I went to the South San Francisco store today to drop off an amazon return and purchase a few items. When I arrived, the line was 7-8 customer's deep which, isn't too bad if there was an employee servicing customer's at the drop off counter. There was a young man (employee) who was doing something at the register/computer at the far end of the drop-off counter. I asked why there was no service at the counter and his replied saying that someone would be there to assist us shortly. I thought to myself, you are an employee are you not? Why can't you assist us? Finally after an additional five minutes, a associate who was a cashier walked over that served us. Once he arrived, thinks went fairly quickly but what bothered me was the response and lack of response from what I understand was the new assistant manager. I feel it is unacceptable when a manager from the store stares at a line of people and doesn't lift a finger to help. I don't know what he was doing, but aren't customers first? It makes me question Staple's manager training program as this is basic stuff. Nothing is more important than service the customers waiting on service first above other work - period! What broke the camels back was I was wandering the isles looking for product and must have passed this assistant manager serval times which he was stocking inventory and not once did he stop and ask how he could help me. There weren't may customers in the store at the time, so again, I don't understand the lack of customer service. You guys have enough market pressure weighing heavy on corporate, you don't need customers shopping elsewhere because customer's don't feel like they matter or appreciated. It like going through the motions doing their perspective jobs not realizing that customers are the reason they have a job. Without us, Staples will be closing yet another store. Customer service is the final firewall between customers continuing to stop at brick and motor stores and the internet. I personally support retail stores but this sadly seems like Staples sees the writing on the wall and has given up instead on doubling down on outstanding customer support to generate and retain customer business. Want to see what outstanding customer service looks like in retail? Go visit any ACE Hardware store. I don't want to see the South San Francisco store close and wish management, especially corporate would do a better job incentivizing good customer service and less on internal politics or whatever is sinking the ship. read more

I went to Staples today on Noor Ave. I had to walk the entire and could not find one single employee on the floor. I went to the printing area and asked for assistance. I wanted to purchase an iPhone 16 pro max protective cover. I went back to the aisle until someone showed up and told what I was looking for. The man just stared at all the displays clearly not knowing the merchandise. He finally found two options for me, but only pointed at them. I kept asking what he was pointing at. He never approached the display to show me my options or took off the hook to put in my hand. One was $10, the other was $50. I asked him what was the difference. He told me the more expensive cover was a price set by the corporate offices. I am the customer and I should be told this reason. I asked if he could look up the differences, but he did nothing. I walked away back to the printing area to ask for the manager. I showed my two options and we walked back to the section to see if I had any other option. He said no. I asked again to explain the prices difference and he did not know. I then said, sir you know I could be a hired shopper paid to check on the costumer service of your store (which I am not), but that got his attention quickly and the area for him to check at the end cap of that aisle. He then explained the differences, and I bought the more expensive protector at $50. I mentioned to the manager that this employee at the very least should be able to look up products to explain the different price points. It wasted so much of my time. Do not go here for your iPostal service. They unexpectedly changed their address and I received 2 emails with incomplete information: one saying the new address was "Suite B" the next email saying that my address was Suite B + a mailbox number. No one wants a work address that has a Suite and a Unit #... it's confusing. My mail has been missing for over a month during the worst time of the year for this to happen (tax season). This isn't on the staff in the store as it appears that they're understaffed and trying as hard as they can to stay afloat, but not doing great. Going to find another option. read more

I don't know why this store exists other than to sell overpriced frou-frou office supplies. I had some questions about identifying and ordering a part for a printer. No one was working at the tech desk in the morning. I went back in the evening, and was told to, "look it up on line," which I had already done extensively, hence my need to talk to someone. They refused to order anything for me, either. The staff member was dismissive and refused to assist me in any way. So I made an educated guess at what part I needed, and ordered it directly from the manufacturer, although Staples appears to sell it on line (at a 33% markup.) Horrible customer service. Manager and staff are incredibly unhelpful. I attempted to make a return for a purchase through Doordash and they would not provide me with any assistance. I needed to make an exchange and they were unable to fulfill my request even though I had proof of the purchase. I had to wait over 10 minutes for assistance because the manager was to busy (she yelled across the store she was too busy) and the cashier wanted to help other customers. They insisted I make the return through Doordash even though I was presently at the store with the items. Came here for the TSA pre-check thing. We were kinda hesitant for picking this place because of the previous reviews but it was the earliest available appointment... but.....I think the person in the bad reviews wasn't there or no longer works there? Yay, lol. We got lucky and got a really nice lady. Susie is the one that helped us. The process was quick and easy. You just check in, verify your info on the screen, do some fingerprint stuff, take a picture, then pay. Tip: The TSA "office" is towards the back left where the restroom and office chairs are. Horrible store management! Came here to get an office chair mat for my home office. While there, I started looking at office chairs, casually demoing the floor models. As I go to sit in a pretty nice gaming chair they had advertised up in the front during a contest they were having, the chair completely broke in half as a leans back in it cutting up my hand and hitting the back of my head against the wall. I then asked for the manager who was very short with my fiancée who asked for some type of case number for the incident. The following day I called their corporate HR department to find out he filed no claim with corporate about the incident. He must likely had no intention of contacting me but shortly after calling corporate he did contact me, under advisement from HR no doubt. I spent $80 here and they didn't even offer me a discount or an apology. The manager Jose Velez was rude and unconcerned. I will never shop here again. read more

