Star Nursery -- For over ten years I have bought plants for many many landscaping projects. In the past I have been pleased with customer service. But Star Nursery -- what has happened ????? Today I was in search of ten gallon shasta daisies -- about ten for landscaping a cabin. I walked into the outdoor yard at Dixie -- saw several employees - but went from one to another and no one knew anything about shasta daisies. One young lady took me to a man that didn't speak much english but was talking VERY loud to himself in Spanish (I assume earphones plugged to his phone). He only pointed to an area. I finally found on my own 8 - 4" pots that desperately needed attention. Took them to cashier -- asked her about gallon size - she said - "I don't think we have any" I asked if she had an inventory and could check -- "Yah - I guess I could but it wouldn't be accurate and a waste of time" Not once did anyone offer to help - not any eye contact was made - and not one smile in greeting. I am disappointed in our local nursery -- this is not the first experience like this lately. Do the owners know ??? Do they care or does it matter since they are the only gig in town? It's way worth it to me now - to drive the extra milage to go to Cedar City and enjoy a nursery that appreciates business coming in the door. read more

Stopped by to buy some very large heavy pots, young guy there helped me get them loaded up, tried to tip him and he said it was not necessary and politely refused to take the tip!! Good people, great customer service!! read more

As I was leaving the store with the plants I paid for an older woman came at me in the doorway . with dark hair she hastily accused me of not paying for the product... she was corrected by the younger staff person who exemplifies customer service. I recall interacting with this person once before, and having to dismiss her lack of true care in the job. Perhaps she's forgotten that customers are the lifeblood of any business.... not targets for your bad mood, and lack of kindness. If you don't like the job, just quit and find another one... why should we have to put up with your bad attitude? In the end, the company suffers as she was rude and it set me off a little bit as she did not apologize... something like this, are you a thief, no OK then, i'll just shut up and go away now... no customer service. As a manager, if eyewitnesses, I will send that person home for the week, no pay. As I don't want to lose my customers. It's a shame as most of the interactions I had there were professional We all know how these situations should be managed, and if you have intolerant and cranky/grumpy staff, addressing your customers on the way out after they've paid in full, and not offering me a single bit of assistance, which I clearly needed, then I will not shop here anymore. Terrible...but this place can be avoided....HD right down the street and they seem to care about their customers experience a lot read more

Nursery is great but this is for the rockery. It's Saturday at 1:30 and they are closed. Their statement is if there is no customers they close. Hmm. I am a customer am i not? They said go to other location and they closed two hours earlier. Horrible. read more

I came here to write a bad review about quintin but I realized he recently had another bad review not even a month ago. John D went through the same situation I went through I was trying to buy a shovel and I decided to go with the cheaper one that was on sale he insisted that I go with the wooden shovel when I clearly said that I did not want them after I found that they were on sale. After i somewhat aggressively told him I want the ones that are on sale he tried to grab the shovel from me but I yanked it away. I don't have anything positive to say about quintin and I'm surprised that he even got this job considering how incompetent he seems, definitely deserves to be let go to put it lightly. I would not recommend anyone come to work for this nursery while he is there. I will continue to come to this nursery but I will refuse to be served by quintin. I went to this location, as my local (Dixie Blvd) location was out of a rather rare plant for this area. I was instructed by the cashier to simply visit the Sunset location, as she physically walked out to the yard manager and confirmed that the plant was out of stock. She phoned the nearest location (Sunset) and confirmed that they did indeed have the plant in stock. She requested that the plant be set aside for me, as it was only about ten minutes away. When I arrived at the Sunset location, the girl at the register gave me a warm good morning, and the plant was waiting on the register not being used, with my name "tagged" on some ribbon. This level of coordination is simply not found in multi- billion dollar companies. The manager was even aware that I was to be picking up this plant! I love that I have a worthy option to a store that I love to shop at! Shout out to Heather (I think?) for helping me select the best fertilizer for my needs! read more

I recently came in to buy some pesticides for my trees. I was hoping to be helped by someone who knew what they were doing but I was met with the new cashier Quinten. He obviously didn't know what my situation was and proceeded to recommend a product I clearly stated that didn't work when I used it. Quinten became frustrated and got firm with me. Trying to hand me the product. I finally agreed with him and that id try the product one more time, as we went to the front he gave his life story which wasn't very professional and made me uncomfortable. It didn't seem like I was the only one uncomfortable the two younger employees that were near him seemed a little uncomfortable. Star needs to get there act together and better train there new employees. read more

