! The inside is very cute and comfortable, with stickers and other items to shop through while you're waiting on your coffee. Okay first let me say the vibe of this place is very cool. Right outside of the shop is a a mural that says yay coffee, I mean how perfect is that!! It's also a store within the coffee shop that seemed like it had very cool local items to buy, and I'm all about shopping local. I will say my friends love this spot and go often. There is two sides, so plenty of seating and it seemed very conducive to working from this location too. So why only 3 stars? I am a fair believer that everyone has an off day and I'm guessing it may have been it for them. I just felt like the person who helped us was extremely unfriendly. It was my first time there and I felt rushed to order my drink with her. My coffee was okay and I definitely think I would have enjoyed it more having ordered probably something different and to be fair they had lots of options. Also to note my friends loved their coffee so it does seem like they produce quality coffee here. Like I said maybe she was just having a bad day but she didn't seem happy to see our group or to help our group, it was about 5 of us. And at one point we are standing all together by the register and she basically told one of my friends to move so the man behind her could go. I mean we were customers too and we all ordered drinks and if she felt like she was blocking him there could have been a more pleasant way to tell her, she wasn't doing it on purpose. And the man wasn't upset it wasn't like he was saying excuse me and nobody heard he was looking at what he wanted to order. All and all I would say I would still come back. I really do think they are worth a try. I know baristas work hard and working with the public isn't easy. I don't know what type of customers came in before us and it could have affected how she was feeling, I totally get it and definitely feel like they deserve a second chance to try because the place is a vibe! read more

Awesome authentic craft coffee shop, truly a coffee gem in Memphis! Several options for pour over and espresso. This visit I tried their horchata latte, which was excellent, as well as their drip, which tasted fruity and very fresh. Expanded seating area is very pleasant. After making several repeat visits to the coffee shop, these are my updated impressions. I enjoyed the iced lattes, cappuccino, and occasionally some pastries. The staff are friendly and helpful. I also appreciate the individual seating desks, which sometimes feature a power outlet. You can do some work, but the space could sometimes be crowded and noisy; however, good NC earphones can wash that out. Attached is a shop with nice home gadgets and souvenirs to buy. There is also an outdoor patio. There is a limited parking lot near the shop, but complimentary parking is available around the Broad Avenue area. read more

This is one of my go-tos for coffee in Memphis. They always have creative and delicious seasonal drink options. The location is divided into a little coffee shop where you can sit and work, an outdoor patio, and a shop with quirky goods. My only complaint is that the prices tend to be a bit high. read more

I love myself a delicious latte as a treat and have been on the hunt for an amazing one since moving back to Memphis a few months ago. City & State's lumberjack latte did not disappoint. Rich, creamy (I had mine with oat milk), the nuttiness of all the different flavor notes (pecan, maple, and cinnamon). Additionally, despite being busy, the service was super quick. The space is fun and queer-friendly, with an attached gift shop that had me looking for excuses to buy people things. I sat outside in the shaded patio and enjoyed several hours of work conversation, but I saw many others sitting and working from laptops. Overall, a fun space with delicious latte options. I will be back for more. read more

Typically this place is great. I was so disappointed this week when visiting. The barista was pretty rude, kept calling the wrong name when the order was ready (and shouting it) and didn't even try to pronounce it. When I shared "did you mean to say Talia". And shrugged her shoulders and she said "no, oh well". I'm only giving it 2 stars today because the boutique side was cute. Had a variety of items and the sales lady was actually nice and welcoming. read more

What a lovely coffee shop. I didn't get to do any shopping on the other side since I had my dog with me but we enjoyed our time on the patio. I had a smoked salted caramel latte that was amazing! Highly recommend. Inside seemed busy but also like a good place to get some work done. There were a couple people outside by themselves working as well. I could see this being a great place to work outside in the fall! The staff was super friendly and helpful. Love them! read more

City&State has been on my Memphis coffee bucket list for years. For my first visit, I ordered a long black coffee which was delicious and gave me the jolt of energy I needed to power through the rest of the day. I liked the casual interior and the connected shop so I could browse while I waited for my drink. All of the employees I interacted with were very friendly. The coffee shop's setup had plenty of room to keep 6 feet between patrons, and the outdoor patio was spacious. This is a great place to start or end your Broad Avenue adventure -- I can't wait to go back and try some of the other delicious-sounding drinks on the menu. read more

Of course I recommend City and State for some of the best coffee in Memphis. If you are a coffee, snob or rather an aficionado, this is a great place to get espresso drinks, and single origin coffee. Their flavored lattes never disappoint. If you're looking for unique flavor combinations, definitely come here. There's also a cute little gift shop where I've gotten many birthday cards and trinkets for folks. Check it out next time you're exploring Broad! read more

I've driven by here occasionally as they are in close proximity to my job. I have been trying out new businesses that advertise fall drink menus. I decided to drop in today to try the smokey salted caramel latte. I love the cute little mural in the parking area. There is also a wonderful partially covered seating area with a cute backdrop perfect for photos. The staff were very friendly and greeted me upon entry. The shop smells amazing. Amazing crafted coffees!! I tried one of their seasonal coffees; Cherry Walnut Long Black, a sort of americano with plum, cherry and sage, amazing! The other coffee was a Smoky Salted Caramel latte, excellent as well. Their pastries are also original, we tried the Boozy donut; a Grand Marnier infused donut, and a Gluten Free Banana Nut muffin. My boyfriend and I are in town visiting, and we love coffee. We always wants to find "the best" coffee in any city we visit. Obviously we haven't tried every coffee shop in Memphis, but City & State did not dissapoint. The vibes are great and relax. There is the cutest store nextdoor, and most important the coffee is DELISH!! I loved my vanilla latte. It is a classic, but hard to make exceptional. The first time I visited City & State two years ago, I accidentally ordered a coffee slushy on a cold and miserable day. It was not ideal. I'm glad I got to revisit recently and this time get my coffee order right. They always have interesting options (slushies included) and this time I ordered the strawberry mochi latte! My husband and I both enjoyed our drinks. It's a simple and clean interior with a good amount of greenery. There's a nice outdoor area too.
