a starbucks bag in the passenger seat of a car

I was going through something extremely difficult today when I decided that an iced coffee would make it all better (don't we all think this way). When I got up to the window I couldn't help but laugh at myself with tears streaming down my face. I knew the girls in the window could tell in that moment I was going through it. But instead of making me feel shameful for being a mess I was met with so much compassion and before I drove off was given a pastry on the house. Not one but TWO cake pops :) one was a unicorn:) the bag read "it gets better". That girl will have no idea how much of an impact she made today. And I just wanted to extend a huge thanks to that girl and the whole Starbucks staff at this location for being so good to me today

Decent place for studying. I had a vanilla scone. Coffee prices are no different than anywhere else. Restroom was relatively clean. Moderate amount of people studying at this location. I got tired of a library so I came here. Coffee was good. I had black coffee, as I do not understand why people drink the lattes and sugary coated drinks, and I am a believer coffee should only be black, with no sugar. Never the less, all the other drinks appear to be decent as well. It's not a place for group study, but more a self study location. Black coffee is 1.25. Everything else is 5-7 dollars.

    Fly in my drink !

This location is always out of syrups and juices. Today I found a fly in my refresher! When I went in got a refund they didn't offer to remake a drink or offer an apologies! There were flies floating around the inside as well ! Landing on the plexiglass by the register. Never will go again

Largest Starbucks lobby I know of. Usually packed with equal parts tele-commuters and students working.

I suppose all Starbucks locations have "regulars." I happen to be one here. I've even been introduced as such by one employee training another. The interesting thing about coming here at all hours of the day is that I get to see all of the other regulars. In fact, somedays I like to play "Regulars Bingo" to see if I can spot them all. There's Asian studies guy. I'm pretty sure he's a UGA professor who meets all of his students here instead of going to campus. Took me a while to figure that out, though. When I first started coming here, he had a different nickname to match what appeared to be creepy behavior. I feel bad, though. He's legit. There's also cocktail dress lady who shows up two or three times a day. At first I thought she was ordering drinks for an office, but I think it's always just for her. At least one of them is always a large water. I'll bet her gold member account expiration date says "Armageddon." Next we have Art Deco. He's actually a really talented artist, and that's not his style, but he's here all the time, drawing with markers or just surfing the web. I'm not convinced he always buys a drink, but his drawings of college mascots always seem to please the customers in the lobby. We also can't forget about poindexter. He's a pudgy, nerdy guy who always comes in and stays for hours at a time. This guy is a mid-30s grad student who clearly is mooching off of the taxpayer dollar somehow. He also only orders an iced coffee and then gets his free refills using his membership card. I guess he's not ripping the store off, though, since he pays $2.50 for the first one and even after drinking 3 refills has only consumed about ten cents worth of product. Still, he's always chomping on ice. Everyone could do without that. The best regulars at this Starbucks, though, are the baristas. They are constantly smiling and polite, even when they are slammed. They always do what they can to make your order right and they learn your name. It's a small touch that goes a long way. Best of all, they always treat me well, no matter how many iced coffee refills I order.

There might be a little bias options here since this joint is owned by his really good friend's granddaughter. But the fact it's local, I'm going to support it. Walking up, the espresso machine and register was set up outside. There's some remodeling going on so I didn't get the opportunity to see what the venue looks like inside. But outside is quite cute. I love the flowers surrounding the outside patio. A handful of sweet baristas were working. They all greeted us! I checked out the summer menu to see what kind of cool drinks they had. I got a vanilla oat milk matcha latte. My husband got a summer drink of the menu. It was a sparkling strawberry lemonade. My husband's lemonade was so good! I appreciate that real strawberry puree was used. It was sweet, tangy and bubbly! It was quite refreshing for a sweet drink. My matcha was balanced! There was a good amount of matcha to oat milk. I didn't quite taste the vanilla as much as I would have liked to. I did add some sugar to it when we stopped at the Waffle House. It tasted much better once the sugar was added. I'm already going to plan on coming back when we visit Athens again next year. I look forward to seeing the new remodel. And I look forward to potentially meeting the famous Molly that my father in law speaks ok. I enjoyed my matcha and it's great that I got to support a local joint while I was here.

When we went the line was out the door as the customer area is tiny inside but it adds to the ambiance. We tried two pastries, can't recall the exact names - a peach and almond danish and a cinnamon bun. The peach danish but flaky and buttery. The peach flavor could have been a bit stronger but the danish was well made. The cinnamon bun was just live a cinnamon roll center without the icing but the custard in the middle was delicious. Excited to go back and get a load of bread. Prices were as expected.

My visit was during the morning rush so there was a line to order but aside from it allowing me more time to choose my breakfast treats, I was also able to watch the baker pulling out fresh bread from the oven. It's truly a working bakery. The blue and white exterior is very eye catching as you arrive in the area and the warm natural color tones inside the bakery are soothing and elegant. The staff who took my order, as well as the one who made my coffee order, were very friendly and calm, despite having a decent line of eager customers hoping what they wanted wasn't taken by the customers before them. Tight quarters inside so not really a place to sit and savor your selections but they do have seating outside, in a patio area next door. If you purchase loaves of bread, you are able to have it sliced! I'm looking forward to trying the bread next time I'm in town. Definitely add this place to your next visit to Athens!

Though, is paying attention to what your customers like. Apparently they have made a decision to no longer serve coffee in mugs. I always had ordered mine in a mug when sipping in the store. I just don't like the feel of a paper cup, and coffee tastes better in a ceramic mug. When I inquired the manager on duty informed me that "we don't serve mugs." Well, you used to. I ordered an iced caramel latte, it was good but very very coffee heavy. Usually lattes tend to be sweeter and creamier, but this one was kind of bitter. However, it did make me jittery and allowed me to get a lot of work done so that was a job well done. I also tried the dirty chai latte and it basically just tasted like coffee with nutmeg and a hint of cardamom. The coffees were alright and were the typical price of coffee nowadays ($5-6). The servers were sweet and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a study spot with some fuel! Will be back soon!!