Our gravel order was a mess with a side of order of attitude. I walked the 'yard' with a rep from the Nursery and identified a gravel I liked. The order was written up and paid for. When the order arrived it was salt and peppered with a crushed lava stone that was strewn with much lighter, almost white lava, as well as a dissimilar rock that was not lava. We cancelled a second order and took an in store credit. Picking and sorting out the off color stone has been at best a hassle. The rep that helped me was snide and disbelieving that the stone didn't match what we had viewed in the store yard. So much for integrity and service. read more

I just had my first and last experience at star nursery. Couldn't find anybody to help me, and when I asked someone I was told she needed to go to the cash register . I went back in line and asked again and was guided to the manager, whom I never found. I finally gave up went back in my car and called them to get help. Still could not get the manager on the phone to help me find what I was looking for and was told that I'd be better off looking online since I had a special planting system. Not very helpful at all and very disappointing. read more

I have been shopping here for about 3 years now because they have great plants, especially the Monrovia brand. The high-school age cashiers can't really answer any questions, but there is an older gentleman who works with the plants, and he really knows his plants and how to care for them. It is obvious that he has a lot of background and experience with plants, additives, and irrigation and is a gardener himself. Also, TC I think is her name, is very friendly and helpful with flowers. The other nurseries in town seem to be staffed with a bunch of kids who don't know the answers to plant questions, but this store has a couple of really knowledgeable people now. I only wish they would have more staff. read more

When calling to obtain information, the person who worked there hung up on me before I could ask a question. I called back again and asked for the manager, she did the exact same thing! I just wanted to know if the store was open tomorrow, it wasn't a lengthy phone call. It is such a shame that they are treating customers like that over the phone. Disclaimer: I am DEAF and I have to use a specific phone service that allows me to communicate with hearing people, it takes some time however it gets the job done. I bought some plants in the morning, then went back in the afternoon for several more. I selected the best hedgehog ($35)I could find, but was concerned at how it looked. I asked the cashier if it was even alive and she assured me it was good. When I got home to plant it, I laid it on its side to remove it. The plant simply fell off, totally separated from the roots and dirt in the container. When I returned it for a refund, I was given a store credit. I asked why when I returned a plant that was dead. She said store policy is store credit for dead plants. I asked why they sell dead plants. She told me that it wasn't dead, that's the way that plant is - not IN soil, and that it would grow once planted, i.e. set on top of the ground. I asked why it was sold in a three-gallon container if there were not roots. Didn't get an explanation. I never did figure out whether it was dead since she went both ways on that. Next week I'll go buy my last plant at Star Nursery with the store credit. read more

Wish I could leave 0 stars. No one wants to work. They say they close at 6 pm but if you show up at 5:30 the manager refuses to help because she wants to close the store not help the customer. Happened at 2 different locations. I've never seen a business so unorganized. read more

I have frequented all 3 St. George locations many times. The Sunset and Dixie stores both have enraged me at least once. At the Sunset store a male who was cashiering finished with the male customer in front of me inline, closed his register, stepped in front of the counter and started a conversation with a female employee, completely ignoring the fact that I was waiting for checkout. When he finished his conversation he simply walked away. This morning I went to the Dixie store to buy more plants, to match what I had bought last week (there also since stock between the stores is inconsistent). I picked up a few that were discounted in addition to 7-8 that were full price. At checkout I informed the clerk of the discount prices, she called for a manager (assumed) to enter the discount code, eventually, there were 2 'in-charge' personnel who argued back and forth, talking over me, and the cashier, whether I was lying about their posted prices. One even mocking me saying that if they were that price that none were for sale because she would buy them all. I absolutely regret that I went ahead and purchased the plants instead of telling them that they needed learn their own stock and leaving everything there. I won't be happy looking at those plants for a long time. Some of the staff seems to be entitled, customers are just there to interrupt their personal lives, don't know where they find them.. I will head to Lowe's or Home Depot for plants now, or make the drive to Cedar or Mesquite. read more
