I came in today to return an item from Amazon because it's where I was directed to return it. I got in line behind 2 people before me. When it's my turn, I walk up to the counter and say, hi, how are you doing? Charles looks at me and doesn't say a word. Starts fidgeting with his AirPods and then grabs his cell phone and starts messing with that. Then he puts down his personal cell phone and picks up another phone to scan my item. Never says a word to me - just kinda grunts at me. Your reviews for Amazon returns are terrible and I see why! In the past month I have been to the store 4 times for Amazon Returns, and the store is NEVER EVER CLEAN! Trash on the floor, unpacked inventory boxes waiting to be unloaded, empty bins and empty shelves. Oh, and heaven forbid if you have to use the restroom, they are downright filthy, not sure the last time someone cleaned them. So other than returns for Amazon, I do not go there. read more

The older woman with long, straight gray hair was exceptionally rude. Instead of directing me to the return desk just 50 feet away, she tried to send me to a UPS store down the road. Her attitude and lack of basic helpfulness, friendliness, and problem-solving skills were genuinely surprising. This will likely be the rare retail review I ever write due to career bias... However, this Staples is local to my parents in which case I've frequented for random one off needs for likely 15 years in whims. Even amid all the challenges retail is currently facing, this location continues to feel consistent and uninterrupted with how they operate. Inventory, staffing levels, and team morale appear pretty unchanged, which is of course a big win. With that covered, I want to talk specifically about the staff and the UPS/Print Center where the majority of my interaction takes place. The team is always super friendly and personable, appear to enjoy doing what they do, and are really helpful. This particular visit was very difficult on an emotional level due to a family emergency. The team at the photo shop delivered in an exceptional manner doing everything they could to help me with a print need with an extremely short window of time to work with. They were empathetic, efficient, and exceeded expectations. I unfortunately can't recall the young ladies name that assisted, but Steve is who called and left my voicemail. Both - Wonderful! Staples? The last of the big office supply chains still has a significant presence in the market. We don't need their services often but we were looking for a store that offer digital passport photos. They offered the service. The manager and his colleagues were professional and cognizant of their capabilities and what the store offered. They offered photos in digital and hard copy format. The person that helped was fast, thorough and personable. The sales were pretty good as well. I recommend Staples for your office supply and digital photo needs. read more

I mean is the staple broken?! I cane in for a BOPIS order and I was told I needed to bring my ID. I was gonna have someone else pick it up, but couldn't amend the pick up person in a last minute change of plans. So here I am driving up there with ID in hand, do you think they verified who I was? No. So I could've done what I needed in the first place. Rude. I rolled up in there and the cashier look bothered that I had an order no hi nothing. Okay cool. He shuffles over and picks out this box that must've fell off the Will E Coyote cliff. Then asks me what I ordered. I mean doesn't he have that info? Then I sign the pad after it fails a few times. Then he hands me this disheveled box. No sir, I don't need that in my car. I ask him to bag it. I should've done it myself bc that took forever. Needless to say just this one task seemed like I was bothering him. I love how when I walked out the was a hole in the wall from the pallet cart of paper in the wall. We simply love this Staples in Williamsburg, VA. Wonderful staff, always trying to please their customers. We purchased an office chair for our law school son and decided to purchase a three-year warranty. As luck would have it, a few months later there was a tear across the seat of the chair. The store manager asked us to file a claim and we brought the chair in. A new chair was waiting for us. The staff offered to load the chair into our car. Once again, we purchased the warranty never expecting another issue. Today we noticed a tear on the right side arm rest. The manager Steve together with two workers sprang into action offering us to select between 2 chairs (one in black and one in brown) that were available immediately. Again, the staff offered to bring the chair to our car and help us load it. We are senior citizens and we purchased thousands of dollars of merchandise from Staples in other states over the decades. Hands down, this Staples is THE BEST we have ever had the pleasure to work with: friendly, professional and so very, very accommodating. You guys rock!!! I had a very good experience with this Staples. I called ahead to see if I can have some birthday invitations printed out and they assured me I can come up there and have it done. When I got there on my lunch break around 11:30a the printing department was pretty busy but I didnt have to wait very long. When I spoke to the staff member I told them I had a front and back pdf on my phone and she told me the email address to send it to which I did. It popped up on their screen moments after and she was able to show me how it would come out on her screen. It looked great! I ordered 25 copies which came with envelopes as well and and I was told the order would be ready by 4pm. That