Absolutely loved Grounds Donut House in Danbury, CT! Every donut I tried was fresh, soft, and incredibly fluffy. The strawberry cinnamon donut was my favorite, and the matcha drink was the perfect pairing. The pink décor and cheerful atmosphere made the experience even better. My only tip is to get there early--I visited in the early afternoon, and they had already sold out of most of their donuts. I can't wait to come back! read more

Its just another Instagram donut shop. A knock off of crazy donut in new haven. Some flavors were okay but most were sickeningly sweet. I didn't like this location. Donuts are either stale or scarce after 9am. Their green tea is weird and goes straight through me. Id rather go to a dunkin. read more

Donuts are one of my favorite things to eat!! I have been wanting to visit Grounds Donut house for so long! My son had an appointment in Danbury, so I knew I had to stop in after! The space is really nice with plenty of indoor seating! I ordered a sandwich and even though the grill wasn't on the owner made me a sandwich anyways!! He was so nice and the sandwich was so good. I had heard great things about Grounds and finally stopped in to see what all the fuss was about. What a treat. I'm a coffee snob and am pretty dismissive of what is served in the USA. (Visits to Mexico and Italy ruined me). Just got a coffee black, and was impressed. I bought a Boston Cream and a donut topped with chocolate and cherries. Both were fresh, bold in taste, and no skimping of cream, chocolate and cherries. Two workers were behind the counter and they were welcoming and worked as a team. An enjoyable outing. read more

It's so weird to me that this is in the middle of Stanziatos/the Latin restaurant-club-I'm not sure what...however that being said, the coffee here slaps. There are few places with consistent, inexpensive, and SOLIDLY GOOD plain drip coffee, and this is the place. Paired with one of their donuts (I prefer the simpler ones...save the Instagram-worthy fruity pebbles donuts for the influencers and the kids) it's truly sublime. The donuts are the light, fried, yeasted kind; and they are good...like an elevated Dunkin Donuts good. Seems like it would be a good spot to park your laptop for a while if you work remote. The donuts are absolutely gorgeous to look at but I just never care for the taste. I understand that donuts are sweet but these are so sweet you only taste the flavor of sugar if that makes sense. The mint one really just wasn't good, it had a chemical taste to it. I ordered like a cinnamon churro specialty coffee and didn't finish it. The decor and place is so cute though. Maybe I'll try a more plain donut so I can move past the sweetness taste. It's also pretty pricey to try out if sweets aren't your thing. Staff here were so kind and friendly! The donut flavors were varied and included several fun specials. If you can't decide (and somehow resist buying them all) there were special mini donuts at 6 for $10-fried ice cream, a Jaws homage, Swedish Fish, and sprinkles. I may have made a few boxes of purchases... The drink menu also had so many delicious and unique options (like Coconut Cream Pie lattes and Strawberry Rose cold brew) that I was tempted to get more than one, and did go back to the counter later for The Bacon and Tomato Melt--a decadent breakfast sandwich on a donut. I ordered my sandwich for my long drive home, and it was such a luxury that I'm already looking forward to my next visit. Very welcoming decor with a marble bar, loved the sugary decor and the punk pop playlist playing--a perfect stop if you want a treat after seeing Superman and want to live in "kindness is the new punk rock" a little longer after leaving the theater. Testing out four Thanksgiving donuts today as we travel en-route to PA. Cranberry French toast is sweet and we split it into quarters! We got the churro donut on the recommendation from the employee ! They had four or five seasonal/holiday flavors and we had to test out a few. Was sooo excited to try! Vibes were amazing first of all staff is welcoming and knowledgeable. Donuts were all beautiful and so hard to choose from! They have bagels on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday so I got a pretty good blueberry bagel. I felt like the other bagel flavors didn't have enough toppings to be truly a "garlic bagel" or an "everything bagel". The volume and texture of the dough was beautiful though. The yeasts donut structure was soooo fluffy and perfect. Disappointed I didn't go for the bacon egg and cheese on a donut, will be back to try it for sure read more

