After grabbing a quick bite at the nearby CFA, we popped into this Starbucks, which is situated across from Gate 1, for a coffee before boarding out of Gate 4. Surprisingly they were not that busy, so after only a moments wait we ordered. Time from order to name call was just a few moments. I have Celiac, so I am constantly worried about ordering from places that have wheat products. I watched as they made my order, and the sanitation and cross contamination policies were FOLLOWED PERFECTLY! I have never felt more comfortable eating at a nonGF restaurant. Not to mention, the two lovely baristas answered all my questions, and gave suggestions for safe + tasty drinks! This was one of the worst experiences I've had at an airport Starbucks. The cashier was extremely rude, he rolled his eyes as he read the orders back and was not at all welcoming for customers. I can typically predict the wait time, especially when at a busy airport but this was ridiculous. People's orders had been sitting out for ages, it took a worker from the back coming out to clear the area on two occasions. I ordered everything at 8:47, I didn't get my order fulfilled until 9:20. Fast & friendly. I only had 20 minutes in between flights and the cashier said I would be pushing it to get my iced latte in time because there was such a long line. This Starbucks is located inside Hobby Airport past gate 45. The service is fine but the lines were way too long. Be prepared to wait a while. This location definitely needs more employees, especially during the morning rush hour. On the plus side, you can place a mobile order and it's ready sooner than if you have to wait in the very long line. I wasn't able to place what I wanted (a tall skinny vanilla latte) via mobile order for some reason so I had to stand in the long line to place the order. I noticed there are 2 registers but only one was being used. They had 1 employee at the register and 3 making the orders and 1 stocking. I feel like the stocking should have been done before they even opened. This would have freed up that employee to run the 2nd register and get that line moving quicker. Between the line to place your order and the line to pick up your mobile order, they had the whole area blocked. It was hard for passengers to get through to their gates. What a mess! read more

I decided to splurge ($ and calories-wise) on a final cold brew with salted cold cream as the ending to a trip. Imagine my disappointment when the drink I received was tasteless! It was like a very weak iced latte. I didn't say anything at first, but as I took more sips and the taste didn't improve at all, I decided I had to bring it to their attention and get a different drink. I took the drink back to Starbucks and told the barista that it didn't taste like previous salted cold cream drinks I've had, and she said it was because they only had two salt packets left. A manager or supervisor walked by and asked what was wrong and we recapped the conversation. She told the barista don't sell any more salted drinks. I requested a pumpkin cold brew as a replacement drink. They complied and yay, it was a lot better! I appreciate them correcting the mistake, but I think they shouldn't sell the drink in the first place if they didn't have the proper ingredients to make the drink. What if I hadn't sipped my drink until I had boarded the plane and couldn't go back to the Starbucks to get a different drink? I would have been one unhappy passenger on that plane!
