I had the experience of Starbird chicken on their soft opening this past Saturday (9/26). They had plenty of staff, corporate and mangers buzzing around anxious to answer all questions. This company began I Alameda California and had branched out to this location in Seattle. I would like to say that this comes at a time of heavy competition of the chemo ken sandwich nearly everywhere. The color cheek in a slight wood and yellow. In fact, today's their grand opening with yellow and white balloons displayed along the building. Since this is a new place, my review comments are a bit longer. The pace packs a lot of stuff in a small Space. There is a queue to Place an order, a screen to inform you when the order is ready, and The menu is pretty straight forward. There is an app and I downloaded The app and placed an order. I can say that the app needs some minor adjustments as it is a bit confusing when ordering the chicken sandwich you want and you can't order a drink until you place your order for a sandwich requiring me to ask an e Plourde twice how to place the order and how to place an order for a drink. Ow there drinks are made with cane sugar and have are the non-expected coke, Pepsi, root beer( see photos for the names of th sodas.). I had the ginger soda which was delicious and I will return to have another. And now the chicken burger: I love chicken in just about anyway it can be prepared. Fried chicken sandwiches are a favorite of mine. The first bite has to catch me and drives my desire to take another bite and plan my next visit. I ordered the Nashville fire chicken sandwich. This sandwich typically has increased seasoning and heat. Along with Greek yogurt ranch, dill pickles, classic slaw, on a brioche bun. I asked for the "make it burin" level of heat. The first bite was this soft bun followed by a nice crunch of a salt block. This was the saltiest burger I have ever eaten.! So much so that I began to shake and seize it was that salty, and yes I could feel my blood pressure climbing. Also, this was a first for me. It was so salty that I could not finish the burger. I'm not sure if this is a one off and they need time to adjust, but this was an unforgettable experience. When I'm over the salt shakes, I want to return to try the classic chicken burger to see if it's a different experience . I will say that the heat and spice level was good but overshadowed by the salt.

An amazing place to get delicious fried chicken of different sorts, super friendly service, fast service, overall pretty healthy tasting, I really enjoyed the sauces that they have here. I recommend and would come back!

Verified order but my sauces were still missing

Great food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere! Everything was fresh and delicious. Definitely a spot I'd come back to!

I love Starbird chicken! Their staff is enthusiastic, kind, quick and accommodating. I love my fried chicken and boy am I impressed by the size and juiciness of their chicken. Their sauces are of many variety and all so good! It's hard to pick which sauce I want to go with sometimes. I highly recommend them.

Receipt

I was excited to try Starbird Chicken when it opened because I had seen lots of great reviews on Tik Tok only to be left disappointed. Not only did they get my order wrong when I paid $4 extra to upgrade to truffle fries but the chicken was bland not that much flavor to it. It's been a little over two weeks since I emailed customer service about my messed up order and I haven't heard back. I was on a time crunch because I was on lunch break so I couldn't go back and complain. The food was cold too but the worker that helped me was wonderful.

Was visiting Seattle for the weekend with a couple friends and we stopped by this place for lunch, the food was amazing and so fresh! The service was excellent, we ordered a lot of food and I was surprised how quickly they brought it out to us.

Extremely disappointing, especially for a newly opened restaurant. I waited 20 minutes for a roughly $20 chicken order, which would have been easier to overlook if the food had been worth the wait. Unfortunately, the Sweet Thai chicken was genuinely unpleasant. The flavor was oddly balanced and overpowering in a way that made it difficult to enjoy, and it certainly didn't taste like something I'd wait half an hour or pay a premium for. For a restaurant specializing in chicken, the combination of a long wait, relatively high price, and disappointing food is hard to excuse. I wanted to like Starbird and was excited to try the new location, but this was a terrible first impression. There are far too many good chicken options in Seattle to justify paying $20 and waiting 30 minutes for something I didn't even want to finish.

Drove from Portland to Seattle. Best chicken burger. Must visit! 10/10! If you're in Seattle area then try Starbird.

Chicken tenders

Gross. Rates like something I could've bought at the frozen aisle at Winco or Grocery Outlet only heavy with grease. I don't get how they think they have a product when this tastes so bad. What a weird location. Between a yoga studio, across from Pilates and next to a gym and a massage/health place. What not an Emerald Smoothie or Jamba Juice? It is not worth the trip & why is there a security guard in front of it every day? Is it to keep the employees safe or the customers? The dips are generic and I ordered the churros. It looks like dog """" with almost no sugar. The dip is like watered down like bland Hershey syrup. I didn't know it's supposed to have a dip? I wasted money bc I ended up so disgusted I tossed it.

You order at the same counter as Rachel's but you pay separately for each. (one transaction for Rachel's, one transaction for Ma'ono). We decided to get a couple of Fried Chicken Sandwiches and shared an order of French Fries, may as well get a Rachel's Ginger beer too! You order at counter, pay, they give you a number, go sit down, they bring out the food to you. The chicken sandwiches are a good sized honker of a chicken sandwich, they do fry it extra crispy though. Wasn't dry on the inside but fried pretty hard. Super crispy! Same with the fries, they went extra crispy on that too. The bun fell apart on me after a few bites. All seasoned well, we didn't have any other issues. We got a side of the mustard dipping sauce, that was pretty good too, taste like horseradish was mixed it, had a little kick. Wash it down with a blood orange ginger beer, we were good to go! Overall, it was satisfying, we were full, glad to have checked Ma'ono out! Staff was friendly, didn't take long to get our food, prices are on the high side these days for a chicken sandwich but no buyer's remorse.