Finally stopped in at Grounds. I say finally because I've avoided it in fear of putting on weight. Two folks were working the counter and they were super. Friendly and helpful as I asked about the coffee. I wound up getting 2 donuts -- Boston Creme and one incredible black cherry confection. Had a regular coffee, which was one of the best cuppas I've had around Danbury. The donuts? Well, come on. Incredible. Fresh, no weird chemical taste that you get at the chains. The cost? These donuts are the size of your face and they don't disappoint! Pre ordered a six pack before they sold out and I'm happy I did! I was super shocked at what I paid for just 6 but once I picked them up I understood just why! They're HUGE and the pics don't do them justice! We've been meaning to try Grounds for so long but we always remember after 3pm when they're already closed. Huge tip: if there's something specific you want, order ahead because these guys sell out fast! Love the vibes here and the neon sign, makes it so fun! My only complaint here is that they would somehow someway be open or have donuts available after getting a pizza next door. Maybe doing a Stanziato collab just for the customers hehe! That's all! They rotate their selection of specialty donuts every week which keeps it fun and makes you any to keep going back. They have their staple donuts (like churro, Boston cream, frosted, fruity pebbles, maple bacon, etc) but each week they have a few fun/crazy options like French toast, Cookie Monster, apple fritter, chocolate espresso, and so many others! My favorite thing they do is the holiday half dozen. On Halloween for example they will sell a box of 6 donuts all Halloween themed. I got the Christmas and thanksgiving boxes and they were a hit at the family parties! Also they make super convenient to order. You can simply go online and place an order and walk in and pick up. Grounds is such a beloved donut place, that I fully expected to give a 5 Star review. We were traveling from the Hartford area on our way to our vacation home, and I arrived late in the afternoon. The donut, etc. selection was probably one third of what was available at opening. But they had great looking Apple fritters, which I love. It didn't just look great. It tasted great. It had a fantastic, knobby outer texture, and it was soft inside. Awesome color and Icing. Plenty of tasty chopped apples. A 5 Star Apple Fritter. So why isn't this a 5 Star review? I also ordered a black iced coffee or cold brew. I have basically drunk two black iced coffees per day for a good solid decade. I brew coffee at home using different methods, and I buy coffee at many different shops. This was the worst black iced coffee I can remember having in a long time. It had a tin sort of flavor. I'm basically addicted to coffee, and I only drank a third of it. I'm not sure if it was a one-off bad batch, or a coffee selection, process or equipment issue. They may want to check all of this though. I would normally give a great donut place 5 Stars even if they had average coffee. But I've got to give 4 Stars based upon my coffee experience. I'm sure I'll return for a donut on my way out of state, and I'll give the iced coffee another try then. read more

The only reason this wasn't a perfect experience is because I foolishly came here in the afternoon, when pickings were slim and the donuts weren't quite as fresh. And let me be clear - this place is a vibe for sure. I'm definitely returning at some point, though much earlier in the day. My mom and I stopped by here for dessert after a Mother's Day lunch nearby (we bypassed a pretty legit looking dessert menu at an Italian restaurant featuring mini cannolis; sometimes sacrifices must be made). Grounds had been SLIGHTLY on my radar, and we'd passed it a few times before on the way to other places when I've come up to visit. From the outside (and inside, I've confirmed), it seems out of place - this is absolutely an establishment I'd expect to see on the boardwalk of hipster paradise Asbury Park, not right off a highway in a generic business strip mall. I was immediately at ease when I walked in and heard the opening chords of Brain Stew from Green Day (from the slightly but not egregiously underrated Insomniac album). I am an unapologetic pop punker child of the late 90s who spent a significant portion of high school in mosh pits staring at nipple piercings and mohawks, so little touches like that do the world for me. We came in around 1PM, which is definitely too late to really get a legit sample size of donuts to work with. There were maybe five flavors available, and I went with the Fruity Pebbles. It was tasty, but I'm sure tastier a few hours earlier. The frosting was starting to get a little cracked, falling off in larger chunks when the donut was bitten into. As a personal preference, I also tend to like donuts that aren't quite as cakey as this, but the fact that I still thought this was a solid pastry overall really speaks to the quality. My stance on this kind of place? If you're going to primarily sell breakfast-y type food - and you're not going to replenish the inventory throughout the day in any meaningful way - I think they should be offering a $1 discount or something at a certain point, maybe 12PMish. My dad used to work at a bagel place that had the same issue; they'd have yowly customers upset that their 5PM bagel wasn't fresh. Well, yeah, it's 5PM, but there's no reason you should be paying full price for something that by definition isn't as good as it was earlier in the day. The guy behind the counter was very pleasant and accommodating (he deftly/effortlessly handled my mother's order, which consisted of her silently pointing at donuts), so no service issues to be found. Bottom line - these are a little overpriced but a solid recommendation nonetheless. read more

