Didn't have food but the coffee is great I LOVE that when we ordered the gentleman walked us through his creation and what the correct verbiage was I assume it's to ensure perfect quality every time! So I value that the ambiance is quiet and relaxed. Place is steady would stop here again when in Memphis

My favorite Saturday afternoon coffee shop. Coffee is good, menu is simple and customizable. My go to's are memphis mint and mississippi mudslide. This coffee shop is really chill on Saturday's, friendly service, great conversations and they have a bunch of games. I've enjoyed most of their breakfast items- only critique I'd give is to ask for the sausage croissant to be warmed up longer (sometimes it cold in the middle).

This little spot was directly around the corner from my hotel so of course I had to stop in. The inside was really cute and had plenty of space. The coffee was tasty and came out quickly. There was merch for sale and some food to order as well.

This was first visit but not my last. I had a great experience upon walking inside it smelled amazing. The scents of the coffees was breathtaking. The store is quiet, but, spacious but very relaxing. Not to mention there was not a lot of people. The ambiance is great. I asked the owner to surprise me? He made me a banana chocolate latté with foam, expresso and chocolate drizzle. It is to die for. I've found me a new coffee haven. Qahwa, you guys are a delight. Thank you for a tasteful experience.

Today I stopped by Qahwa coffee for the first time and immediately fell in love! It sits right at the corner of Main and Adams (enter on Main), in the same building as Claridge House. I'm not a fancy coffee drinker, so I stuck with my normal order of black coffee and added the breakfast sandwich. The sandwich was a stuffed crossiant roll, but I ate it while driving and couldn't take a picture Both were tasty. They also have a nitrogen bar (and Replenish Kombucha!!), but it won't be available again until after the first of the year. Qahwa is perfect for working outside of the office, or a game of chess while you sip a warm beverage. I'm looking forward to making this one of my regular stops.

This is one of the coolest coffee shops in downtown Memphis. Apparently the place used to be a bank branch before, so instead of removing the vault they used it as a private dining area, offering probably the most original coffee experience you can get! Their Turkish coffee is amazing; flavored with cardamom and other spices, and heated in the sand the traditional way. Their chicken salad sandwich is one of my favorites, made with cranberries and walnuts, and served in a croissant. The young lady barrista is super friendly, making the experience even better. I highly recommend this place!

It was love at the first sip of the South Main Mocha! This drink is so delicious. It has just the right blend of coffee, whipped, cream and whatever other goodness is put into it! You can get it warm or iced. I also had a grilled cheese sandwich. It is so delicious and only $2.75. I loved the crispy bread and the sharp cheddar cheese. You really get bang for your buck. For the side I just got a bag of chips. The food and drink was great, but the part that stuck with me the most is the homeliness of the atmosphere. The cashier greeted everyone by name and knew what they wanted to eat and/or drink. She was kind and attentive to all guest. On top of all of that, it is the perfect work space. They have a cozy couch/lounge area. I sat in the window area where the view is so amazing. I think I've found a go to spot for sure!

Sunrise Memphis did not disappoint. We stopped in around 12:30 p.m. on a Wednesday and didn't experience any crowds or much of a lunch rush. That being said, after eating here, I completely understand why people mention waiting hours on weekends. The ordering process is simple: walk up to the counter, place your order, grab a number, and seat yourself. I appreciated that they offer both breakfast and lunch all day because it meant we didn't have to choose between the two. I ordered the chicken tenders with tater tots and an Arnold Palmer. Everything was fresh, hot, and exactly the kind of comfort food you crave in the middle of a long road trip. Kyler ordered the Kitchen Sink, which came with eggs, bacon, hash browns, grits, and a biscuit. He asked if he could swap the cheesy grits and biscuit for biscuits and gravy, and they ended up bringing him everything anyway! It was a massive meal, but absolutely delicious. Beyond the food, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I also loved the fun, eclectic atmosphere. The colorful Memphis touches throughout the restaurant gave it so much personality, and there was even a bar area that made me think this would be an absolute blast for brunch with friends. Sunrise Memphis ended up being one of our favorite surprises of the entire drive. If you're passing through town, do yourself a favor and stop here.

This place is quirky with its decor but on point with the food. Get the bacon! Always get the bacon! I'm still dreaming about it! Be warned! We were told during busy times, the line stretches around the building for a steady 8hrs at a time! May the timing of your visit ever be in your favor!

