I was really disappointed by the coffee and service here. I ordered 2 lattes and found them to be super bitter. I also chose a snack (coffee cake) at the register and a Danish. The lattes came out within 2 minutes and I grabbed the snack while paying but the Danish takes nearly 20 additional minutes. During that time I saw the line cycle through about 3 times. I finally went to the counter asking where my Danish is and they rudely say it's in the oven. I'm thinking to myself, it's already been 20 minutes, how much more time can it possibly be in the oven? So I asked "how much longer" and they wouldn't give me an answer. I waited about 3-4 more minutes and the lady finally brings it out. Wow, they need to take some lessons from Starbucks or something. Based on my experience, I will be trying other coffee shops next time I visit Memphis. read more

Very cute and clean establishment with great ambiance. The staff was very friendly. I ordered an Americano and a delicious sounding egg white and turkey sausage breakfast sandwich. The coffee was good, nothing fancy. I was really disappointed when my $6 breakfast sandwich turned out to be a microwaved frozen Jimmy Dean sandwich. I don't think this shop gets enough credit! It's an old garage set up with comfortable esthetic, popping colors, and easy seating for someone working on a laptop or just enjoying the brew. The team members made it easy to ask questions and customize drinks. We went back two days in a row. The espresso shots were perfectly pulled and not burnt. I opted for iced this time. I love this cool coffee shop. Only downside is the parking can be challenging. I paid for parking nearby. The lighting is chill and very calming. The baristas were super nice. They have comfy chairs and an extensive menu of different lattes and regular espresso based coffees. There are pastries available in a small case. There was a steady stream of customers and regular customers. It is a average quiet place to study and coffee shop to frequent to get your daily caffeine. For me this is the best coffee in Memphis. Forget all the specialty flavors or even foam: the way to know whether a place is good is to get a shot of espresso, and The Crazy G delivers. It's a smooth, dark, richly flavored pour. Ambiance is great! It's clean, bright, and energetic, great use of a fairly small space. Big chairs are inviting, or a slim bar top with stools if you're there for a quick visit. It's narrow for using a laptop but some people do it. There are also two 2-top tables out on the sidewalk. The baristas are the best!! Always, always upbeat and welcoming, and they know their craft. A nice bonus is that they love my dogs and give them little plates of whipped cream. So now whenever we walk past the shop, well, we can't, because the dogs head straight to the door and pull to go in for a treat. So I indulge them. And myself! read more

I was so excited to try Crazy Gander (I love that name) after hearing about it last week. It's only been open for about a week, but I was very impressed by my visit. Typically when I try a new coffee shop, I go with something basic. Here, I went with an iced Americano which was amazing. The flavor was familiar, but some interesting flavor notes made it stand out from other Americanos I've had. The employees who served were so nice -- I could tell how excited they were to be open for business. I also love the decor inside, especially the map of Memphis mural, which contrasts beautifully with the bright yellow chairs. And the large garage door allows for a breezy environment when the weather is cooperating. It would be a great place to study, read or just relax. I can't wait to go back to Crazy Gander and try some of the more adventurous drinks on the menu. read more

I don't often stop by downtown but when I do, I can see Crazy Gander becoming a favorite coffee spot. They have a cute coffee shop atmosphere with barstools and a few big yellow armchairs. Seating is very limited but both times I've been in they haven't been busy so it hasn't been an issue. Parking is not for the parallel challenged (like me) so keep that in mind! I recommend the cookies and cream frappe if you like sweet and chocolatey (don't worry it has espresso in it too)! Also be sure to grab one of their "coffee shop hop" cards before September 22 to get punched at a few local spots. If you complete the card you get a free coffee! I love this idea as its a great way to try new places. read more

I had the opportunity to visit Crazy Gander last weekend on a trip to Memphis. It's always my goal to find great local coffee when I travel and Crazy Gander made me successful! It's a quiet, cozy shop with a beautiful build out. Both of my visits I ordered a drip coffee for me and an iced vanilla latte for my daughter. My coffee was delicious, flavorful, and aromatic. My daughter enjoyed her latte as well. Crazy Gander sources its beans from a roaster in one of the Carolinas. They are recording the name of each roast on the subway tile on the wall. While I did not try any food, the cinnamon rolls they had on the counter looked amazing! Both baristas who helped me were also top notch--very friendly and pleasant. read more

Crazy Gander checks ALL of the boxes for me for coffee shop perfection. It's so cute inside, the drinks are spot on, and the baristas are always so pleasant and attentive. My favorite drink so far is the Bucktown, either hot or cold. It's something a little different with its double shot espresso, clover honey, coconut milk, whole milk, and a dusting of cayenne pepper!. Crazy Gander makes a GREAT chai latte too and the salted caramel frappe is oh so good. Looking forward to working my way through the menu and trying some of the pastries soon. read more

I was suggested to try their special, The Bucktown, which features a dash of cayenne pepper. I got this hot, as was also suggested was better this way. I can't believe how great this was! I've never had cayenne in my coffee, but this mix of flavors was unique. Also accompanied with their shortbread cookie was the perfect touch.
