I've used this company several times and always pleased with the service... today it was a scam pop=up calling itself 'Windows Defender' and threatening to ban me from Facebook and telling me not to do anything, to call them.... a pretty obvious scam but I couldn't get out of it myself, so, as a prior client, I called and Brian helped me out over the phone in a moment... I've walked in with a frozen up laptop, gone and done my errands for a couple of hours, and come back in to pick it up on my way home for a very reasonable fee... and I know I've used them before, but it was a few years back and memory fails, except to remember that they took care of it. I walked in with my old android recently knowing cell service is not necessarily their gig but being new to town and having a great experience with them in repairing my laptop, I thought I'd start with them as my phone just "froze" and I couldn't even access my home screen or any apps. I panicked as had an appt w/GPS programmed to get there but was completely incapacitated. I handed my phone to John who managed to navigate a deeper level of settings to find an app that had "commandeered" my home screen, disabling any other functionality. He then convinced me I (desperately) need a new phone & helped me search online for Samsung Galaxy via Xfinity's website (my carrier). Respec Tech Inc makes me happy! They treat the customer right. I have brought my laptop in a number of times for various issues and they always troubleshoot with gusto. They seem to relish a tech challenge and enjoy outdoing one another in the best course of techie action. It's obvious they love what they do and they are not out to rip the customer off. Several years ago, my computer was having problems. I took it to them as in those days the company had high ratings. I returned home and when I went to my file folder of naked persons. There was no advance warning or speaking of their actions when I retreived the machine from them. So someone stole my private file. I am appalled at their behavior. Actually, ZERO stars. I wouldn't let these guys change a light bulb after my recent experience. Took my old laptop in as it had quit working. Got charged $235 for a new hard drive installed, which did not fix the problem. Wound up returning it twice, they had it for a month and couldn't figure out the problem. Turns out, if they had bothered to actually open the thing, the fan was jammed up with dust. It might well have survived if they had actually looked at it. NEVER again. read more

I had to update business computers in a mobile office trailer. I made arrangements to be there at the close of business. RespecTech was AWESOME in their level of support. Not only did they make the space in the parking lot for me, they ran a Cat 6 cable to my modem, provided power and gave me a keyboard when one of mine died. I've been dealing with the folks here at RespectTech for quite some time now. Been in once for just about any thing these folks can handle. And because of that I feel I can honestly tell you that in the county of Mendocino you won't another fairer honest place. The people here haven't EVER not helped me. And in a way that you'd want to be helped considering you're ever in a position to need your computer fixed. Prices are right on par with any other place selling computer parts with a great staff and friendly atmosphere. I took my daughters laptop into see if it could be repaired as she had dropped it and it separated when opening it. It was annoying. They said it would cost $290 in parts and more @ $99.00 per hour. The laptop is only a bit over a year old (799.00 new) but as with tech it seemed senseless to spend the $ as she intellectually disabled & on a tight budget. I figured it was functional shed use it until it dropped. No, actually she couldn't, as it was worse upon getting it back than it was when I took it in. It was completely separated!! Can't use it at all!! They had only excuses... we told you on the phone it was in bad condition la la la..... but they NEVER said it was worse!! I went into RespecTech hoping to make copies of our master wedding photos. It was a total of 3 disks and each had hundreds of photos. One of them had 800 photos. They told me it would be $20 and they would call me when done. They called me later that day and said the disks were extremely scratched. They said they would continue to try and call me when done. I checked in a week later and they said they had been letting it run all day, all night 24/7 it was averaging 1 photo an hr because the disk was pretty bad. They used third party programs and other tricks trying to transfer the photos. They called me a week later (a total of 2 weeks from drop off) and said they were able to download most of the photos but some were not able to be copied and it was no extra charge. I couldn't believe these guys tried for 2 weeks and still only charged $20. I left them a tip. These guys are Amazing!! read more

First experience was okay. Second one, not good. I live in Ukiah and I took my Mac in bc the microphone during Zoom meetings was not working. The mic worked using Facetime, so I was at a loss. (Tried all the self tests with Zoom and the mic did not work.) I took it in on Mon and paid the $99 diagnostic fee. By Wed I told them I needed my computer back by Fri bc I was going to be gone the following week. I had to call Fri and was told the mic had to be replaced and that it did not work with Zoom or Facetime. When I picked it up, I was told if I bring it back to replace the mic, I would have to pay another $99 diagnostic fee. This is ridiculous. They already did the diagnostics. In addition, when I brought it home, I tried Facetime and the mic worked. They would charge me 2 diagnostics and the first one was wrong. I won't be back. read more

I took my old laptop to have some work done it.they treated me like I was a old returning customer.not only did they fix my laptop but the wok was done in a timely manor, & the shock came when I was presented with the bill.....$39.00 for all the work. I don't know much about Windows 10 or PC machines, but it is really nice to be able to phone Respectech and have a tech walk through my questions over the phone. Even the most simple of questions are answered with ease and with knowledge, and they don't try to immediately get you to bring your machine in. It is 100% appreciated that these knowledgeable tech guys are willing to give instructions over the phone. Super helpful! read more

