It behooves coffee shops and chains such as Starbucks and Dunkie to offer their customers a superlative experience. I'm a tea drinker and, like everyone else who consumes caffeine, want it my way. Too often when I order out I'm given the wrong tea or my request for foamy oatmilk is ignored. Or it's served weak. Or cold. This is, admittedly, a first-world problem. But here's the thing: I drink two cups of tea every day. I savor them. Look forward to them. They're my moments of daily bliss; a respite from the daily fray. If you want me to pay five bucks for my blessed cup of tea (and I'm happy to pay it, always with a tip), I'd like it to be made with some small measure of care. I came here for the coffee served for National Coffee Day and found that the only coffee that was available for the promotion was their caffeinated dark roast. I don't drink caffeine so it was disappointing that they didn't have another option. I just opted out of the promotion and ordered a latte. One issue I have with Starbucks in general is the stirring sticks are exposed to everyone's potentially contaminated hands. I've been here a handful of times and what i think everyone is starting to realize with the COVID crisis is that the businesses that interact with the public that have never really done a good job are the ones now that will first go out of business. We went around 3 PM there was a line of 8 cars waiting on orders so we went inside, there were three people taking orders inside, all of them looked like they were in a video that was at quarter speed. I needed to go to the bathroom but there was a sign that the bathroom wasn't open and it was kind of blocked off but not completely. Sure enough someone in plain cloths walks to and into the bathroom and goes to the bathroom while i am in line, two ladies who also now felt empowered to use the bathroom would then also walk towards the bathroom and wait. When the man inside came out he told both of them the bathroom was closed, to which of course they replied but you just used it. At this time the young man screamed in their face that he 'was working' and moved a couple of bakery racks to further block the access then sat down in the blocked off area and went on his phone; still without a shred of clothing or anything that could distinguish him as an employee. My favorite part about the whole interaction was that because it took so long to get two coffees we were able to experience the whole thing, from bathroom entry, shit, and shit on customers. I come to this starbucks most mornings of my work week. The baristas seem to try their best to tackle the rushes and everything else that comes their way, and I haven't had any issues with service or quality of drinks I've gotten. One thing I will say and feel almost obliged to mention, there is a blond woman who seems to be a higher-up (which is surprising considering her behavior) who I've noticed several times now; she's memorable because of the way that the team's energy shifts the moment she walks in. Just the other day I came in to get my usual coffee and when she came in there was just an immediate and tangible sense of stress/dread in the room. This is concerning for me, and I felt the need to write a review because I have four kids and would do this for them if it meant that a change would take place. These kids deserve better than this. Its a Starbucks. ... Okay. So its a pretty clean, pretty busy Starbucks located just off of 84 near the NY-CT State line. This has become a semi-regular stop for me when traveling from Boston to NJ. Good place to grab a quick caffeine kick and make a bathroom break. So the lines here can be fairly hit or miss. Sometimes its dead in here but typically I seem to walk in here with at least half a dozen people in front of me. No deduction in stars there though, because they do a great job keeping the line moving and getting the drinks out, without sacrificing any of the quality you'd expect. The minus 1 on the star rating is for the bathrooms here. They're never dirty, per se, but they never really seem too clean. And with gender specific, one-person-at-a-time facilities, you can sometimes find yourself waiting in a line longer than for the coffee. I come here when my favorite location is full. The managers know what they're doing but some of the baristas simply don't care. The staff at this location are usually quick to serve and they are friendly. Nice place to visit. Unfortunately, the garbage cans are often overflowing, even during slower traffic times (like right now, at 2:45pm on a Wednesday afternoon). And, the bathrooms are often not a room you'd want to need to visit. I am a Starbucks fan across the country (aside from the new Rewards Points system which is robbery compared to the old plan), and this spot is convenient. Over the course of about three years my love for Starbucks has deteriorated. I do however pop in once in a while on my way to work for a quick iced coffee, but ever since I gave them another shot (as of lately) it's been absolutely horrible. I actually enjoy DD coffee because they don't suck at making coffee for people the right way. In any case, I've come to the exit 2 location plenty of times in the past, leaving a huge gap from the last time I was there until about two weeks ago. It's pumpkin season, so I stopped by to get a pumpkin mocha iced coffee black, normally a fan favorite of the season. I was also curious how much Starbucks supposedly "changed" their pumpkin spice flavoring this year, because you know, apparently they weren't using legitimate pumpkins in the past. Fake pumpkins in a fake flavoring, genius. The barista was nice while I placed my order and waited. After five minutes my name was called and my coffee was on the counter. After one sip I wanted to throw it out, but I figured, "hey, maybe all of the flavoring is just stuck in one area of the cup, I'll mix it up on my way out and it'll be fine on the way to work." I've never been more wrong in my life. This iced coffee tasted like Starbucks added like 18 pumps of grapefruit flavoring to a black coffee, I kid you not. It was by far the most DISGUSTING drink I've ever had from them, and I've had the same thing in the past with no issues. I don't know what they did, or how they made it, but they better just plain stop doing it. A few days later I figured I'd stop by and get a mocha iced coffee black, a staple favorite of mine. Again, after ordering it, it came out pretty quickly and I was on my way. I didn't have my first sip until I got into the car, which was a mistake because I should've done it while still inside Starbucks. 90% mocha syrup, 10% coffee, not surprised.
