I actually came Thursday morning and ended up leaving because the line was long. I didn't have time to wait just to order and then wait again for food. On Friday, I did it the smarter way and ordered ahead online, then picked up from the Mad Eggs food truck in the rear, which worked out way better. I went for breakfast and ordered a scrapple, egg, and cheese biscuit ($10) and breakfast tots ($4.25). The order took about 20 minutes, which honestly wasn't bad considering how packed it was around 9:00 a.m. I even noticed people waiting in their cars before heading up to the truck, so the timing felt realistic given the volume. If I had more time, I would've waited without an issue. Food-wise, everything was good, but I had mixed feelings. The biscuit sandwich tasted fine, but for $10, I expected more. It wasn't loaded, and at that price point it just didn't quite make sense to me--I know that sounds sarcastic, but it's hard not to compare when it's a simple scrapple, egg, and cheese. The breakfast tots, on the other hand, were the better deal. I liked these a lot. The portion made more sense for the price, and I really liked that you're encouraged to customize them. That part was right up my alley. With all the topping options, I do wish they offered a sauce or gravy option (like sausage or country gravy), but even without that, this is something I'd order again and again. The coffeehouse itself is small but clean and quaint, with a few tables. Parking out front is very limited--maybe five cars--but there's more space in the back near the food truck, and there's a rear entrance, which is probably the best move. Staff was friendly and efficient, and even from inside you can tell things are run pretty smoothly. I don't drink coffee, so I can't speak to that side much, but I've had food brought home from here before by my wife and really enjoyed the matcha tea smoothie in the past. Overall, I'd definitely return. I think Rise Up does a good job in general, and I've enjoyed their Severna Park and downtown Annapolis locations before. I just expected more out of a $10 biscuit sandwich--but I'd happily come back for the tots and other menu items.

Today I just grabbed a hot matcha latte with pistachio syrup made with almond milk. It wasn't too sweet at all, right temperature. I don't believe I've gotten the pistachio syrup before but I liked it in the matcha.

POUR OVER - MKT PRICE I got the Colombia Los Pinos (Washed) which has grapefruit, dark chocolate, and creamy tasting notes for 6.75. I really enjoyed it, as it was fruity and not overly citrusy with a bit of bitterness. Each pour over comes with about 12 oz in a glass carafe that you can poor into a ceramic cup to enjoy. I loved this pour over and would recommend drinking it in the cafe to avoid getting that unpleasant waxy taste from the paper cups. Overall, great coffee shop to spend time in with good coffee. Ceremony is definitely one of my favorite roasters in the DMV, and I try to make time to stop by whenever I'm near one.

The lattes were served in the usual plastic Tatte cup, so it had the typical presentation. From the first sip, we realized that the drinks were watered down with essentially no flavor. At best, there was a hint of chai flavor, but definitely not on par with others I have ordered elsewhere. I would return again because of the location and ambiance, but I certainly would not purchase another chai tea latte.
