Ok seriously the most relaxing pedicure I've ever received. I had an older woman and she gave me such a relaxing comfortable pedicure. She rubbed my legs and feet for a while which felt so good. I did get the premium pedi but if that's why she gave such a good massage I'd do it almost weekly! They were super clean and had you wash your hands as soon as you got into the building. Things I loved about Star Nails: -There is a sign in sheet to keep track of customers who are waiting for service -The salon is clean (each pedicure station has its own clorox spray bottle) -No one tried to convince me to get a gel manicure (Other salons always push this more expensive service) I went to Star Nails with my dad for a (regular)mani/pedi. We knew from a friend that the salon is busy even during what some might consider "off peak" hours so we were prepared to wait. We ended up waiting for 15-20 minutes as all the techs were busy with other customers. But the time passed quickly looking at all the nail polish colors. The salon offers Essie, China Glaze, and OPI polishes. The techs were friendly and worked efficiently. I believe it's been about 2 years that I have been going here to get my pedicures. And now, Jeni is the only person that I trust to give me a great pedicure. Having suffered from many ingrown toenails and have had many food surgeries, Jeni is consistant, gentle, kind and does a fabulous job. Just this past Sunday Jeni suggested that I try their gel nails. I don't normally do my nails but treated myself as for the New Year. Love Them. Nothing like acrylics as I had originally thought. They dry via UV light and are rock solid and shining when you leave the salon. The owner, Sam, is a gem and always addresses you by name and manages to squeeze me in for an appointment whenever I need one. Extremely clean and sanitary as well. This is my place now. I want to first say that this is the MOST AMAZING nail salon in the region!!! The staff is all family, they speak good English and are very professional!! I have been a customer for over 7 years and I won't go anywhere else!! The shop is clean and you can depend on the people to always provide excellent service. To respond to the complaints, I will say that the salon is VERY busy and most people make an appointment. You may NOT be able to just walk in. The staff is usually booked. Sometimes I can't even get the appointment I want because they are booked so solid and I make an appointment 2 weeks in advance!!!!! And they KNOW ME!!! So, treat this business like you would a doctor's office and not a minute clinic. They are extremely good at their craft; they provide an artistic service to their customers and are in high demand. I will always speak highly of them. They treat all people with respect with no regard to age, race or color, as long as people are respectful of them. Came in on Sunday at 10am.. they open at 9:30am... walked in 4 names on the sheet no one waiting. Go to sign in and this man asks me what I'm getting done.. I say a pedicure and a gel refill.. he says he is pretty booked already and turns me away... very disappointed in the delivery of what he said. I felt like it was because I'm a young African American woman walking in a shop in a mostly color coded area. I will gladly take my 75 dollars worth of services to another establishment since this one doesn't want my Service.. I've seen pictures of services done my Tam I think so if you are a black girl see if you can make a appointment with her before walking in so you won't get turned away and fyi I am a young professional and came after my morning workout. read more

It's ridiculous that if I walk in two hours before they closed they can't give me a pedicure and a eyebrow wax. I was told that I could only get the wax because they were booked. I've been to a lot of different salons in NCC and this is by far the best. Bill answers the phone, knows me by the sound of my voice and gets me an appointment with Tam as soon as he can. Tam is the best! I have been to anyone else there but read the other reviews to hear how great they are. There is no upsell (I just ignore them from other salons anyway like I have temporary loss of hearing). If you want to run in without an appointment and run out in a half an hour, it is not going to happen. They are very busy because they are great at what they do. I would go as far to say that this place is by far the best in the tri-state area. I'd bet that plenty of people also come from Jersey, considering I come from Phila. It's not only their quality product they have imported that out lasts all others(n esp if u get pink n white liquid gel), but their goal of making all 10 nails look flawless. There's nothing worse then leaving a salon dissatisfied with ur nails except for having ur nails start to break 2 days after paying all that money for them to look nice. I've never been burned so badly getting a wax before. The lady who did it thought it was ok to chit chat while letting the wax dry on my face ripping off a good layer of skin. Not only that but she argued with me about how I don't know how it's supposed to be done. I left there with a technician basically calling me a baby because I was "whining". There are so many people who work here (that weren't doing anything) and yet I waited over an hour to be taken care of. I got acrylics with gel on top and they messed my nails up. They were bumpy and not even at all. I went to another salon recently and they asked me if I even had someone qualified do my nails. They are extremely overpriced as well. This is a great salon! I had a gel manicure and eyebrow wax and both were better than any salon I've been to in the area. The gel has not chipped or peeled at all and I am coming up on 8 days since it was applied. The technician was very sweet and took the time to explain to me how to take good care of my nails (I am trying to grow them for my wedding). I am excited to have found my new nail place, and they only charge $5 more than the old place where the manicure was poor and the gel peeled within a couple of days. They do charge for acetone soak-off but it's nominal. I am going back this week for a color change and possibly a pedicure! read more

After a bad experience with a different salon, I went to Star Nails a few days before my wedding to get my acrylics re-done. I was so impressed and it is the best that my nails have ever looked. I wish I lived there so I could get them done there all the time. The owner was really nice and made a point to take care of each guest. Very rude male employee barely spoke with me and just shook his head no to tell me he wouldn't help me. Told me it would take until 8:30 to provide services....a 90 minute pedicure???? Okay. First of all, they say "walk-ins welcome", however if you do not have an appointment you will seriously be there FOREVER for the most basic service. I went to this salon on my birthday to get a gel manicure. Their prices were very high in comparison to other local nail salons for gel nails. I decided against doing it due to the outrageous price in comparison to my usual salon. So I opted for a regular manicure I was there for over 2 HOURS for this simple service.
