However two weeks ago this place was just so convenient to my errands that I dropped off a FedEx with prepaid label, all ready to go, I sensed that she recognized this as another opportunity lost, she wasn't going to make any money on me today. So rather than treat me nice so I might come back and spend money, she did what all bad business owners do, she let on that she was annoyed. No bother, it takes more than that to piss me off. I even asked her why she was selling ( big sign in window ) she said she could't get "good help" My parting thought, not vocalized, was that she must be a terror to work for. Well today I went back with another prepaid FedEx, just to wind her up a bit. This one needed tape to affix the prepaid label. In broken english she told to buy a roll of tape or basically get lost. I asked if that meant she was unable to use the tape gun sitting a few feet from my box and she said "yes" . So sad, she will soon be included in long list of failed small businesses, "woe is me, bad economy, can't find help", all the while CLUELESS to how to really serve your clientele. This week when I showed up, they had me dump all the brass into a container and they weighed it and told me it was only 459 lbs, and the price was now only $1.69lb. I questioned their scale an mentioned I had much more they told me call their purchasing agent for a better price. I called and had to leave a message, same as last year, no call back this time, same as last time. So 1/14/25 I called Heavy Metal Recycling, Louie took my call Very professionally he questioned my load and said Brass shells were paying $1.80-$1.90 a pound and he would have to see it. Yesterday I showed up with 1013lbs (per my scale) of brass. Louie had a man set up a large box and weighed the empty box in front of me, next had me dump the brass into the box as they inspected some of it. They put it back on the scale and said 1014lbs and said he would go $1.85lb, I was super happy, all three men I spoke to were very kind and pleasant, the yard was very clean and I'm looking forward to my next trip there. Small list, Heavy Metal Recycling it closer to me than my other yard, they pay better, (I went home and called my old yard for some quotes), and they were not offended when asked to see the scale. But best of all they will sell also, my old yard in Worcester will not sell.
