    1/2 moon latte
    Virginia M.

We live nearby and always have a positive experience here. I always order the 1/2 moon latte. Today my BF got the drip, he reported it was bitter but ok. The service was quick and we love that it has a drive through.

Located in a small location in Lee's Summit that's easy to get in and out of, Summermoon is the best coffee one can buy! Now to be fair, I lived outside of Austin TX where Summermoon originated so I'm a bit biased. But then again, who else smokes their beans? The restaurant is extremely clean with a friendly and fast staff that are happy to serve their customers. There's plenty of seating that screams "sit and act like you're drafting the great American novel." Sorry I laugh at a lot of the pretentious coffee drinkers now adays. The kitchen area buzzes with barista's flying around, grinding beans to make coffee to order. There are things other than coffee to order. Swag like Summermoon shirts, bags, and get this coffee mugs! Another option are pastries and more specifically the homemade pop tarts. Trust me when I say, get a mixed berry pop tart, you'll thank me later. It bursts with flavor, the crust is flaky and every bite is better than the last. Also they do a carry a small collection of bagels and spreads which aren't bad; I just wish they had a larger variety. But lets get on to the star of the show, coffee, shall we? Summermoon is different in that they roast their beans with a wood fire and believe me you can really taste it, especially when the closer to black you get it. I will say I'm not a cold coffee drinker as when coffee is cold, I'm not drinking it. So, I have a mental block but when it's hot I'm in heaven (hey, that's a paradox). My first suggestion is the "quarter" mocha moon latte. The quarter represents the "moon milk" that's added which is wonderful but, again I like my coffee on the darker side. The flavors are deep enough one can almost be whisked away to sitting by a fire sipping a good cup of Jo with hints of chocolate. The moon milk offers a nice sweetener while the dairy rounds out the flavor. My next favorite is the Summer Moon Latte, their signature latte. It's very smooth and while not having the complex flavor profile as the mocha, it stands out by being a lot more even experience. Summermoon offers a locally owned and operated experience which is second to none. What is key to note that when you visit them, you're not supporting some company in the north west, but your neighbors whom you might run into on occasion. Also the staff at all locations are friendly and warm as I spend time talking with anyone who looks bored (yes I'm a chatter). But more than anything when you visit Summermoon, you're getting a great cup of coffee that surpasses other options.

Super cute spot with Amazing coffee! We had the seasonal Blueberry Crisp Latte with house made moon milk and a spicy chai latte. So good we came here both days of our trip. Highly recommend!

Stopped by to get coffee on a Saturday afternoon. The vibe of this coffee shop is really cool with a fireplace to sit next to! The baristas were nice as we ordered our coffees! We got a warm black coffee, an iced coffee with heavy cream, and espresso milkshake. All of them were delicious, and service was great! Will visit here again when we're in the Lee's Summit area!

I visited on an early Sunday afternoon and the space was full. Lots of people sitting and chatting giving the space a very boisterous and crowded feel. The shop is much smaller than their Overland Park location and not the vibe that I was looking for to stay for a spell, but good for them on having a prosperous day. Summer Moon is a Texas based chain with two franchise locations in the metro. I discovered them on a Caffeine Crawl in Johnson county a few years ago and really enjoyed their story and the product. Their "gimmick" is the secretly made Moon Milk that is used in most products. Just like KFC's secret spices, it's addictive and keeps me wanting to come back. I'm not a fan of giving my money to corporate chains, but at least the franchise is locally owned and the they do a great job with presenting a great image and product. My Christmas Cookie Latte was delicious and a nice sidekick for my drive back across the metro to home. I would love to see a Summer Moon open in the Northland and replace a few of the corporate giants that are invading.

I came to Summer moon coffee based on recommendations from friends. I liked the atmosphere of the coffee shop, it was clean and felt really welcoming. It isn't really big inside but they have adequate space and seating. For our drinks we got the spiced chai latte and the mocha latte. For my spiced latte I got their 1/2 sweet cream moon milk which is the popular option, and substituted the skim milk for oat milk. I have to say drink was really good, it was sweet without being overpowering and really milky. I really liked it. The mocha latte we got the 1/2 sweet cream moon milk option as well, you could definitely taste the mocha and it wasn't as creamy like the chai latte. I liked how the had different portion options for the sweet cream moon milk, it helps customer determine how sweet or creamy they like their drinks. I didn't try any of their pastries. Hopefully I can next time.

My first time here. A new coffee chain out of Texas. Their great for sweet coffee drinks. Their signature is their moon cream blend of sweet cream. If you like your coffee sweet, this is the place for you. I did not try any of the brewed coffees. My standard drink is the Oat Milk lattee with an extra shot of espresso. I added the 1/4 moon cream to mine, and it just the right amount of sweetness. The store is bright and spacious. People were working while I was there. The restrooms were unisex and clean. There was a nice merch section. There is also a drive thru.

They sell their own coffee that they roast and had really cute merch!