Since it was my first time, I wanted to order something simple, and I tried the 4 piece chicken tender, second hottest level ("hot"). The best thing I can say about the tenders were that they were freshly made and hot, and the hangry dipping sauce was pretty good. But the tenders really lacked much seasoning or spice at all, and the batter was so thin there wasn't much crunch to them either. I wouldn't order these again. Maybe the tenders are just not their specialty, I would certainly try something else if I went back.

The facility offers 3 self-ordering stations, in addition to counter service. This place is definitely capable of handling a large crowd if needed. The ordering process is certainly a seamless process, if you're not familiars with the offerings, there's several menu board to peruse. The service is expeditious, friendly enough for an in and out to go experience. There is a single, well-maintained bathroom in the establishment, which i found to be a plus, as it shows to me at least that the care about the customer experience. So, I ordered the # 3 combo, Chicken Bap with Waffle Fries, plus a med drink. Also ordered a side of Cole slaw. The combo was $16.95, and the slaw was $3.95. As for the flavor and quality of the food, let's start with the waffle fries, I'd have to give a pass on them, they were rather mid, as in not creamy on the interior, nor crispy on the exterior. The Cole slaw, for me was mildly sweet, yet overpowered by a savory aspect, it was not creamy or refreshing. I'm not a fan of KFC, but they do have a refreshing, sweeter, crisper Cole slaw that it to die for, but not enough that I'd go out of my way to purchase. The chicken bap with the Spicy Soy Garlic Sauce, over rice was pretty good, but familiar to other dishes of its kind. I'd have to try other options to say if I'd go back for another go round. Some of the items I was interested in were a bit spending for what I thought it would be, ie the chicken wings. Overall, it was something to try and I did enjoy the Chicken Bap combo.

Thus a very solid four stars, because I can't give five stars to a place that for the price uses mass produced freezer bag fries and sides that are similar in context and concept certainly good to great, but not at all inspired made from scratch in house and signature. The price and things just do not match the overall quality of the product ultimately. Importantly in context of rating decision there was another kind of mild doozy also that led to the four stars and reason in part for such a long review in my acquaintances chicken sandwich along with being quite tendeniss, there was some kind of a sharp bone piece shard a little bit which shows that on some level, in some context or another, that the business is cutting corners. When this concerning yucky thing happened it made me wonder how often this occurs!? The sandwich that I ordered "Cookie's Classic" was no heat heat level zero, my friend got some reasonable moderate heat and was also in that, Way To Salty, this likely indicates a seasoning and things from a premade manufacture, as apposed to signature made in house for a primary product offering in this case, the mark of an amateur business as apposed to a professional, (when the salt and heat are linked and quickly easily hit a celling) etc... Past all that in all honesty and fairness, the chicken sandwiches were beautiful I let them off the hook for being subjectively under sauced because for an upcharge you can order more of all kinds? huh? And most certainly, other than those complex imperfect things, an interpretation of perfection the sandwich that I ordered with no heat was soft and tender and awesome! After I ate at this place, I tossed and turned indecisive as to what kind of a rating, review and score to give it. Because some parts are almost excellent and other parts were unacceptable and over hyped from evolved outlook appraisal. Thus, I'm declaring a solid four stars ultimately! Ps. When I say that the sides are clearly not made from scratch and fresh in-house, that by no means makes them bad or terrible. They are certainly place holder good to great and better than typical fast food by comparative contrast and decent etc they are just not in-house made from scratch, signature, hot awesome excellent to outstanding they're nothing to write home about. I would encourage most people that like chicken sandwiches to try the place and to decide for themselves if they feel it's worth the price and trip into the city typical over hyped "buy local hand out with a story", and or inspired truly hands on owner that takes initiative (not a box mix) and 5 stars pulls the sword out of the stone next time in Pioneer Square and or also visit to the stadiums you decide! : ) -St.Rick "Line out the door" & "Car trunk take out" hobby pro!

Very friendly, personable fella! Ordered the 3 Piece with Mash 'Taters + Chicken Gravy & the Tangy Slaw. Also got a BBQ & a Rowdy Ranch sauce. The chicken comes to your table piping hot, right out of the fryer with a great, crunchy batter. But candidly, it's not super flavorful. It would've been nice if they offered some dry seasoning alternatives you could apply in addition to the side sauces. Just off the top of my head, I would think that Garlic Parmesan, Cajun/Creole, Lemon Pepper, & Buttery Herb would add a lot of flavor to Cookie's chicken. As for the sides, the Tangy Slaw wasn't bad, but I ended up making it better by mixing in some of the Rowdy Ranch sauce. Also, the Mash 'Taters + Chicken Gravy was unimpressive, but got a nice boost when I mixed in some of the BBQ sauce. Overall, I'd say the food gets a 3.5, but since the owner was very nice and the meal was a good value at $22.34, I'm bumping up Cookie's to a 4.
