Came in town and wanted to see why there was such good hype about this place. Firstly, hands down what an amazing experience! Mike and Tamara are such good down to earth grounded people. Mike helped me navigate through a few bourbons and discussed a few new distilleries. Mike was excellent in his referrals having tried most everything we were interested in. I rarely see this amount of participation from store owners or interaction with customers. He must have said hi to five people by first name as we talked about different expressions. The selection of craft beers was also outstanding. They even do their own barrels and collaborations with local breweries for the store! My favorite part was that the Prices are the best you are going to find in Durango!! Also the store is very clean and welcoming. Would recommend 1000%. read more

One of the best liquor stores I've ever been to anywhere. Phenomenal wine and whiskey selection and very decent prices. They have wines from around the world and a huge variety - Italy, France, Spain, etc, and at all price ranges. DRC, Beaucastel, plenty of Chiantis, etc. A very good stop for bourbon as well. read more

The low reviews were from years ago and this place has obviously listened to all the criticism and improved. Customer service is great, the staff is knowledgeable and always willing to help you find what you need. They've offered to special order specific products for me if they don't have them in stock, but this rarely happens as they have one of the best selections in town. Cell service is bad but they now have wifi so you can use Vivino or Untappd or whatever apps or websites you use inside the store to find your next drink. Throw in their rewards program that's free to sign up for and Star is easily the best liquor store in Durango. read more

Rating: negative. I am a looong time customer, rewards and all. Some punk yesterday checking me out. No class. I won't describe the verbal abuse however I walked out and never again. We just moved to town in October and have visited Star liquors several times since being in town. Don't judge me, it's 2020! Anyway, this place is the best. They have a wonderful selection with lots of variety, including several types of hard kombucha which my husband loves (he has a wheat allergy). We love the store dog Bubbles and look forward to visiting her when we come. They also have hop scotch painted on the floor in 3 places which my kiddo, who sometimes has to tag along, gets a real kick out of. Let's be honest, it's fun for adults too. Not once has the staff allowed me to leave without assistance to my car even when I try to convince them I'm okay alone. It's a great store, friendly staff and it's highly unlikely we'll go anywhere else! read more

Star Liquors is the place to go for any of your liquor needs. They have the widest variety of liquor in town and if you can't find what you're looking for, they can probably order it for you. Every time we arrive into town, my first stop is Star Liquors for ice and booze as we head up the mountain to the house. I'm from Chicago and I am always amazed at the outstanding selection of beer, wine and spirits at Star. The store is extremely clean and the staff is always friendly and helpful! They were even giving a free bag of ice away with every purchase when we where there in July (nice touch). We are coming back to Durango the end of October and I am looking forward to a few more visits. read more

I have only had positive experience at this store. Been in about 5-10 times. Great selection. Staff has always been nice. Look for product when I ask. Walk me over to it. Prices are equal or cheaper than other stores in town. 4 stars because it's impossible to get a cell signal in the store and it would be great if they offered WiFi. It's impossible to search for a wine review or pairing. Impossible to text someone that they are out of the beer you came for. But, if you don't need to contact the outside world this place is 5 star. read more

They've got a good selection of some things. Tequila and whiskey selections are fantastic the best I've seen anywhere. However the service is terrible. Employees need training on customer service. Most rude people I've ever encountered in a liquor store. read more

The biggest and best liquor store PLUS they have the best prices in Durango. One stop shop for everything from local Colorado Whiskey to box wine. I also just placed a special beer order with them and they were able to get a specific beer for me, and get it fast! Terrible and inconsistent customer service. I just don't go in there anymore because most of the staff is, putting it quite simply - rude. If they 'know' you, you are greeted by name, if they don't, expect cold treatment and barely a 'thank you' for bringing them your business. I've experienced that a number of times. They turn on and off like a light switch depending on whether they know you. There are many other choices for liquor stores in the area with equivalent selections, so until the owner changes/trains his staff with the customer in mind, I'll go elsewhere. read more

Good selection and pricing but ruined by employee rudeness. We went there on Friday and entered to win a keg, an employee was rude about our age and extremely unhelpful. The same service should be given to everyone 21 and up, especially since no one is breaking any laws. read more
