I had a terrible experience at this location. I've never posted a Yelp review until now because my…read moreexperience was that horrible. I ordered a smoothie online. I've ordered the same exact smoothie online from this location several times before and didn't have any problems until June 5th. I ordered the 20oz "Peanut Butter Punch," removed "Whey MR Protein," and substituted it with "Plant-Based Protein." My pickup time was 12:17 p.m., and I picked it up around 12:30 p.m. When I received my smoothie and took a sip, I immediately knew it was made with whey protein. As someone who has been dairy-free for 10 years for dietary issues, I know dairy when I taste it. I had errands to run, so I completed those and returned to the store around 1 p.m. I went inside and said I was 99% sure there was milk (dairy) in my drink and that I had ordered my drink online and had substituted the Whey MR Protein with Plant-Based Protein. The woman behind the counter asked which drink I had gotten, which I stated was the Peanut Butter Punch, and she stated that I didn't remove the frozen yogurt (for clarification, there is no frozen yogurt in that smoothie to begin with). I told her that the smoothie doesn't have frozen yogurt, and she, as well as the other woman behind the counter, pulled out their nutrition sheet to check. They figured out there was no frozen yogurt in there (they should know what is in each smoothie to begin with) and then said they couldn't remake my smoothie, even though it was made with the Whey MR Protein I didn't order, because it's their company policy. The best they could do was take down my name and number, which I declined because no, I'm not going to give you my number to spam me with marketing texts. As I was walking out in tears, the women behind the counter said that even if there were Whey MR Protein in my smoothie, it wouldn't have any milk... To that, I am dumbfounded. A simple Google search shows that whey protein, including Planet Smoothie's proprietary Whey MR Protein, is a byproduct of milk and is considered a dairy product. Either these women gaslit me about whey protein or didn't know much about the product. Regardless, it's terrible customer service because they either don't care about customers' needs or they don't know what they're doing. The proper thing to do in this situation would have been to remake the smoothie since it was made wrong to begin with. Staff should be better educated about the products they touch, blend, pour, etc., and how these products can affect people with allergies and intolerances. I'm grateful I don't have an anaphylactic allergy to dairy, or this could've been a whole lot worse. I will never buy from any Planet Smoothie location again.

However, I wasn't the biggest fan of our drinks. We got one drink that was sugar-free to accommodate our dietary needs, and it was not good at all. The passionfruit tea was pretty good. I would get it with less sugar because it's naturally very sweet. With that I wish they had more sugar-free options for those who need it and still want to enjoy a refreshing lemonade or tea. this spot is located right next to an apartment with very few parking spots in front. So I can't imagine how crowded it may get during busy peak hours. If you are not diabetic or you do not need sugar-free beverages then I would say it's worth trying. However, if you do have some dietary restrictions when it comes to sugar level, I do not recommend recommend.

Apparently this is a widespread international chain that originated in Taiwan, though I cannot remember seeing one before. I thought maybe they would be trying to pass off a low-quality product on a college town audience. However, I am pleased to report that it was as good as any bubble tea place I've been to in a while. My kumquat lemon tea came with delicious lychee jellies by default, and I experienced no difficulty or extra charge by opting for half sugar and half ice. These turned out to be good choices as my tea was just sweet enough and the little bit of ice was just enough to make my tea cold without wasting space. The flavor was quite complex and I enjoyed it to the last drop. Their tea menu is sizable and intriguing, and the people working here appeared to know what they were doing. Notably, they had waffles which smelled awfully delicious, but contrary to what my Yelptastic profile might suggest, I do not eat everything in sight, and I did not have room for a waffle. But the people who did get one looked happy.
