Absolute clown show of a store. I walked in to make a simple Amazon return with my trained service animal, and the guy at the counter looked like customer service had personally wronged him. Miserable doesn't even begin to cover his attitude. I approach, and he barks (pun intended) that they "don't allow dogs." I explain--calmly--that he's my service animal. His genius response? "Even service animals pee in the store." Excuse me? I remind him again that it's my service animal, and he doubles down with, "Well we don't allow dogs so IDK." The ignorance is staggering. The incompetence? Impressive, honestly--it must take real commitment to be this bad at your job. This wasn't just rude, it was an ADA violation in real time. Had to do a UPS drop off and Amazon return here. Haven't been in in ages but was pleasantly surprised. It was fast and efficient for both. I didn't get the name of the employee that helped me out but they were amazing with customer service and even with having to do both returns and sales they had two lines moving simultaneously. My husband went there to print out important papers from the lawyer. When he requested help from the girl behind the counter she proceded to sigh, get irritated and tell him he can do this himself. And she charged him anyway. I would not recommend going there for help from them. read more

I fax paperwork periodically for my job. Usually I go to OfficeMax because the price is better, but I was in the shopping center and thought I would get it done while I was there. Ugh! There were only 2 fax/copy machines; one was out of service and the other was occupied for quite a while. When I inquired about it, the young female employee didn't seem to care. I had hoped that she would offer to use the fax machine that is likely operable behind the counter for me when she was not busy, but my hopes were crushed! Cons: The prices aren't great (OfficeMax is better). Customer service is subpar. Only one fax/copy machine was available. The floors and work area was dirty and gross. Pros: I have none. Sadly, this will NOT be my go to for work faxes. My mistake for trying it. read more

I can see why this store had an average of 2/5 stars. I just got back from a wasted trip (time spent when I am prepping for a cross-country flight on business). Their website said that they close a 9 pm, and the page was updated a week ago. I get there, and the sign says they closed at 7 pm. As I was walking back, two other people were walking up as well. GREAT job of wasting your customers' time there Staples. Perhaps you need some new management or someone who knows how to keep hours in charge? Came in to get ink for my Printer was having trouble finding the one for my exact printer asked for help was told told the location of the ink ( I already was over there I knew where the ink was I could find the certain one) and told her I needed help finding it she told Me I could Find it and help myself. I found out this was the manager of this location. Very rude and unhelpful. I did find it on my own, but that is beside the point when I went, walked up and asked very nicely for Help and for her to say that to me is completely uncalled for and you're a manager. unfortunately it's the only Location in my town for this kinda product so I was obligated to spend my money in this location. read more

WOMEN'S RESTROOM Customer service for 3 returns was awesome, but then I used the women's bathroom. Omg disgusting! The dirt and mold around the edges of where the floor meets the wall, no TP or seat covers in main stall and maybe 10 squares of TP and a few seat covers in the handicapped stall. Toilets are stained yellowish brown. Only one bottle of hand soap while paper towel roll was sitting on top of towel dispenser so everyone is touching that roll to tear towels off. I really don't understand Staples. They seem to say "This is what we have and you will like the price." except that their selection isn't great and their prices, even their clearance prices, are high. I wanted to see their printers and all-in-ones for a replacement for my aging models and they didn't have much. The one I'd seen at half price at multiple stores was $30 more expensive now. I looked at the clearance section and the prices were still higher than I could get elsewhere at regular prices. With the merger between Officemax and Office Depot, I wonder if Staples will be able to continue their methods or go the way of Circuit City. read more

My husband and I went to Staples to pick up a few small odds and ends for our home office and to pick up some crayons for the children at the Modesto Gospel Mission. I was happy to find that Staple's prices matched Walmart's sale prices on school items, so I also picked up notebooks, file folders and stick-on labels. As I walked the aisles looking for more bargains, my husband sat in one of their office chairs. I ended up needing help to find the last item on my list and was approached by a nice man with a very easygoing manner. He led me right to the item I was looking for. As we pushed our cart passed the chair my husband had been sitting in, my husband said it was the most comfortable office chair he had ever sat in. Turned out that the chair was also on sale. We were having a little difficulty getting the tag for the chair out of the plastic pocket, and the same young man walked by telling us we didn't need the ticket- that he'd take care of it. And he did! He called on another employee to get the chair; we got everything at the sale prices; helped me to download the Staple's app for even more savings (I'm in my 70s and not computer savvy); and was patient and helpful in every aspect of our purchase. Very unhappy with this location. Hours listed on Google AND their own store finder website show they are open until 9 pm on Saturday, but they actually close at 7 pm. When I told the clerk when I finally found them open, she just stared and me with a blank stare, like 'when are you going to shut up'. Nothing about passing it up the chain, absolutely no helpful response. I was given a register coupon at checkout and asked if it could be used that day. Was told yes. Then I read it and saw it started the next day. Nothing but frustrations. read more

