Thankfully, I had the pleasure of being helped by the store owner, Tish, who completely turned the experience around. Tish was patient, empathetic, and extremely knowledgeable. She didn't make me feel embarrassed for not knowing, but instead took the time to explain everything in detail so that I could make the best choice. I know nothing about batteries, currents, charges and all those other associated words. But you know who does? These guys. Friendly customer service, knowledgeable, quick to find me what I needed - I was in and out in seconds. AND they tried to save me money. I needed watch batteries for an online banking card reader from the UK and needed four of them which would have come to over $20. They gave me a different battery that still works and cost me $14 in a multipack. Yes, it's cheaper on Amazon - but I needed something ASAP. I appreciate all their efforts, but sadly the batteries didn't work as they were just a bit too thin in width and wouldn't press down on the contact strips fully. I should have taken the reader with me, really, but regardless, impressive customer service, even if it is a bit pricey in here. read more

Who doesn't need batteries? Batteries in my tire pressure gauge quit working. I don't usually buy them to keep them around because they don't last more than a year. Joshua and Trish (Hope I've got their names right) were quite helpful in helping me understand how quickly they deteriorate because of the type batteries they are. I came here on a Monday to get my phone screen replaced. They offer a 6 month warranty on screens as well. Marc and the manager were here and assisted me. They said it would take an hour to finish but it only took 30 minutes! In addition, Marc cut his lunch break early to assist me with this! The screen replacement is definitely pricier but they provide great quality and exceptional service. I hope to never come here for another screen replacement, but if I ever need to get another one, I will definitely come here! Just horrible experience with this Williamsburg location. Extremely disrespectful people. Called them to pay over the phone. Wanted to make my brother a present and pay for his phone repair. Guy said " people like you make my job horrible" because I called him the second time that day. And he hang up on me. Horrible customer service! Pissed off. Spent $130 getting my screen repaired a month ago. Paid for them to put on tempered glass and put on a heavy duty case. Broke within a month. No warranty would have to pay another $130 to get it fixed. Maybe they do other things well, but I don't think you should get your phone screen repaired here. read more

My husband just bought a battery st the Williamsburg store. As he started to leave, he noticed that the battery he bought did not have the exact number as the one he's replacing. He went back to the sales person and asked about the difference. I dropped my iPhone on an asphalt road and the screen broke entirely, even through a glass screen protector. The only thing displaying on my phone were barcode-like lines. I panicked, as I needed my phone urgently for various errands, so I came into Batteries + Bulbs, where two incredibly kind young men calmed my nerves and thoroughly explained to a non-tech savvy gal how they were going to fix my problem. They definitely knew what they were talking about. After filling out a few forms, the guys went straight to work. I got a phone call less than an hour later, saying that it was ready! I was so impressed with the quick, fairly-priced, reliable service, explanations, double-checks, and additional new screen protector! Highly recommend! read more

I have relied on this location for several "tech" needs, and they have normally have come through for me. They failed to provide good service on my past visit as they could not "jump-start" a well-known brand of watch. Very disappointing. To be honest, even though I did leave without the bulb I needed (which is why I originally came in) I left with about 5 other halogen bulbs which I was happy to finally find, a huge pack of batteries, and a new coin battery for my lamp timer remote. The young man who helped me was Shane, even though the store seemed busy and there was only other young man working, he was very helpful and knew the answers to my questions. I was offered to order the bulb I originally needed and have it delivered to the store for free which was nice but the price did seem higher than something I could find on Ebay. The prices are quite steep compared to somewhere like online or a big store like walmart, but I doubt anyone will even talk to you there, let alone teach you something. Good customer service but a tad too expensive so they lose a star there. read more

The manager, was most pretentious, surly and did not even know the meaning of the customer is always right, even after he filled an online order wrong. Full of excuses and maddening to all in the store as he tried blaming everyone including the store system bar coding system and manufacturer because he did not read the order to fill fully. I ordered 3 packs of Duracell Led A-19 bulbs. He filled two with A-19s and one A-21 which is a much larger bulb. All was provided in a bag which I wrongly presumed was filled correctly so I left the store only finding out that eve that he I filled the order wrong making me return the next day to return or get a replacement/refund. He remembered me fm the day before because of his banter that I did not appreciate and did not want to engage him I was only in the store to pick up an online order. As I showed him the pack he acknowledged it was the wrong item but because the packaging was all the same color he said it was the manufacture's fault for changing the internals putting the larger bulb in the same color box even though the package was clearly marked as A-21s. His attitude and constantly running his mouth only made matters worse. Instead of just saying sorry we do not have anymore A19 and issuing a refund he had to continue to blame everyone to include the store bar coding system when he obviously did not read the boxes he picked for the order. It was only after he had me so hot under the collar I asked him to provide me a refund and even that was an issue with him when I asked if he would need my credit card to complete the transaction. His surly attitude and belligerence was not at all appreciated nor will be tolerated for as long as he works there as I will take my business elsewhere. read more

I purchased a Panasonic CR2032 battery for my garage door opener about 3 months ago. I paid a premium for the battery as I did not want to change it frequently and I was assured that this model of battery was stronger than normal. The opener stopped working so I returned to have my battery checked (to determine if something else was wrong). This premium battery had died and since I had not purchased the replacement insurance, it was not replaced. It only cost me $6 to learn what "standing behind your product" and "good customer service" mean to this company. I went to Dollar Tree and bought a two-battery pack for $1 and the opener works fine. Truly awful customer service. Had a phone taken in to repair the screen. The store "claimed" that it passed their tests but upon use of the phone there was a lag and major discoloration. Called corporate and while they were polite enough, they ended up giving the information to a store in Tennessee. That manager was great and ended up getting me to talk to this store's district manager who was awful. Her name is Vicky and she went on a two minute rant about how "polite" she is to customers before I could even get two words in about the fact I wasn't even talking about her. Rather I was trying to explain what had happened. That being that their tech guy broke the home button and offered a discount as an alternative to fixing it. And that the women at the counter said "don't give me attitude, it's not my problem". This leaving Vicky saying a mere "oh....". Having managed the Williamsburg Radio Shack for 13+ years. I can tell you if my employees and a Manager at that had handled a customer like this store did to me they would not be working for me. I went in with a working iPhone albeit a cracked screen and a faulty home button yet a working phone that I had been using just as a video camera only to be left with a phone with a video camera that doesn't work at all. The manager was rude and accused me of being a customer who lied (his words, "how do we know that the video camera didn't work when you brought in?") and was trying to get something for nothing, so much so in front of me said he was Numb to it all (Meaning he could careless) he also left the store after that comment to be taken care of by a very nice, professional employee named Amber. The manager actually left the store! Amber was trying to apologize on behalf of the manager and I explained to her it was not her place to have to do that. I requested the name and contact for the store owner and was told they did not have it however they gave me the phone number to the district manager Vicki. I called Vicki and pretty much got the response that she could not assist me or make right on the situation. She said she would reach out to the store owner and have them contact me...crickets! I then contacted Corporate and was contacted by Jenny and was just told that unfortunately if anything was to be done it would be by the store owner. From corporate they could not do anything for me. I was told that the store owner was going to reach out to me last week and this week and I have yet to hear from the owner. They refunded my money was told sorry! I had to go out and purchase a refurbed iPhone 7 for $329 to shoot a video project this past week, the repair and and screen protector was $120+. Please let everyone you know to stay clear of the Williamsburg store as their moto is "We are numb to it all"! Meaning if you go in with a piece of equipment to get repaired only to have them make it not work after the repair you out of luck, sorry! I would suggest you go somewhere else!