SUCH a fun treat! We love Grounds and come every few weeks to enjoy our favorite classic flavors, as well as the new flavors on rotation. Some of my family's favorites are the Coffee Cake donut, the Churro donut, and the Maple Bacon! Their rotating flavors are fun too, and switch up each week! Grounds does NOT skimp when it comes to the donuts. If your donut has a filling (i.e. Boston creme, jelly, Nutella, etc.) then the donut will be FULL. The donuts in general are also very, very large. Prices are on the high-end for sure, but Grounds definetly makes sure you get a lot of bang for your buck and this is not an establishment that suffers from "shrink-flation!" I personally love their coffee. They have a nice Guatemala roast, and their specialty lattes are delicious but on the sweeter side. My favorite is the Cinnamon Toast latte (iced), and I personally ask for half-sweetness when I order it. The shop itself has a super cute interior with a fun wall for taking photos (if instagram didn't see it, did it happen?). Great playlist playing in the shop too. I haven't had a big party yet, but when I do I plan on having their food truck (donut truck!) cater it. Decreased the review by 1 star just because, again, it is on the pricey side and while they open quite early, they also close very early so if you work a standard 9-5 its hard to swing by unless its a weekend. Overall, big fan and whenever I have friends or family visiting the area I always either take them here or recommend it to them as a fun treat! read more

The donuts here are so good....I've loved every variety I've tried but I have to say the maple bacon is my favorite. Half of one is good enough to fill me up (although I have sometimes eaten an entire one). I will say they keep pretty well too....I bought some donuts on Friday but couldn't finish so I put them in an airtight container and when I had them on Sunday, they were still awesome. Staff is friendly and helpful. There are cool neon signs on the walls the decor looks like an upscale bar. In non-Covid times, I guess this would be a cool coffee bar. I'm trying to lose the weight I gained during the pandemic and I'm glad I'm only in Danbury a few days a week...otherwise, I'd be at Grounds every day packing on more pounds! read more

I have been seeing this place on Instagram any help for a few weeks now. My wife brought some home from Danberry to try. I love their presentation and variety of specialty donuts. I assumed the price would be a lot higher for specialty donuts. It wasn't much more than national chain brands. The donuts were good. I tried a little piece of all them. Some I liked, others not as much. We got Nutella, bacon maple, churro, fruity pebbles, and glazed. My favorite was the Nutella followed by the churro. Sadly it's not Nutella filling. It is a chocolate butter cream. Very tasty, but not Nutella. I would definitely go back to try some of the other varieties. read more

Earlier this summer at the San Gennaro Festival in Danbury, we stopped by the Grounds Donut Truck and were impressed with what we had, so we decided we had to come visit their storefront! We're so glad that we did, because we've declared they're officially in our top 3 donut shops in the state. The vibes are cool, the staff was so friendly, and the donuts are creative, fresh, and just taste so good! Their flavors rotate weekly, so I'm a little sad I most likely won't be able to get these flavors again the next time I visit, but I know that whatever I have will be great. The donuts are so soft, and I loved the rich chocolate frostings. I loved the lattes we tried, which have all homemade syrups. Wow! What a great place to come and pick up some of the best donuts we've ever had. They have around 20 different flavors and many options for coffee, including a protein coffee with 30g of protein! Our favorite donut had to be the coffee cake (top right in the photo) followed by the blueberry muffin (bottom right in the photo), but really you can't go wrong with any of them! The service is very good - the workers are very friendly and move the line quickly. The ambiance is young and fun! The only thing that would make it better is if they had their own space - right now they are tucked in the back of the bar room at Stanziattos Restaurant. Otherwise 10/10! read more

This place .. WOW! I'm visiting from out of town and I wish this was right by my house. The staff is so nice and the donuts were outrageous and so fresh! Nothing but great things to say , would definitely return-and might while I'm still visiting. Also , they have great photo walls :) We tried all the following donut flavors: -Boston crème (favorite) -coffee cake donut (amazing!
