The drive-through and the operation of the drive-through at the Starbucks location as a danger to public safety as it takes 20 minutes to get a single drink allowing the drive-through line to overflow onto public roads. The management does not care about wait times. The management does not care about inconsistent service. The management does not care. This is without any doubt the Starbucks MOST IN NEED of better management. Not only are they as slow as can be, getting the simplest of orders correctly prepared seems to be too much of a challenge. Example: ask for a piece of coffee cake heated, not only do you get the wrong cake, instead of being heated it was actually ice cold in the center. Ask for a large Latte and you had better not be in a hurry, and this at an off-hour. Are these employees trained before being put to work? ........and I'm a Starbucks customer in every town I go to. The drive-thru at this location always takes FIFTEEN to THIRTY minutes. It has been this way for 6+ months in my experience. I recently wrote Starbucks corporate about a particularly bad experience, and pointed out the recurrent issue, and they didn't GAF. The first lady who responded asked for my address to comp me, even though it had been included in the message (their form) and was shown below her response. The second respondent apologized and said they would send a $6 gift card. Quite frankly, after all of the poor service received at this location, and the screw ups with corporate customer service, they should have offered a more generous apology. Additionally, they said they would forward my message to the manager of this particular location, and a couple weeks later, still no word from that person, so we can assume the manager doesn't GAF either -- as all of the negative Yelp reviews indicate anyway. This is the experience / part of the note that I sent to corporate: Each Sunday I like to stop at Starbucks on my way home around 12:30 p.m., but to be honest it is always a hassle. I try to sympathize and usually I don't have anywhere else I need to be, so it's not a huge deal. Today I decided to keep track of how long the drive-thru takes. I took a photo when I pulled into the line of 7 or 8 cars, which is a common occurrence. It was 12:38 p.m. I took another photo when I finally received my order and pulled out of the drive-thru. It was 12:58 p.m. I can provide these pictures if you want to see the file details. It took a solid 20 minutes to receive 2 drinks. I know that going inside isn't much better; I've tested it before. In fact, the inside wait is longer than outside. This Starbucks location has been this way on Sundays for months now. Today was a little longer than usual. It usually takes around 15 minutes. Honestly, anything longer than 5 minutes is too long for a drive-thru, especially for a coffee shop. As an added insult, after I paid for my drinks and sat waiting for 6 minutes (receipt at 12:52 - left at 12:58), the barista handed me my order wrong. I indicated that I had ordered a kid temperature chai latte. I noticed it didn't say it on the label or on my receipt, and the container was scalding hot. I pointed this out and said, "Are you sure this is kid's temp? It doesn't feel it." She replied exactly as follows: "It should be, but I'm not really sure." Then, somewhere in the line of cars, someone honked in impatience and anger, and the barista just smiled at me, indicating I should pull forward. This made me feel insulted, devalued as a customer, and quite irate. --- My husband and I have both decided that we've absolutely had it with paying for services from companies that legitimately do not care about their customers, so we have decided to stop purchasing Starbucks at any location. This whole incident was the final nail in the coffin, I suppose. read more

Unfortunately I need to revise my now 2 year old review. This location cannot handle moderately heavy traffic and a @Starbucks needs to be able to do that, especially one located right off a major interstate. Today I watched one person at the bar struggle while there were five others behind the counter. Two were on drive thru (probably six cars in line), one on the register (and he appeared to be new and not quite sure of the register), one who didn't seem to be doing much of anything except "busy work", and one who was taking drink orders and lining them up. Doesn't do any good to write my order on a cup and have it 6th in line, only to pile more orders behind it and have customers stacked up like 737's at LaGuardia. Someone should have jumped in at the bar, if only for five minutes to help clear the back up. Never used to be this way. Staff turnover seems to have taken it's toll at this location. read more

Friendly employees! But I don't know what took so long for my 2 drink order when there were only two cars in front of me. I was at the window for a while so I started a new book I had picked up on my trip to the Book Barn that day. A trip to East Lyme means at least one trip to Starbucks. I really like this location. They are a little bit pokey, but I might feel that way because I'm a New Yorker. Baristas are usually friendly, and the bathrooms are clean. And the place always has folks at the tables, so it seems like it's a place that people feel comfortable sitting and having a chat, rather than just holing up with their laptops and tuning out the world. (The irony of that last sentence is that I'm sitting in a Starbucks, holing up with my laptop, and tuning out the world.) read more

This is one of my favorite Starbucks anywhere -- the service is always great. One of the supervisors always remembers me, even though I only go there 2-3 times per month (I drive through here for work). The bathrooms are very clean (which is always a good sign for a food establishment) and the staff is consistently friendly. Simple things, like if they are busy with the drive-thru, they always acknoledge the next customer waiting and promptly take an order. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area.... read more

The only thing that this Starbucks gets a star for is because it looked nice from the outside. Everything else was terrible. I went in to order four drinks on the way to Providence from NYC, and as I stood in line I had to ASK someone to help me as it seemed that the employees were too busy with talking to one another to help me. I ordered and asked to use my partner number discount as I work at another Starbucks, and after giving my name, the man at the register did not want to believe that it was me and proceeded to ask me 3 times what my name was and where I worked. After that terrible connection with the employee, I waited 15 minutes, and I ended up having to go up to the bar and ask where my drinks were. Apparently "the stickers never came out." I then waited 10 more minutes for them to be made, and two of them come out wrong!! They used soy milk when I asked for whole milk​ and lemonade in a refresher that I specifically asked for no lemonade. At my Starbucks and ANY other Starbucks that I've been to, if someone's order gets messed up, you are supposed to give the customer a recovery card. I didn't even get an apology. The employees just shrugged me away. Worst Starbucks I've ever been to. My visit was on July 31st at 3:58pm. read more

Wrong pricing: They charged more than the price on the menu for the croissant I ordered. Management wouldn't fix it. Got corporate involved who offered very little for the long hassle. Not impressed. This is my usual Starbucks to stop at in the mornings, and any other day I'd have no complaints except that they may take longer to push out drinks than some other Starbucks around the area. However, today I had the displeasure of talking to Cheryl at the register who was so rude to me that I felt embarrassed and stupid while ordering my drink. She stared at me for almost 10 seconds in silence before saying "SIZE??" My bad for forgetting to say which size, but it happens and there's nicer ways to go about it. She then went on to help the next customer without a thank you, have a nice day, or anything else. I wasn't even sure if my card scanned before she started taking the next customer's order, and no, the line was not long nor was the store busy. I think waited almost 10 minutes for my drink to come out while I watched all 8 employees run around scrambling but not doing much behind the counter. I probably won't be returning. read more
