Two years later, and I'm writing a similar review regarding the blonde vanilla latte. I since learned that the medium and large have the same number of espresso shots (what?!) so started purchasing mediums at other locations and I've been pleased. This morning, on the way to work, I decided to try this location again and was sorely disappointed. The drinks are so weak here- they're watery. Just go to the one down the street on Wilson. This is 1 of the 5 or 6 Starbucks in the Ballston neighborhood that is a bit further out of the way (you have to cross Glebe towards the I-66 West freeway entrance). I stopped by to pick up a Honey Citrus Mint Tea, and my drink was ready by the time I picked it up. Not a whole lot of seating despite a vast amount of space. Overall, pretty standard Starbucks. This is the 5th time this specific location has not read the correct order when making drinks. The store was somewhat busy when I got there but both drinks I received were wrong - and the most important being the wrong milk used (I can't have dairy). I have also paid multiple times for extras in the drinks (ie caramel or cold foam etc) and it is forgotten 70% of the time. Paying over price for nothing extra. The staff are nice but continually forget sleeves on hot drinks, and don't read the order they're making even if it isn't a custom one. read more

The app said they were out of stock of my breakfast sandwich, but the person behind the counter delivered. The line went quickly and the four ladies working delivered quickly. What more is there to say about Starbucks?! Well, in the case of this store location, I am a fan mainly because of the size of the location and it is never too crowded. It's very bright, open with large windows for bright light and cool eclectic spaces such as a nitro brew bar and lounge seating. Typically, you will find most locations in a business building with one cashier and one barista; working in a small space. On many occasions the service has been quick and I have experienced good customer service. Also, thanks to this location being in proximity to my office, it has been my choice of drug many of mornings to get the day started and provides sometimes a great escape from the crazy days that present themselves in my line of work. My go to drink you ask!? Simply put....Black Coffee, No sugar...No Creme!....As L.L. Cool J puts it...."That's kind of _____ I need down with my team!" Just kidding. LOL. Ooops....Sorry I digress. Back to the coffee, its very flavorful and strong. As for the Baristas, I must give them props. Nothing like going to a place where the Barista is familiar with a wide range of coffee lexicons and weird orders I often hear calle-outd while in line. Perhaps this is where the attitude or rude service that some of the reviewers are complaining about is coming from. I mean, I am not sure how they manage to stay sane. Personally I would have quit a long time ago...lol...especially with some of the orders I hear from indiscriminate coffee snobs that frequent this location. I mean...people's preferences for temperature -- 87.5 degrees!?? Ummm... please (I mean really!?) , variated amounts of foam, Madagascar cinnamon (probably processed in Memphis, TN), 1%, 2%, red eye, black eye, flat white, cortado, etc.... you catch my drift. LOL One can loose it with so many combinations other than a simple, regular 'Cup of Joe!'....at least I would!! So Kudos to the Barista and the Manager (i forget her name every time) who are always friendly and manage to fulfill orders sooo expeditiously-satisfactory at this location. Also, the employees all make an extra effort to remember names and orders by the next visit. That personal touch helps distinctively set this location above in comparison to other SB locations. So in all, not a bad SB location for a quick cup of Joe or for teleworking. There's plenty of seating, table space and the building is completely wired. Although the place can get crowded, it is tolerable in my opinion. read more

I stopped into this location before a hair appointment because I had time to kill. I never know what kind of customer service I'm going to get because it honestly varies so much from location to location. However, the woman who served me at 6:45pm on Wednesday was by far the kindest barista I've met. Despite the air conditioner being broken and her clearly being hot and sweaty, I was greeted with a geniune smile and interest. She asked me how my day was and had such a pleasant demeanor from being to end. The entire interaction made my day and I left in a better state than when I came in. I wish I would have gotten her name so i could post it here, but management if you see this review please give the brunette woman who works Wednesday nights a raise! read more

Beautiful space and great location, not too far from parking (or the Ballston Metro). Yes, it gets a little noisy during peak hours, but the staff are friendly and efficient. If it's not busy, the barista will even bring you your drink if you're sitting at the "bar" area by the counter. read more

Great Starbucks in the neighborhood. This is a great Starbucks location especially compared to those in the area. I like how its a large space that feels cozy. The windows are large and brings in enough light, but when the sun is too bright they have blinds that can be drawn down. The staff here are cheerful and helpful. They give you honest suggestions and always seem to be smiling. Theres plenty of seats throughout the space and some large areas to use to study with others if necessary. The menu is about the same with no reserve coffee, but the ambiance and staff make this location a keeper! Will be back again. read more

This is probably the nicest Starbucks I've ever been to, which makes sense I suppose since its brand new. They even serve nitro cold brew! Other than your typical Starbucks experience you can expect from here, it's a great place to bring a laptop and do some work. I value work spots and found this to be comfortable. You have your choice of some small tables, a couple large tables, even bar seating where they pour the nitro. If it's nice out you can opt for the tables they have outside. Heads up, it can be a bit loud and echoey. If you're distracted by noise or music you're better off bringing ear plugs or headphones to place some white noise of your own. read more

