We were here for the breakfast and three of us ordered off the menu, and two of us just had to be fussy and order various items individually. They catered to every wish! The coffee was fantastic and they even had skimmed milk (YEY!) I had the English breakfast with poached eggs, and apart from some hollandaise sauce that appeared on my eggs (I don't like hollandaise sauce!) it was all very yummy. The mushrooms were cooked with rosemary and the cumberland sausage was delicious. I was not keen on the bacon, but that's probably because it was smoked and I'm not a fan of food tasting like sweet smoke. My fellow breakfastarians between them tried the Eggs Special Royal (to celebrate our new princess!) which was apparently delicious, but came with cold avocado under the egg, which made the temperature of the whole dish a little odd. There were no other complaints though and we all agreed to go back very soon. Lovely place!

It was very busy when I arrived and I was unsure as to whether I should sit straight down or order at the bar - but after asking a friendly member of staff, I made myself comfortable with a menu. I opted for the Full English and a white Americano off of the Brunch menu. My food turned up before my coffee but I wasn't too fussed - I could sympathise with the busy staff having worked in hospitality for many years myself. Both the breakfast and coffee were lovely and good value for money. Afterwards, I ordered a Bloody Mary to take the edge off and oh my Gosh, it was hands-down the best Bloody Mary I have ever tasted. The waiter asked me what spice I'd like and as a bit of a wimp, I opted for a 3 out of 10 and it was absolutely perfect - garnished with green olives, celery, a lemon wedge and a sprinkle of pepper. Divine! I stayed at The Gantry for the majority of my day working and therefore spoke with the staff a few times. I enquired as to a nearby plug and the waiter found me one behind an armchair and plugged my charger in for me as well - very kind! Overall, I'd highly recommend it but would opt to come when it's a bit less hectic next time. I will definitely be returning!

The cheesecake was quite (nicely) light, I could have done with more base and less cherry, but it was lovely. I noticed on the menu board that they also serve hot meals such as chicken Milanese and vegetable tortilla salad. the place is very sweet and really really warm. (As someone who is always cold, it was bliss - but if it's warm enough for me, then I suspect it could be too warm for others.) The service was very friendly and I will be coming back here to try out the lunch menu.

Amazing coffee Gorgeous, simple food Orgasmic cakes 1950's tunes Clean, vintage inspired design Friendly service The plan was to meet David and Sarah for brunch at 11. I had missed David's leaving drinks before he goes to Afghanistan for a couple of months and wanted to see him before he left and we all wanted to go support Jules since A&M has just opened- so it worked out. I had a white americano while I was waiting for my friends to arrive and I immediately knew I was in good hands. For brunch, my hung over self decided to skip any pretence of eating something healthy and had the Sexy Toast with scrambled egg and chorizo. This toast is seriously sexy and not just because the bread has a French name- campaillou. (A sour dough with a open, irregular texture.) It was toasted Goldilocks, "Just. . . right. . ." The egg was moist and the chorizo gave it a nice bite. After eating and chatting and digesting we were compelled by Jules bringing out a chocolate Guinness cake and a carrot cake under glass cake domes to each have a slice. It would have been rude not too... Oh. My. God. (Claps hands and jumps up and down.) Enter superlatives HERE. Along with fab food, coffee and cake, there is a friendly buzz. There was a mix of folks like me and my friends and cute parents with cuter kids. It's a happy place. After sitting there for two hours and feeling a bit guilty when people came in looking for a table, we reluctantly left. Two coffees, scrambled egg and chorizo on toast and a slice of cake was 11£ and some change. David tweeted later: @davidwebb_uk Wonderful brunch at @ArloMoe with @treefroggirl and @Potty4pink. Could have stayed there all day. I'd be fat and happy :) #se4 Happy and fat indeed. I will be back and I have already planned what I am going to have when I go... If you are near Crofton Park/Brockley/Honor Oak Park swing by. If you aren't, it's well worth your the trip!

Wow! What an amazing newcomer to Lewisham! We are in much need of more restaurants of this standard…read moreto bring people to the area. I've had my eye on Sparrow for a while and it is always busy when I go past and have seen it promoted a lot on social media. So I'm so excited that I finally got to try it. I would award the restaurant 4.5/5 if I could, but as I can't, I'm being more generous! My first recommendation would be to book a table. When we arrived there was some confusion with our booking and they didn't have anything available, but we were lucky in the end to get a table but were restricted to 1hr 10 mins due to the next booking. We were shown to our table and our waiter came over, he was really friendly and explained the menu to us. The menu is intended to be a sharing menu, so you order a few dishes per person and dig in. Food comes out in no particular order, and you generally don't get more than one dish at a time. Each dish it a proper sized meal, it is not tapas style portions. My friend and I decided to go for the popcorn chicken, lamb chops, mushroom risotto and beef brisket with a portion of bread. I felt like the dishes got better and better as we went along. The bread was lovely and enough to take the edge off our hunger until the dishes started to come out. First came our popcorn chicken with dashi mayo, it was really tasty and the batter had great flavour. No nasty bits of chicken either, which can sometimes be the case, all good pieces of meat. I really loved it. Next came the lamb chops, neither my friend or I were particularly blown away with the lamb, I did like the accompanying tahini and pomegranate salsa but found the lamb a tad overdone and charred with a few burnt mouthfuls. The presentation was very good however! We then enjoyed the mushroom risotto with goats curd. It was creamy and delicious with chunks of mushrooms, it had quite a rich flavour and we both really enjoyed it. I probably could have eaten the entire portion alone, it was so good. Our final and favourite dish was the beef brisket which was served in a kind of curry sauce with a bowl of rice. The meat was perfectly tender and the sauce was tasty and it was helpful that it came with rice, so another side wasn't needed. It had a lot of different textures that came together well. I really wanted more of that dish, it was really very good. Each dish had amazing flavour and didn't need any additional seasoning. Each dish was very unique and would be an excellent stand alone dish. I think by having a limited menu helps them to do each dish really well. I was really impressed and would definitely recommend Sparrow to friends and family. After our meal we sat at the small bar to finish our drinks and got chatting to the restaurant owner, the wife of the husband and wife team that own and run it. She was really nice and we gave our feedback and she spoke to us about how has been since it launched. She was really friendly and very passionate about good food. The restaurant is expensive by Lewisham standards, but then there isn't really anything directly comparable to Sparrow in the area. If I were to eat that standard of food in central London I would certainly expect to pay the price we did. It is only fair to reward the good quality. You don't mind paying when you get an excellent meal. I will definitely be going back, but would like to try brunch next time and have my eye on their pancakes! If the dinner menu changes every so often, I would like to return to try some of the new creations. Let's hope that Sparrow will encourage lots of new decent restaurants to open in Lewisham! This place has proved that people in the area want it!

Excellent Service, tasty drinks, great ambiance and delicious food. The family has already made plans to go back!

The cookie was packed full of chocolate chips and tasted wonderful. It was very crumbly but I liked this about it. I can only imagine it warm and gooey - NOM. Next, the brownie. Moist and melt in the mouth, it was truly delightful BUT I couldn't really taste the salted caramel, it just wasn't strong enough over the chocolate. Still a great brownie.
