Unfortunately this is the closest location, otherwise I would never step foot here. Arrived at 0700 regular posted hours, to catch owners walk in at 0701, no acknowledgement. As I try to open the door they give me a hand signal saying its closed. I open the door to clarify and one of the guys says we open at 0800. Ok just say you're late and not ready. Pathetic business ethic & service. Why they charge more than daly city location is beyond me as well. So someone please open another location in the East Bay. i got the señorita bread and it was absolutely delicious! 20 for $16 which is a good deal in my opinion. this is definitely more of a hole in the wall location so you should just expect direct service and to be in & out of the bakery with whatever you get. read more

First time coming out here since they closed one in Newark three years ago. Notice they haven't raise their prices in over two years so we came by in the afternoon surprised there weren't too many shoppers out and abound. I've read from previous reviews they only allow one customer at a time so Bro had to wait outside and mask is no longer required despite what it's says. So I had a chance to go to this location and pick some up. They keep them in the back so don't be alarmed if you don't see any in the case. I also got excited that they had mochi donuts so I had to get some. The product is still as a I remember 20 years ago. warm them up a little and that oozing butter and sugar combined with the bread is so good. the mochi donuts were also good. Starbread, there is amazing per usual. The only different thing that you do is you have to wait for the person that's already in their ordering outside to keep distance. Warm hot bread, what more can you ask for? It's so addictive and best eaten right away. You can reheat it in the art fryer but doesn't taste the same. A box of 20 pieces cost around $12 and it works out since they only accept Apple Pay/card with a $10 minimum. 15 pieces will get your order in a box, anything less than comes in a bag. They do sell other bakery items like Mochi donuts, hopia, other donuts, cupcakes, etc but it doesn't look as appetizing. Like the Mochi donuts aren't even frosted nicely or all the way. For you to be able to get fresh hot baked bread from a store anytime you go, it's worth the hype. They also had other baked goods that I enjoyed as well with cream cheese fillings and mochi donuts. This take out bakery is located in a little street side shopping plaza. One party is allowed in at one time. My daughter saw a video about the Senorita Bread, so we stopped to try some. The Senorita Bread is absolutely delish and addicting! It is served fresh and warm either in a bag or box depending on how many is purchased. I wish we ordered more! This new Union City location is a 2-star at best. We used to be regulars when it was in Newark and would have easily ranked it a 4-star but after it moved farther away the new spot just seems dirty and rundown. Last time we went (few weeks back during the holidays) we noticed there was mold on some of the lesser popular bakery items in the display case so we got our senorita bread and skipped trying out anything else. This new location really feels like it's just falling apart with broken pieces hanging off display cases and tiled floors just looking filthy. Even the most delicious starbread senorita rolls weren't up to par as some layers barely had any of the sweet glaze over them. The small space limits 1 customer at a time, which is fine just an FYI, but I remember there usually being a line and thinking "no line at all". Really hope they put some extra care in cleaning up the shop and upping their game back to how I remember it when they were in Newark. read more