I went in to Starbucks for a pink drink. I told the cashier I wanted a large pink drink with extra coconut milk. You could tell the barista was busy. I waited awhile for my drink without rushing the barista. When it came time for him to make my drink, I noticed he had grabbed a very empty coconut milk carton and poured the small amount left to the drink. But when he was handing me the drink, before I grabbed it, i asked him if he could add more coconut milk to the drink. He didn't have to remake the whole thing but if he could just add more or give me a little on a separate cup and I could do it myself. While I asked, he got upset and aggressively threw the drink in the garbage. He repeated, "you watched me make you this drink and now you're telling me you didn't like it?" And I said, "I was just asking for extra milk. I didn't mean for you to throw the whole drink away." He went ahead and made a new one with an attitude. Another Starbucks employee saw him and asked him who didn't like the drink sarcastically and he replied, looking for my name on the little sticker, "Daniela over there, she didn't like the drink". When he handed me the drink he aggressively said "Starbucks used to have, the barista promise, emphasis on the USED to." I said I'm sorry and left the Starbucks store teary eyed. I understand that baristas are busy, I understand that it must be very annoying to have to remake peoples drinks. But as a customer, that specified extra coconut milk since the very beginning, and getting the reaction I did from the barista was highly inappropriate. I'm a person that is diagnosed with anxiety and battles with depression. The unnecessary aggression that came from this particular person is very off putting specially coming from a Starbucks store since Starbucks prides itself on inclusivity, mental health and kindness. I hate to place this review but I do think this needs to be addressed and the person at the store needs to be spoken to. This Starbucks location is very nice when it's not too busy. I came here on a Friday afternoon and the staff here are very friendly. If you come inside with a bad temper, it doesn't help the staff here. Be friendly to the staff here as they are in the service of making drinks for you. There is plenty of seating here with several individual tables and long tables by the barista bar. So if you need a group meeting here, there should be enough for your party. With that being said, the staff here are super friendly and have witness instances where the staff will bring the drinks over to you at your seat. This is very nice of them as normally you hear the barista call out your name. However, if they are super busy, I anticipate them calling out names as they need to continue making drinks for other customers. Their communal bathrooms are also clean. They do offer free WiFi, however expect slow internet speeds. This is okay if you aren't running into websites loading tons of pictures / video clips. Bring in a good book and bask in the soothing music. The building is surrounded with windows which brings in a lot of natural lighting. There are outdoor seating (approximately 6-8 tables) if you want to sit outside. Other than the slow WiFi (which isn't a big deal), I would recommend checking this Starbucks location out. It's fairly newly built and very modern and clean. Be sure to thank your barista when you are here. I went in thIs morning before going in for a meeting and asked for a venti iced Guava white tea with light ice. I walked out with what looked like the regular amount of ice in my drink. From the baristas conversation that I overheard it seemed like the one who was making my drink had no idea what they were doing.... Unfortunately I've spend a lot of money there because I work in the medical building across the street, so it's very convenient for me to get coffee from there. It's either me or my coworkers that would go and grab coffee for the whole office. So yesterday my coworker had brought my coffee half cup! Which I've noticed a lot like maybe 3-4 times and they have too. I have shared with the staff that everytime I got my White chocolate mocha it was not a full cup. The girl who was at the register was very nice and apologized and she herself called her assistant manager without me asking. Now the manager walks over rudely and says "what's going on!" So I shared the same complaint to her and she looks at me and says "I can't refund you your money without a receipt." Like wohh I didn't expect such a rough response. There was no apologies and she didn't even say it in a nice way. I didn't come off rude I simply explain my concern about the drink I pay almost 6$ for. I normally don't write reviews but while in town on a business trip, I visited this Starbucks location and really felt the need to. It was by far the best Starbucks experience I've had. From the moment I walked in, the staff was super pleasant and seemed to realize that I had never been in the store before which made me feel special and welcomed. I was greeted with a biggest and most enthusiastic smile from "Deb" very early in the morning that really set the course for a potentially stressful day. After a quick amicable chat that made me feel like time was not an issue or not feeling rushed, the coffee I ordered hit the mark and I left the store wishing that all my Starbucks experiences could have gone this way. read more

This Starbucks is nice and beautiful. However, that is meaningless if the staff is rude and uninviting. Unfortunately, one staff may make the rest look bad. I visit this Starbucks regularly (this may change), and if you ask Debb a question, she gives a rude, cut and dry answer. Normally I don't ever have an issue with Starbucks but for some reason this location doesn't seem to have the items I order through delivery. Twice now my orders have been wrong because the drivers tell me that this Starbucks don't have the items I order. I have had to switch my orders last minute. Granted they've only been open for about a month, but they move like snails here. Either a lack of training or an inability of the staff to retain that training. Very surprised that there does not appear to be at least ONE senior person to guide staff. They all look lost. That and on one visit I had to ask them if they had any bananas in the back because the four or so sitting out we practically black and must have been sitting for days. It's hard to believe that they didn't see that either before opening or after closing. They had a box w/ near-ripe bananas in the back and brought them out. On one purchase I asked them to apply one of my rewards--after noticing that the total did not deduct the cost of the item I asked again...the cashier nodded...no change...so I asked again. Still no change to my bill so I just gave up. The bathrooms look like they have not been cleaned since opening. I appreciate that these newbs are trying to run things in the absence of experienced staff, but I'd rather just go two blocks over to either the SB in the Westin or the one by the Ballston Metro. read more