A young lady named Rochelle helped me complete the Pre-Check process including a new photo and she did a very professional job. I was pleasantly surprised with the excellent service as this store has been criticized by other reviewers. I also picked up some office supplies while I was there and the cashier, Philip, was most helpful. Truly a 5-star experience for a local store that has to compete with Amazon. read more

I went there for the Tech Center. I had an issue with my laptop that i needed diagnosed. I show up at 1:30pm on a Monday. No one there. After 10minutes of looking for someone I can talk to to ask whats going on with the Tech Center, the person tells me I have to get in line (cashier line) to ask the question. I get in line and after a 10minute line (there was only 1 cashier working), the first person comes up and opens up another check out line. So, now, I'm standing in front of him again asking the same question. He checks the schedule and now tells me Tech Center is not open until 4pm. 1) How can the Tech Center not open until 4pm???? 2) Why couldn't he tell me that when I first approached him???? He made me get in line and waste another 10min. 3) The customer service in that store is horrendous. No one there looks like they like working there. They all look like walking zombies. I had to do last minute shopping on the day after Christmas, owing to the work schedules of my friends and family. I purchased a high value item for a dear friend and the sales associates (Jona in particular) assisted me with setting up my app to look for discounts. Even though I successfully reset my password on the downloaded app, I could not fully complete the process owing to a server error. That's the main reason why I didn't give five stars. Came in on 3/6 at 11am to make some copies. I'm given a card with directions on emailing my file but first I wanted to edit something. They charge .30cents per minute, that's fine it'll take me like 2-3 min. Long story short it took 10+minutes because of how slow the internet was. If I would've know this I would've made sure it was all done before going in. Next I choose to print on card stock as I am making invitations, and you get two options, come back in an hour and pay $60+ or come back with no rush and pay $40. I am making 60 sheets so I'm being cheap and choose to just come back later. The guy says he will call once it's done. LIES! I call at 5pm and I'm told it's done and been done. The online item was exactly the same as the store items except for the model number and a $5 difference in price. The person at the checkout listen to me. Looked at the comparison between the items Then went ahead and adjusted the price to equal the online price. Just another reason why I shop Staples instead of Office Depot. Unlike every other photocopy center, Staples is the only one I've ever found that fails to give credit for mistakes. Each center's machines are different and it's easy to push the wrong button or misunderstand instructions. It doesn't add up to much but is a good indication of how Staples treats their customers & I believe indicates a lack of respect. I was trying to return a package back to Amazon. I asked them kindly if they could please print my label since I had trouble doing from home I even offered to pay. They send me to an actual ups store. I had never had an issue with this place until today. It seems they didn't wanted to work. They need to practice more on their customer service. Went in there the other day. Bought some sharpies for my work. Bought a small bag of Cheezits with my own money. It was $2.52. Gave the girl a five dollar bill. Change was 2.48. I found two Pennies in my pocket and presented them to her. "I'm sorry, I already put it in", she said. I replied "Okay here's two cents. The total was $2.52. The change is $2.48. 48+2 equals 50, so my change should be 2.50. Young lady still couldn't figure it out. Whatever. I got my exact change of $2.48. Didn't want to pursue it any further, even though now I wish I had. Has she ever taken math in elementary school? I wonder. I hope it's a corporate thing where what goes down on the register absolutely has to equal the amount received. It was two cents. I really hope it was some corporate policy, and not her stupidity. The register might have been two cents over.... Either way, it was very dumb. I still like the place though. Lots of good stuff to be bought, and at least good customer service. The young Caucasian lady who has short black straight hair with glasses tells me their system is down and can't pull up my job. I'll have to give her the benefit of doubt but funny thing is there was another gal that was at the same computer helping someone else. Was the system really down it was it just to brush me off? They need to get trained better and call customers if their job is not going to get done. I've dealt w other staple stores and I've gotten calls before. My last few visits here were to do Amazon returns which was great due to how close it was to my house. I've never before had an issue, so today was a first; I've never before felt compelled to leave a negative review on yelp until today(11:30ish). I came in to return one item and was 1st in line behind a woman who was already being helped... another lady came over and stood off to the side rather than behind me. Soon after two men came and stood behind me in line. When the next person was called they allowed this lady standing aside to cut me. She apparently had been detoured to checkout previously and had to come back to returns/shipping desk after. When they called next in line I believed it to be my turn, since I was there first. But the employee disregarded me and they allowed the lady to cut me in line. It made me feel disrespected and stupid for having defended myself. I likely wont be coming here again. read more

I only frequent this place for notebooks, ink, and paper. My experience here has always been fine. The ink prices are fair. In comparison to other places like Office Depot you are almost paying the same amount. The paper is what it is. Depending on the quality of paper you are looking for you are either going to pay a little bit more or less. The selection of spiral notebooks is good. I usually like the notebooks that give me the most pages for the best price or the bundle notebook packages. If you can get the bundle you actually save a bit more but the pages are about 180 per notebook. I do like the rewards program that they have here as well. I think you can recycle your old ink cartridges here as well. Just an overall quality office supply store and you can't beat THAT! read more

Second was cancelled and no reason given. Wasn't going to waste time making a third appointment. They don' t seem to be able to manage it well at this location or don't have the staff perhaps.