worked out because I got off work at 5 and was able to swing back and pick them up. AMAZING customer service. My laptop stopped charging through its C port, even after purchasing a new charger. I brought the laptop into the store and a tech plugged it in another jack and it started to charge. I purchased a 'universal charger' but it didn't fit my computer. The manager, Steve, was very helpful to return the universal charger. Then, since I needed the computer that same day, he actually gave me their store's charger that fit the second jack. He didn't charge me for it. My computer is still covered by the 2 year protection plan, so I will be contacting Assurion later to see about getting the C port fixed. Some people like to watch the big game, others prefer philately or darts. Me, I write reviews about office supply shops. As printer ink costs as much as unicorn blood, I have long since ditched my own HP Deskjet Paperweight and instead use the self-service printing center at Staples a couple times a month. This branch has three all-in-one printer/scanner machines, and one is usually frozen. I appreciate the humane printing prices ($0.12 per black-and-white sheet) and generally functional machinery on hand. The touchscreen interfaces are often spangled with dandruff so it's a good idea to wash your hands after using them. The place is pretty clean otherwise and I appreciate the adequate lighting. I forgot my flash drive in one of those machines. A platoon of dudes swooped in and rummaged around the printing center while I waited. It was quite flattering. Then, dude #3 was most apologetic and said he couldn't find it. I gave him my name & number, and four days later the store called and explained how they had found it. I fired up my mauve Lamborghini, the one I drive on Thursdays, and hastened over to the shop where they had the errant flash drive in a lost-and-found drawer. The dudes at the registers are enormously helpful and understanding, too. I enjoyed a fruitful exchange about an otherwise soul-demolishing subject, namely the purchase of a modem-router thing so I don't have to pay an usurious $9.99 per month to rent one from Cox. Buyer Beware! The ultimate display of incompetence! Needed Three copies of 18" x 24" and the girl who was in the copy center said she could not make them due to there was another "job" scheduled on the next day and she could not make prints for me because she had to take the jobs in the order they came in. NOT ONE MACHINE WAS ACTUALLY ON! I just needed three quick copies and I asked to speak with a manager. The manager was arrogant and rude. This Staples is in an older-looking building, but the inside looks like every other Staples. The difference with this visit at this particular location was that I was barely in the store and was greeted by an associate who helped me find exactly what I was looking for, and I was in and out in a hurry. The manager, John, went above and beyond what I would expect any store to do, especially a chain, to help me with my order I inadvertently put in from Hampton Roads (I assumed we had a pick up store here). I went in to have some items printed. While waiting my turn at the print center, I decided to just print them myself in the self service area.I inserted my credit card and usb drive, the item printed. The paper was flimsy, dingy white and not heavy as it is when I have Staples stores around the country print it (I travel a lot and print locally rather than carry the extra weight). Thank goodness I only printed one and could see the poor quality right away. I took my USB drive up to the printing counter and told the clerk behind the counter that I would rather have them print them since their quality is going to be so much better. That's when the garbage started flying out of her pie hole. "it's the same thing" she said" it's the same kind of machine it's going to look exactly like that that does" she said. I said well we'll see. "maybe your machines are different from all of the other Staples in the country". And she printed out a sample and tossed it on the counter. The paper was much heavier the print was clear and it was a much cleaner copy I laid it beside the one I printed thinking I could teach her something aboit her job. I was trying, very nicely, to jelp her! I said you can see they are much different. "Yes but it's the same paper" I said "no it's not this is 22 pound and you printed on 24 lb... it's a little heavier, it's very white and it's a better quality". I just can't understand why someone serving customers feels they need to they be so disrespectful or speak about things they nothing of. Was she intentionally lying? Just lazy? or just thought she needed to be a bully and bossy? She's in the wrong line of work. she needs to stay away from anything that has to do with customer service. I left happy with the prints but very frustrated with her attitude. Others in the store were nice but she ruined it by being so bullyishly wrong. Purchased an office chair - one of the nice ones - and paid for assembly. Well Staples does not ship it assembled. Instead you have to have it delivered and then a "technician" comes out at a later date - i.e.., you take half a day off from work - to assemble the chair. Well these "technicians" actually pass a criminal background check. Wow. Now if they were only taught to read a clock. You bet, took the afternoon off, the SOB never showed - though he sent me a voicemail indicating he saw my car parked in my driveway. Apparently the technicians from the Staples National Assembly Service only ring the doorbell on Halloween. If you call Staples, the4y put you on perpetual hold.
