Staples sure saved my butt on this trip. My AC adapter to my laptop where I do a lot of my work on died on me right in the middle of working! Good thing the battery kicked in and kept me going for a little while. But I need to find a charger to charge the battery and keep working. I did a local search for computer supplies and office supplies and saw there's a Staples right near my hotel! I did a online search for a HP laptop AC adapter and they had one right there at the store! Wasn't super cheap, but you gotta do what ya gotta do. Went over there and found it no problem, paid with credit card and now I'm back in business! The adapter worked fine and I guess I'll just toss the old one. Super glad Staples was here to rescue me! This morning I brought my own canning labels and file on a flash drive. They guy behind the print counter was very helpful and efficient. I went in there without knowing a damn thing about printers and it was obvious I knew nothing, however not one single employee asked me how I was, or if I needed help. I bought this product 9/17/202 (Thursday) after work hoping to use it the following day. I opened the package and read the directions, plugged in the charging case. It says will fully charge in 2 hours. I waited the allotted time but, the light that shows it's fully charged was still red. ( it should turn blue when charged. I continued to let it charge. All night in fact. In the morning it was still red. I didn't have time to mess with it as I needed to be to work. I tried to return this faulty product today 9/21/2020 and was told that regardless if I used the product or not I wouldn't be able to return it because of Covid 19!!! Get the F out of here I'm not trying to return something because I didn't like it. IT DOES NOT WORK!!! I wanted to exchange it for a product that does work. They could have sent this particular product back to the manufacturer where they bought it and gotten full credit. But instead I was told they will not exchange the item nor allow me to return it. If you have time go to Santa Rosa and get your stuff done. Went here twice, First time I wanted to buy a tablet and dock. They didn't have what I wanted so asked me to use kiosk. I ordered at the kiosk and by the time I got home, I got emails and there were all kinds of problems. I had to reorder the tablet. Second time, I went in over 30 minutes before closing to get posters made. The two rude girls that were there said they were closed and I would have to come back. They were busy giggling and gossiping and seemed angry that I bothered them. Boooooooo to them. Do not shop on-line with Staples. They have trouble with the truth. And nobody who lies will get any money from me. I placed an order for about $100. They put that much money on hold on my credit card, but within the hour, I got an email saying the item was out of stock, my order was cancelled and I would not be charged. Well, my credit card showed that money was reserved by them, but I gave them a couple days to fix it. They didn't. I contacted customer service who kept repeating in a monotone "we did not charge you". (reading from an instruction sheet?) I asked for a supervisor who said they had automatically, electronically cancelled the hold on my money. No, it was still being held. She blamed the card company. I called my credit card company. Yes, the hold was still there, no request had been rec'd from Staples to release it, and by law they could not return it to my control for 7 days. Today was finally that 7 days and my card company release the funds back to me. Staples lies: (1) "We will not charge you" when they obviously did. (2) "The hold on your funds were automatically released when the order was cancelled". Nope, they never contacted my credit card company in any manner to release the funds. I understand errors, and complex computer issues. I do NOT understand, nor will I tolerate, lies. read more

TL;DR The general manager Bryan Ross is not only incredibly clueless and unhelpful, he's creepy and aggressive and unprofessional. The level of nonsense made me think he was on drugs and about to assault me. SO: I went here to go make my stickers and some woman was helping me and guiding me through the process and then left saying someone would be right with me so I was waiting- and the general manager walked up- who I had already heard from an employee yesterday is rude and unhelpful- Which he is. Like he tried to help me earlier and was pretty clueless (like, he was so unhelpful that it seemed like he just didn't want people shopping there). So he walked up and said that that woman had gone on break and I had to wait 30 mins for her, also that no one else was there to work the machines. I said "well I just want to print onto this sticker paper can we load these into a printer and do it?" Him "yeah we can print on this printer but these other two were broken" Me: "OK well then let's go to the printer that works" so we went over and I inserted my card as per his instruction. Me: "OK where do we load the paper?" Him: "oh we can't load paper in this one." Me: "then why did you make me just run my card?" Him "I told you we could make regular copies." Me: "...no you didn't... so? which printer does work?!" Him: "none of them." So I was like ooookkkayyyy. Then I walked over to the cashier to ask her where I had left my receipt and he literally was hounding me all the way to her cash register and when I went to ask her he wouldn't leave/ like literally just standing way too close for comfort and staring, honestly it was kind of creepy and seemed pretty aggressive. Me: " I just have a question for her now, can you go help other customers?" Him: "nope" Me: "do you have to observe customers conversations with other employees?" Him: "yup" Me: "is that store regulation?" Him: "yup. It's written down in our paperwork." Me:" can you show me where that's written down?" Him: " I need you to leave the store." I called Staples because I bought a printer there and I only used it twice and even though the protection plan that I purchased is expired they will not help me to me that's poor customer service. When people pay good money for computer products they expect the place that they purchased it from to stand behind their products and services they completely wash their hands of my situation and offered to recycle my printer for me. We have been regular customers at the Ukiah Staples store for years, purchasing several thousand dollars of office equipment and supplies over time. In 2017, we came in specifically to replace our broken $200 paper shredder and selected a new $200 shredder, similar to our old shredder. Our shredder gets heavy use and we buy top models at Staples, supporting local business and expecting quality equipment in return. It was a hectic day for us and our visit to Staples needed to be quick. We found an associate to help us take the shredder to the front of the store, then selected a few office items. We paid for our purchases and reminded the clerk about the shredder. We asked for help to put the shredder in the car, and a store manager assisted. On the long, hot drive home, I suddenly realized something didnt seem right about the transaction and asked my teenager to find the receipt. The shredder had not been rung up and wasnt paid for. I called Staples and asked for a manager. Noah came to the phone. I explained to Noah what happened and said I would call back in about 15 minutes when I could safely pull over and give credit card information over the phone. Noah seemed surprised and grateful. Fifteen minutes later, I called back as promised. Noah took the information, completed the purchase, then loudly told me it was a good thing I'd called, because he had reviewed store security video, found I had taken it without paying, and would have taken legal action. Because Noah spoke loudly, we realized he likely was playing it up for superiors so he wouldnt be blamed for merchandise leaving the store without payment. He was willing to throw us under the bus in order to protect himself, even though we immediately called, told him of the error, and paid for the shredder. Our entire Staples account information with phone number was on the transaction. We were easy to find, yet we found the error and called them, only to be treated like thieves. Since then, we go in only when absolutely necessary, and all large office purchases are taken elsewhere. Once Costco is open, it is doubtful we will ever shop at Staples again. read more