I had a fantastic espresso martini and the best brussel sprouts I've ever tasted! So I was excited to come try something else. On the plus side, the bathroom was so nicely decorated. It was also very clean. I sat at the end of the bar, beside the little section of books. The bartender was nice. I ordered the Ember&Passion cocktail. Although it was pretty good, it was quite mild. Unexpected with the ingredients in it. I was surprised that the level of expected heat was not very detectable. I give it 7/10. When I came here before in the winter, the temperature was perfect and I don't remember being too bothered that they don't have cocktail napkins. But yesterday it was quite warm in the restaurant and not having these napkins wasn't good. Nobody in the restaurant had any type of napkin under any drink! I noticed that just like mine, every glass of water from every patron had a puddle of condensation under the glass. Each time I picked up my glass of water, it would drip onto my food and clothes. My two menus got so wet. I suppose they made this decision to save themselves a lot of money. As for the food: My parmesan truffle fries were excellent!! Hot, crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked in the middle. Best I've had in a long time. The Alabama white sauce on the side was just your typical sauce. It tasted just like every other Alabama white sauce that I've had so was not disappointing. But I actually ended up not using it because it was too thin and it didn't add anything to the fries. The fries were excellent enough on their own. I ordered my burger "pink" but there wasn't any pink to it, but I wasn't that bothered about it. Burger and the toppings were tasty, except for the fried green tomato. Looking closely at the picture, you can see that it was SO SMALL compared to the size of the burger. When a restaurant does that, don't they realize that it makes for a glaring disappointment?! It apparently came from near the end of the tomato, and not the middle. If you are going to offer a fried green tomato on a burger, then I feel as if you should only use the larger slices of the tomato, and save the smaller ends for maybe putting in salads. I've always been obsessed with fried green tomatoes. After having my first two bites of burger and still not reaching the tomato, I took it off to eat by itself. Sadly, it tasted terrible! I was surprised. Obviously, they didn't season the tomato or the batter. (Salt and pepper go a long way.) The burger toppings apparently made the tomato batter not only soggy, but also this strange thick texture. Like mushy and chewy at the same time. 1/10 Worst problem: FLIES!!! So many flies! When I just had my drink but no food yet, I noticed them but was not bombarded by them at that point. It wasn't until my food came. All of a sudden I was literally surrounded by them. They were everywhere! No exaggeration. I actually had to use only one hand to eat and the other hand to constantly move back and forth over my food. I eventually gave up and set the plate of some of my fries about 4 inches in front of my burger in order to hopefully draw the flies to the fries so that I could eat my burger. Unfortunately, after only four bites of my burger, when I set it down to take a drink of water, a fly landed on it within one second. Obviously, that was my last bite, and even when I was moving the plate closer to the end of the counter, two more flies landed on it. The glass of straws was inches from me. That, and the book closest to me seemed to be where they gathered to wait for their opportunity to dive bomb me. So many of them! It turned my stomach when I realized that I had been drinking from a straw with my water and I'm sure there had been flies on it before I got there. Every person that gets a straw in their drink at this restaurant has had a fly sitting on top of it. When the bartender told me about the desserts, it turned my stomach to think of just how many flies were in the kitchen. Had I known the fly situation was that bad when I first got my drink, I would have never stayed there, and I certainly would have never ordered food. I do think it is a real shame because the winter months are a totally different experience in that restaurant. But because of how horrible it was this time, I just can't ever come back.

I ordered the Juniper Benedict and my friend ordered the loaded biscuits and gravy. The bacon potatoes were cooked perfectly, soft and slightly crunchy with plenty of cheese and bacon. The eggs in my eggs Benedict were cooked perfectly and they used a regular house-made biscuit that soaked up the egg yolks perfectly. The restaurant was pretty big, but the ambiance felt like a small-town diner. The staff was super kind and attentive, too. The cost is par for the course for a nice diner in a big city. The food however was honestly meh (in my opinion). I got a creole dish and to be fair my dish looked beautiful. The plating was 10/10 but the taste for me left something to be desired. After eating this dish I questioned if I even like creole sauce because it really just wasn't that good. If this is a preference issue, I honestly don't know. I also thought the charcuterie appetizer had a weird mix of items on it from club crackers, to meat and cheese, and random veggies. Not bad but just kind of a weird mix. My husband ordered the salmon and he said it was good, not the best he's had but it was good. Other friends of ours got the white fish among the many other dishes. I did have a salad with these apples on it which was incredibly yummy. I will say though my dish looked amazing some of the other dishes were not plated well. Not to nitpick but to want to be considered a more upscale restaurant which means charging guest more money than say a local Applebee's then knowing how to appropriately garnish or drizzle sauce to elevate at plate is important (see my picture of the chicken dish). All and all not my favorite restaurant but definitely not the worst!!
