Breakfast joints are hard to come by in Central London. That is why I am so pleased to have found Eatsies. Sure, it appears as if they specialise in lunch foods, what with their long list of 'Gourmet Wraps', sandwiches and salad bar, but they're open at 8:00am and provide things like sausage rolls, eggs on toast, bagels, muffins, beans and porridge.
So, I wasn't blown away by my poppy seed bagel with a fried egg, but I wasn't looking to be blown away by it, especially. It hit the spot and went down a treat with a cup of breakfast tea.
In fact, based on the taste of my breakfast alone, I'd give Eatsies three stars. But since it is one of the only places open for breakfast in the area around my office, I'm bumping the rating up. I'm nice like that.
Importantly, Eatsies has a good amount of indoor seating as well as outdoor seating (I'll save sitting outside for the warmer months, though). Too many cafes in this area have no seating. What's that about?
Plus, everything on the menus (breakfast and lunch) is super cheap.
I love cheap food. I mean, I love the clearance shelves at Sainsbury's, those ones with banged up tins of tomatoes. I'm all about those.
Furthermore, I suspect the lunch is pretty damn tasty. I'm going to go back in for the 'Gourmet Meze Wrap' soon (including halloumi, hummous and olives among other things).
Or maybe their 'Gourmet Fish Finger Wrap'. Even though I feel anything that joins 'gourmet' and 'fish finger' is highly suspect. I'll do it all in the name of Yelp research. read more
