Unique spot at Lake Louise, albeit not near Lake Louise. It reminds us of Acadia National Park's…read moreJordan Pond House, known for their popovers and view. Similarly, Lake Agnes also has a commanding view, and Tea! There are several dozen varieties of hot tea, plus cold sandwiches (we had cucumber and hummus sandwiches), assorted biscuits and pastries- but sadly (yet not so sadly), no coffee. Foods at the house are cash only; the line on the steps on the right is for seating; the line on the left is for take out. Should you take out, as we did- and sit along the water- beware of the chipmunks, and do not let their cuteness disarm you. They will sneak up, climb on you, and pull food from your unsuspecting hands. THink seagulls at the beach...cute scavengers with no ethics who pray on the unaware. To earn your tea, you will need to hike to Lake Agnes. It was 5 miles from parking lot to tea and back, so roughly 2.5 each way. Yes, it is uphill; yes, you will need legitimate footwear, water, bear spray (on off seasons especially), and rain gear or whatever else you would need. In August, the trail was well travelled, so you were never alone with the bears. The view from the top is commanding, and you will see Mirror Lake on the way as well. We started to hike from Lake Agnes to the Little Beehive- another mile each way- but we decided against it, as my wife's boots were bothering her. The teahouse is a neat spot, and those who can hike to it will appreciate leaving the influencers at Lake Louise behind to go earn your tea!

This was one of my motivations (aside from the views) of hiking around Lake Louise. I had seen so…read moremany videos about this place that I knew I had to check it out for myself. The journey up isn't too bad, but near the top there are a lot of horse droppings. When you arrive, there's a stunning view of a lake right in front of the tea house. They have two separate lines, one for dining in and one for to-go. The seating accommodations are minimal, but they will do their best to get you in. The food and tea itself aren't anything to write home about, but it's mostly the ambiance and aesthetics that keep this place going. They do ask you to take your trash down with you if possible, which is a bit of a hassle, but worth it to help do your part!

Everything is made from scratch. Every detail from the presentation to the home made English muffins are on point. The son takes your order and is very conversational. Unfortunately, we got there around 10, many of the baked goods are sold out. This is a hidden gem, great food, service and supports local farmers from the tea and coffee served to the flavor in the food. Too bad it was our last day in Banff, otherwise we would have come back again.

Remember when you walked into a bakery and you could smell the baked goods? That's this place. They bake fresh every morning with no leftovers from the day before. We love breakfast food and give this place our very best recommendation. The chef made our breakfast sandwich on the spot. The cinnamon roll which is the size of a small chihuahua was piping hot with icing that was sweet, but not too sweet. Located in an industrial park where you would never expect it!
