I enjoy coming to this Jittery Joes location, but was really disappointed by the service we received this evening. Ordered a medium hot chocolate with whipped cream and a small americano in the drive through around 8pm. We were the only people in line, only a few people in the shop and none of them ordering drinks. Took an exceedingly long time to get our drinks, and only got a small hot chocolate. Took us a second to realize it was the wrong size so we tried to get an employees attention... blue haired barista noticed us and proceeded to ignore us waving at her from the window. Drove around the building so she would talk to us at the drive through. Told her we ordered a medium hot chocolate with whipped cream, not a small. Her response: "You paid for a small." I responded "okay... we did order a medium." She repeated quite tersely: "you paid for a small." She sighed and half heartedly offered to charge us the difference and remake the drink.. we declined and left. Also really really pitiful amount of whipped cream :/ I included a pic of my quarter sized whipped cream allotment.

Jittery Joe's is a coffee shop chain that started in Athens back in 1994. It is a local favorite coffee shop among UGA students. Apparently this location is pretty new, and it is really nice. The space is pretty big, and the store layout is fun. While waiting in line for your coffee, you get to check out their line of mugs and slick tumblers. The coffee pricing is pretty standard. I ordered a dark roast coffee with an extra vanilla flavor shot. Unfortunately, their creamer containers were empty, and in those situations I usually just nuke my drink with all the powders (nutmeg, cinnamon, cocoa, and vanilla). The drink was still delicious! What I really like about the location is actually the outside. First, there's an awesome orange bench swing where you and your friend can sit in what looks like a metal sofa, but it swings back and forth. Second, there's a wooden "birdhouse" bookshelf called the free library where you can give and take a book. Great concept! A for effort, creativity of the free library, design of the shop and quality of coffee. *Disclaimer: Came here for a day trip in Athens, quickly hitting up some of the local faves.

By far the slowest drive-through I have ever experienced. Ever. Defies all logic really.

There might be a little bias options here since this joint is owned by his really good friend's granddaughter. But the fact it's local, I'm going to support it. Walking up, the espresso machine and register was set up outside. There's some remodeling going on so I didn't get the opportunity to see what the venue looks like inside. But outside is quite cute. I love the flowers surrounding the outside patio. A handful of sweet baristas were working. They all greeted us! I checked out the summer menu to see what kind of cool drinks they had. I got a vanilla oat milk matcha latte. My husband got a summer drink of the menu. It was a sparkling strawberry lemonade. My husband's lemonade was so good! I appreciate that real strawberry puree was used. It was sweet, tangy and bubbly! It was quite refreshing for a sweet drink. My matcha was balanced! There was a good amount of matcha to oat milk. I didn't quite taste the vanilla as much as I would have liked to. I did add some sugar to it when we stopped at the Waffle House. It tasted much better once the sugar was added. I'm already going to plan on coming back when we visit Athens again next year. I look forward to seeing the new remodel. And I look forward to potentially meeting the famous Molly that my father in law speaks ok. I enjoyed my matcha and it's great that I got to support a local joint while I was here.

Besides many confections offered here, you can also try their great variety of coffee drinks. Many of their products ingredients are sourced from Ecuador. CHOCO COFFEE: Their blend of "Choco Coffee," isn't named after chocolate coffee. Instead, it's named after Ecuadorian, Choco Toucan bird. I bought, "Comunidad Blend," to brew at home. As I've been sipping on it, its whole beans are washed, well balanced, offer rich and bold flavors. You can taste the home roots. PARKING: It can be tricky to get in here. It's located off busy, S. Walking up to the place, I love the bright red tables outside. It adds such a fun vibrancy to the place. The windows are also decorated with beautiful strands of color. It creates such a fun vibe. I noticed the beautifully crafted truffles displayed in the glass case. They all looked so good! I asked the sweet gal for a variety of 8 pieces. I also got a salted caramel brownie as well. My truffles got boxed up with a cute white bow. My brownie was getting warmed up while the gal was helping another guest. I checked out the other items for sale while I was waiting for my brownie. I love all the Georgia Bulldog themed chocolates. There was also a different variety of chocolate bars available. I noticed they also sold espresso and coffee drinks at the shop. I wish I would have known about the coffee! I would have rather grabbed coffee from this joint and not from Starbucks. It will be something I'll have to try next time. My brownie was so good! The love the flakes of salt on the brownie. The sweet and salty combo is always a winner. It was heated up just right! There were caramel ribbons were in every bite. It's very decadent! Make sure you have a big glass of cold milk. You'll need it for this brownie! This was a neat little chocolate joint I got to check out. They have some really good sweets that you must try! The hazelnut truffle is a must have. I can't wait to share my truffles with my friends and family. I'll be sharing a piece of Athens with them.