I had been seeing ads for Summer Moon Coffee so I was delighted to try it when we were close to a location. The barista explained moon milk and how they sweeten their drinks. I appreciated that because I don't like my drinks overly sweet. The decor was beautiful and they had comfy chairs by a fireside place which was a nice touch. The coffee as oak roasted and had a bite to it, which I really enjoyed! They also had a drive thru which is nice for people on the go! I appreciated that you can both sit in to enjoy a coffee and drive thru, that's the best combination, in my opinion! They had outdoor seating options, as well.

The cafe is super cute! They have a setup if you want to buy any coffee beans, shirts or merchandise. The menus are larger print so it's easy to see and the servers are very nice and gave plenty of time to review the menu without pushing you to order. The moon milk latte is definitely nice and sweet which is what I was looking for in a latte. My daughters both got the different moon glacial drinks and loved them. Definitely recommend stopping in and checking it out!

First time at this location. Being a SB girly I went with what I knew when I placed my online order. I got the java chip moon glacier and a iced matcha latte. Sadly I was not impressed with the taste of my drink however my husband like his java chip glacier drink. The flavor was just not there and I even added a pump of vanilla. As expensive as the two drinks were, they lacked a lot. So in order to add more flavor it would cost more? That does not sit well with me. Also, customer service is lacking. I walked into the store to pick up my order and was not greeted or thanked when I left out. Thankfully my drinks were ready so I grabbed them and what I thought were straws but turned out to be stir sticks. Why not give me straws? They have food? That was not on the online menu. I saw a sign in the window. Will I return? Probably not but I am glad I tried it.

Okay, this is the new Summer Moon coffee shop, which I had gladly anticipated for its opening. The coffee is the same as the Overland Park location, so brew still not for the brewed coffee connoisseur; however, their signature Moon milk latte is just as great. I always drink the half moon latte and recommend it. The staff is friendly and seemed ready for this new opening. The only slight issue I have is that this location is small compared to OP, and the music could be tuned down, even when I can hear it with headphones. Additionally, the seating options stink and aren't study or work friendly, like most look for when wanting to work at a coffee shop while sipping good latte. There were two tables in back, near restroom, but one was wobbly. The other places up front were just tables with chairs that recall classic soda shop or ice cream shop chairs, just temp stop and sip chairs. Yes, this has a drive thru, but I am the type that if I want to get a sip to go, I will make it at home and take it to go. Oh' well. They may consider putting in a nice corner booth area with accessible outlets similar to that in OP, with all those nice fluffy pillows? At least we have a happening area out here in LS with plenty of places to sit and sip coffee.

It had stained preformed plastic seats, a terrible smell of industrial ammonia with terrible brews with awful day olds. Nowadays, coffee shops have as much sophistication as fancy restaurants. Gusto is one of those spots. It is very spacious, with seating for several dozen people and even has a outdoor seating area that overlooks a very nice field. It has a nice fireplace as well as little nooks and crannies for you to sit in. I give it top grades for store designer. They did a great job. The coffee itself is very good. As someone who is trying to drink coffee black, I have only found a few places were I could do it. However, while the coffee was good enough to drink on it's own, the brew itself was mild and inoffensive, even though I drank the bold Brazillian. The snack I had was called a scone, but it wasn't. It has the taste of a cookie, or those "cookie pizzas" that you see at bake sales. However, no matter, it was good. The one thing secret that you might want to try out is that on Weekdays, coffees are only $0.99 after noon, so my bill for both only came out to $3.09 tax included! I would suggest this place if you aren't too discerning about the brew and just want to get a good cup of coffee. It is worth coming to.

My daughter found her spiced chai (pictured) overly sweet. And if you look at the pic, you'll notice that they gave her basically 2/3 of a cup. That pic was taken before she took a single sip (yes, I know the straw I used to show the amount looks used; I did use it to search for a tea bag in my tea fog. See below!). My cinnamon/butterscotch tea fog was, to put it politely, unimpressive. I left it steeping at least 15 minutes because it was way too hot to drink. And then I had to get a straw to search for tea bags, because it tasted like hot foamy water and I was convinced they'd forgotten to put the tea bags in. Well, they hadn't. There was one tea bag. My standard of comparison is Gusto over by Longview, which makes the best tea fogs in town. They use two tea bags and it tastes like heaven. Whatever they served me at Whistle Stop tasted like perfumed water. So overall, I give it a 3/5. Points for location and decor and nice chairs. But the main attraction should be the drinks, and they were both kinda terrible. And there's just no excuse for serving someone 2/3 of a cup when we're paying $6 for a small drink.

Just as an FYI, where I am from, combination pho means a combination of different beef meats to include tendon, tripe, beef balls, and steak. This combo pho has chicken, shrimp, beef balls, and steak. I am not complaining though. For me the essence of pho is in its broth, so gimme some good broth and all is forgiven! A lot of pho shops mess up so they have either too much MSG that I am dying of thirst by the end of my meal, or too watery, or too rich of a broth where they boiled off too much of the water and you end up thirsty. These guys got it right! Good amount of saltiness, good beef flavor, and I'm happy to say that one would not need to add anything to the soup because the broth is tasty by itself. Service was good. I love that they have tap to pay. The open until 9 pm is awesome, especially since I am from a different time zone and I haven't acclimated yet. Room for improvement?
