The Drive thru is a little tricky, and it is a bit of a challenge to get into the parking lot. There is no direct entrance/exit from 39th Street. They have a great rewards program. Some health menu options with protein boxes. I do find most of their specialty beverages to be too sweet. EXCEPT their Iced Brown Sugar Oat Milk Shaken Espresso. Just the right amount of sweetness. The oat milk is so creamy. My barista was helpful and friendly and the drive thru was efficient. My go to Starbuck treat drink. read more

This is my go to place. It's not perfect, but what establishment is these days? The lines are long in the drive through but it only takes approximately 1 minute per car, which isn't bad. It's very rare to have a rude barista. The drive thru staff are usually always friendly, talkative, and happy to exchange your product in the RARE event it's incorrect. If you go in, as others have mentioned, don't park by the front door or you could get blocked in by the drive thru. Luckily there is plenty of other parking available. read more

I always get a Venti Pike Place coffee, no room for cream. I'm not into all the different fancy coffees. The one thing about this location is if you park close to the entrance, you could be stuck for a while as the parking lot is quite narrow and the drive thru gets real busy in the morning. I won't be going back to this location. I've been there several times and the baristas are pretty rude most of the time. This last visit, the barista intentionally used the wrong name on my order again. They also didn't call out the order as it was completed as they did for every other customer that ordered in store. Last month she used Richard as the customer name, and this time she used Gordon. As a trans person who obviously presents as female, it's pretty upsetting. Corey sounds nothing like Gordon or Richard. Most lgbtq customers expect a little better from Starbucks. read more

The worse thing about this location is their attitudes. They are not nice and frequently say negative things about their customers. They also don't call out the names on the drinks as they complete them so they pile up and everyone is touching all of the drinks to find theirs. Hope this changes in the future. read more

I like this location. It is handy, and I like the staff. The coffee is Starbucks, which I'm not anti Starbucks. When I need a caffeine lift (of a latte), this is one of my places. There are out side seating, and comfortable inside seating with both tables and comfy chairs.It is quiet, and usually there's a few people with laptops checking their Facebook status. It is a clean location, and the pastries and snacks are fresh. I like everything about this place. It's comfortable, the food is good, and the lattes and frozen mochas are really good. (large, blended white chocolate, caramel, calorie filled mocha)..... This isn't as close as another Starbucks, but it's worth a little more of a drive. Have you ever just looked at Starbucks menu? It can be overwhelming and if you are not a pro like me it can get a little tough. I choose to use the mobile app and order ahead, this takes the stress off and I can just pull up and give my name. For some reason this location likes to have the mobile ordering turned off and that bugs me. But the baristas are nice so that makes up for it (reason for the 4 stars). I usually go to this Starbucks, mainly because it's the closest to my house. I usually go to the drive through and they're usually friendly, quick and accurate. I had a little time to kill recently, so I went inside for a coffee. I'm not sure if this was a one-off but they were having a serious problem with flys. Your typical Starbucks chain. I prefer this location over other local Starbucks because the line is usually much shorter. Many times I have no wait at all at this Starbucks. If you are going for chain coffee, this is a good spot. If you are going for a personal feel you can try one of the other locally owned shops that tend to buy locally roasted beans. Other than that, I like this location for a quick drive thru latte. Also, my personal favorites are ice white mocha, vanilla sweet cream cold brew. During half price frapp week, they were more that happy to mix up my concoctions: a strawberry/green tea frapp and a chai/strawberry frapp. The atmosphere is peaceful. My neighborhood Starbucks. I'm didnt think I was a regular since my normal routine takes me through the drive thru every other Saturday morning but the barista's have terrific memories and take care of me every time! Took me awhile to warm up to the new store after we moved a few years ago but the staff seems to have stabalized and they finally got breakfast offerings awhile back. The sometimes forget to turn their sign on first thing in the morning so it doesnt appear open when they are. They have good outdoor seating, nice comfy seats inside and of course it always smells amazing. For a non-NW Starbucks, this shop does a good job :) read more

I'd like to preface my review by saying that I rate coffee shops/houses more on atmosphere and customer service than I do on the taste of my drink and how it is prepared. I'll take a bad drink served with a friendly smile over a great drink served by disgruntled employee. Also, I don't look at the name on the store. There are good and bad Starbucks just as there are good and bad independents. This is one of the larger Starbucks in the metro area. It's not plaza big with the plaza hustle and bustle but it's not tiny either. Seating is plentiful and quite often you are able to get one of the four comfortable lounge chairs. *Updating - second Time through the drive-through as I know the store still getting its sea legs since it's new. I timed my wait with five cars and it was 20 minutes. This is about twice the amount of time it takes and most other Starbucks I go through, seems like this one is just a little slow. I made a comment to the server at the window that 20 minutes seems like a long time and her reply was, "yeah that happens." The employees weren't very friendly save for the cashier. It's a week after opening so maybe it will get better however I wasn't impressed with whatever Starbucks training and management practices are at play in Independence. Employees just put coffee on the counter in a perfunctory fashion, no eye contact and there were about 10 of them running around completely afraid to interact. One of the things that has helped this company is the personalities and friendly interaction, the management missed this at this store. Maybe it will change over time. read more

Probably my worst experience at a Starbucks. Walked into a Baristas (Blond ponytail) having an attitude about something and one of the other Baristas having to tell her to check her attitude. The Barista taking my order (young white male) seemed frantic and unsure of what items they still had available. While waiting an extra long time to get my order (2:30pm) a gentleman walked up asked one of the 4 Baristas (African American) for a couple glasses of water. Reluctantly she made one set it down and then through his straw in the wet mess on the counter and turned without saying a word. The gentleman then found another Barista (short, brunette) and ask for another glass of water which seemd to put her off. The Barista (Asian male) making my drink order finally slid mine in the opposite direction of me (the only person waiting for an order) and walked away. It's weird but whenever I buy coffee from here I feel bad about life. It's probably because I'm spending $8 on coffee - which doesn't taste all that good. It could be because I know I can go to QT and spend less than $2 for 52oz of beautifully flavored coffee. My wife and I are less than satisfied with this Starbucks. We stopped by around 6:30 am on January 2, 2016. Both of the employees seemed put out that we were keeping them from stocking the shelves. I ordered an Americano, and my wife ordered the flat white, which was one of her free drinks for getting her 12 stars. After realizing she forgot to ask for and extra shot in her drink, she asked if she could add it...the barista promptly rolled her eyes. And gave a loud exasperated sigh. Eager to get back on the road, we decided to let it go. My wife mentioned quite loudly that the barista was obviously annoyed with her. The barista said something like, "Sorry I was annoyed, it's just that I already made the drink." As if it's so hard to add a shot of espresso. I came here because I was babysitting and the girls wanted coffee. I figured as long as I didn't have to get them to sleep, they can have all the caffeine and sugar they want. Of course they got the fancy frappuccinos and cake pops and cheesecake, and they loved every bit of it. I got the caramel apple spice because I don't care for coffee, but I love apples and caramel and it was delicious. I didn't realize it came with whipped cream until I took a sip, so next time I would be careful to request none. The young girl working the register wasn't the friendliest person in the word, and $14 for three drinks and two desserts is not something I can afford very often. But coffee is coffee is coffee and Starbucks isn't so bad in the long run. read more