We have better office supply stores in this area. Yesterday we went in to recycle some ink cartridges and buy a new one only to discover that their computer system doesn't keep track of the reward points on the rewards card we have. We have $31 worth of rewards that have to be used before August but no way to prove it unless we bring in the letter we got (which of course we didn't have on us). Also, I have never received much in the way of customer service when I've shopped there. Better to go with a local store like Mendo-Lake Office supply than this "big box store." read more

I had placed an order online for a custom ink stamp around 4:30pm, and I called the store inquired about the possibility of picking it up the same day (the website stated that same day pick up is only available for orders placed before 4pm). To the computer repair service area. I brought in my laptop for repair. The tech quickly pulled out the memory and kept being distracted by a manager I believe, to where his attention was not directed to me or my PC. He quickly said I'd be better off to buy a new one without doing any diagnostics on mine I wasn't even offered the diagnostic service!. I ended up buying a new one, but for $99 more they would set it up. I finally got it 6 days later and the files they said they successfully transferred where not complete. My address book only had my address in it--I also was not told that ALL the software I have wouldn't be compatible with the new one. I took it back after 1 day of use to get my money back--of course I had to eat the $99 and had a little difficulty with the return because they said it had been "SERVICED"--the service was their "Premier Setup" BEWARE they just want to sell BTW--I got my old one fixed for $50 elsewhere! read more

If need help in the computer repair/tech department, I suggest you ask for Jon. I had spilled coffee on my laptop, and after frantically trying to dry it out myself, IT DIED! I took it to Staples with the hope that they could help me, I was lucky enough to have a very nice young man named Jon, help me. I had to leave it there a couple of days, but Jon took the keyboard off, gave it a good cleaning and returned it to me in perfect working condition. Now, I know most anyone can do that, but Jon did with a great attitude, he was very friendly, compassionate, understanding and most of all very competent with computers. THIS STORE EMPLOYS LIARS AND THIEVES. Tried to send a package through UPS here and the person who typed the label incorrectly entered the names of sender and recipient. I gave him my ID and a piece of paper with all the details yet he still couldn't manage to type correctly. He said he would just mark it correctly with a sharpie? Then the package never left. The last scan was the label but never that it was picked up, sorted or out for delivery. Then when you call they blame UPS for their locations problem. Staples admitted it couldn't locate my package or confirm that UPS ever picked it up, yet they stuck to this story the whole time. Never once did they say they would try to find your lost items. Lastly if they do lose your package they take 2-6 weeks to refund you the value of your items AND the shipping cost. Basically a ruse to frustrate customers from following up. Like a lot of places nowadays, this place is understaffed and overworked. I have a couple of examples to prove it. I purchased an HP laptop computer here in April 2009. It took 15 minutes to get checked out because the cashier had to get the manager over. While I was waiting at the the cashier's, the tech guy kept trying to hard sell me a service plan. I refused a few times until he got the point. Finally, the manager, a guy, walked over from the copy center to finalize my transaction. Without any apologies he finished the transaction. A second time I went in to purchase a measly $10 USB cord. I paid in cash. The cashier ran out of change with the drawer open, and couldn't give me change until the manager came over. She called the manager three times on the overcom, and 10 minutes later no one came. The cashier refused to let me pay with my ATM card. Three customers behind me left the line after waiting 3 to 5 minutes. The cashier, who was female, finally got the manager's attention when the manager happened to be working on something nearby. The manager, a woman, said she didn't hear the calls, and she went and got some change. I understand the economy is bad, and the store is big, and workers overworked and underpaid. But I have come here several times, and seldom am I even greeted or asked if I need help. It is the same in Santa Clara, too. My suggestion is that if you need something here, research it on your own or ask someone you know, because the customer service here is lacking, whether you're buying a big ticket item or not. read more