I initially liked these people very much, but when it comes time to be billed, they are extremely expensive. I really needed them to go out to a business location when I first contacted them. They said no problem, but charged me at the repair rate of $125/hr for driving to my location and back. I have never heard of that. I just received a year old bill that I have never seen before. I don't even know what is for and they charged me almost as much in late fees as the original bill. Amazing...why couldn't they have contacted me earlier? Did the really send me a bill? I don't know, but I am going to pay it and truly, pray that another computer place opens up who have a better billing department. read more

One of Ukiah's hidden (in plain sight) gems right on East Perkins. I know they have computer repair services, but have only used them for their internet cafe. Sit down, have a cup of coffee and for a few bucks I can safely surf the net on one of the desktop computers they have for rent. Yes, I could go to Starbucks and get "free" internet, but after having been hacked and the only place I can think of where I did put myself at risk that day was surfing via Starbuck's free internet, I will not be using them again.. Our office has been using Respectech for our computer needs for 9 years. They are absolutely, always responsive to our needs in times of "urgency". We especially appreciate this because our business is so dependent on our computers that when something goes wrong with any of them we need them back up and running as soon as humanly possible. So, I don't like to leave negative reviews, but Respectech needs a customer service overhaul and pronto. My first visit I took in two videos to be dubbed to DVD. The woman was very nice and helpful. I was told it'd be about a week, they'd call, I pick up. The service is done on a donation basis now. So a week later, I hadn't received a phone call. I waited 2 more days and when I called I was told they had been done "for a couple days." Ok? Why wasn't I called? But that's ok, I'm a pretty understanding person, miscommunication happens. I pick up my tapes, DVD copies, and left my donation. Not too bad, would've warranted a 4 star review. My second visit was HORRIBLE. The woman was once again very helpful. The story is much the same as the first... but then gets ugly. After 2 weeks of no contact after dropping off my tape, I give them a call. I am informed by Bodon that he is having issues with my VHS, stating his monitor could be the issue, asking how old the tape was, where it had been stored, etc. He informed me that he would continue working with it and that he'd call me once the new monitor was in to try again. Ok, great. I waited about 2 or 3 weeks - knowing a new monitor may take a few days to get there - with no return call. So, here I am, calling again. I was informed that Bodon had been on vacation and would be returning in a few days. Again, why wasn't I notified? Just a heads up, that's all I'm asking. Mind you, these are 24 - 21 year old home videos on this tape, very precious memories. I wait another week or 2, bet you can't guess what happens next? That's right, I'm on the phone... again. This time I'm told the video is still not dubbing, but they want to keep trying, but if I was tired of "waiting around" (yeah, after 6 weeks I'm tired of waiting!) I could pick it up, but they're confident. So, 2 weeks later (yesterday) rolls around and I decide, forget it, I'm done, I'm picking it up. I go in, I'm told "oh we're finalizing it, if you can wait 15 minutes we will have it ready!" I was so excited, my patience (that I typically lack) had paid off! I'll go grab my lunch and pick it up on my way back to work! NOT! Guess what it didn't work. Oh well. I grab my tape and leave. Today I give my tape to my dad to see if he could get it copied (I don't easily accept defeat). Well... he came back with some very DEVASTATING news. 30 minutes of my home videos had been erased, damaged, or recorded over. I was heartbroken, this is my mothers Christmas present... or was. I call AGAIN! to tell them what had happened and was insulted by Bodon. He repeatedly kept saying that my tape was "severely damaged" and that he told me the tape was jamming his machines. Wrong. You never told me that, Bodon. You told me it was a monitor/dubbing issue. Had I known this tape was jamming machines, I would have picked it up immediately lest inflicting any damage to my tape. This specific 30 minutes contained footage of my deceased family members and now they're lost. Oh, by the way, my father was able to copy this tape with no issue. I don't know what happened here, but I am disgusted. I received no form of apology, whatsoever. It's rude. I understand accidents can happen, but honesty and an apology could have avoided all of this. I will never take my business to Respectech EVER again, and you can bet your bottom dollar that I will pass this along to ALL of my family and friends. I can see there are a lot of mixed reviews going on here. My personal experience was that the Staff I worked with was very knowledgable, honest and hard working for a super reasonable rate. My motherboard died, which is a hard thing to hear, and then I had to copy Mac data to a PC. All went smooth. I am happy and grateful for the support! read more

My Macbook Pro took an unwanted bath, resulting in a ruined battery. I bought the replacement battery online and tried to replace it myself but was daunted by the glue sticking the darn thing in place. Ditto review above.. didn't even do a good job. Put me off for a week and a half, didn't finish the job. Didn't blow the cabinet that was full of dust .. asked them to check everything. I left with a job that I had to do. Told me my fan was probably bad, but hadn't bothered to blow out the dust. WTF? Losers with excuses. Will never use them again. Lame lame lame. The Coffee part is gone and is now just junkie inside. Unorganized group of people. I'm lucky I even got my computer back in one piece. Deserve less than one star.