The absolute worst Staples I have ever been to for printing services. My husband who is the nicest person ever requested to have several bound binders created around 5:00 p.m. Thursday (11/12) and was informed they would be done by next day and that he would receive a call when the order was ready. Friday afternoon there was no call or update so he decided to swing by for the order status since we live so close. He headed in and was told end of day it would all be ready. Cool, so I headed with him in the late evening to pick up orders( no call again) and was huffed at by a young lady named Jenna(not sure if it's her real name). She said only half the order was done, we said no problem we can come back in the morning. Saturday morning comes and we notice that everything is printed out of order and the index is missing which is all in order on the thumb drive we provided. A simple error, right? so we came to inform her in the morning. She was so RUDE, and blamed us saying that it was like that on the thumb drive. No lack of sympathy for the error or customer service at all. I was taken back and fed up. She argued and snapped her fingers for about 2 minutes until I requested her manager, a young and pleasant girl came out named Diana and she mentioned that the order would likely be done by tommorw evening, due to a power outage the night before. Don't get me wrong we understand circumstances and how it can get busy but how does a simple print job turn into four days to process? I called corporate, because I was just frustrated with the level of incompetence that young woman had(Jenna) and how blatantly rude she was when we came in to point out an error and request a prompt resolution. I have never experienced the amount of rudeness, insatiable customer service in my life. We will not be returning to this store and will make sure to warn others to just go somewhere else. P.S. We are with a large group that needs several print services done throughout the year, we know now, never go to Staples in Riverbank and especially never work with Jenna. 01/05/2023 - I came into Staples Riverbank to print out a measley 6 or 7 photos... was met at the back counter by "Mario". I explained what it was I needed and was more than willing to use the self service copiers and do it myself, but simply asked if I could have the few pages of photo paper I needed loaded into the copier tray I would be using. Mario replied "No, can't do that right now... but we can do the copies back here (referring to the behind the printing counter)... however, we wouldn't be able to do that either, for at least a day or two because we're so slammed...". I replied, "so then I guess you're telling me I should go to Office Max then?" Mario and his coworker laughed and said "well no, I'm NOT saying that...". I replied "Yes, you actually are". Mario: "Well only if you need them (my 6 or 7 photo copies) now", and then continued to laugh like it was the funniest thing. What I needed was literally about a 5 minute job. There were at least 5 employees back behind the counter and in the immediate area, yet no one could assist me with a low level, piddly 5 minute job. Guess that's what they found so funny. Not impressed. Won't be back - ever. Should have gone to Office Max first and spared myself the waste of time and dismissive attitude shown by the bare-minimum achieving Staples Riverbank staff. read more

I needed some pictures enlarged for a Memorial Service so I went to Staples in Riverbank. When I picked the order up it had some issues with the photo and it was bubbling up. When I called to complain, I was told to bring the pictures back and they would fix it. I met with Emma in the printing section and she knew exactly how to fix the problem. She had them redone at no cost to me, the new ones came out 10 times better than the first ones. I was extremely happy with the results. Emma is great!! She knows what customer service is about. She was helpful, nice and got things done the right way. I would recommend anyone looking for help in the printing department ask for Emma. read more

Heather...didn't see a DM link so here are the details: The purpose of my visit to your store was to shred mail which I do twice a year. I walked in with a box full of mail and waited at the counter. And waited... and waited... only to be told they couldn't shred it because the previous mail hadn't been picked up for shredding. They were apparently over a week late. Then when I tried to limp my way out of your store with my box in hand trying to get out of the nearest exit and go directly to my car with which was parked in the handicapped out front, your employee insisted I walk around damn near what looked like an obstacle course, to get out of the store through the exit at the cash registers. I went to your store three times over the past year to buy a laptop, and most of your displays we're gone. I walk in circles in your store and find it difficult to get help. I went to this Staples location to get some memorial cards printed for my grandpa's passing. The staff was super helpful and very quick at getting them printed. They were so awesome that they even called me to suggest a different paper since the original paper I chose didn't turn out well. I really appreciate their care and service for such an significant moment in my family's life. You guys went above and beyond, and we will be forever thankful. read more

I'm only rating this place for my experience with their public computers. I went in to print out some documents through my email. As you may know they charge a prepaid amount of $10 to use their equipment. Slid my card in, got charged, then it took forever for explorer to open my email. After what seemed like 5 minutes just for loading the screen, I finally opened up the documents I needed to print. As I selected their printer I attempted to print twice but both times it didn't print (and this isn't my first time using their equipment so I knew what I was doing). Then suddenly their computer shut off and rebooted itself for no reason at all. I spent another 10 minutes waiting for it to reboot and asked the girl behing the counter if I was being charged for this time. She didn't know anything so I asked her for a refund at which point they refunded the $10 but still it was a complete waste of time. As an office retail store selling office supplies you would think their public office equipment, which they charge you to use, would be bug free and have a fast internet connection. Do not go to this store. TERRIBLE in every possible way. No one cares. Ordered 3 items for same day printing. At pickup wife was informed 1. There was no such order; 2. Once found order said it was ordered after 3:00 so no guaranty would be done in 4 hours since was placed after 2:00; 3. After showing order was placed before 1:00 said would start our order now and then said one of items couldn't do bc didn't have the right material in stock (even though accepted order and says would be done). Asked to at least print a paper version as out of options at that point. Came back and they said their printer RAN OUT OF INK!! Thats right, Staples couldn't find order, misstated time ordered and then once found the order was out of the vinyl and then ran out of ink. This place is a joke and has zero inventory control, (I don't like to call people incompetent but there isn't a description that captures their lack of knowledge re their job better) and they acted like they could care less. read more

The 2 stars are for the gentleman that helped us in the back of store! Thank heavens for him or it would've been a complete wash! As we checked out we noticed that a price was mismarked. We went back to find the price, no offer from the girl running the front cash register. Then we returned unsuccessful, again no help, not even an offer! She was not interested in helping, being friendly, or in the least bit concerned. I was with my 83 year old mother in law and it was her item. Even basic respect for elders would've taught her to offer a hand. Nope! Not her. She was absolutely secure in her job standing at the cash register, with NO other customers staring at the wall... I'll make the trip to Modesto thank you! They may think that because they are the biggest supplier around, wrong!!! People will go elsewhere when customer service is lackluster at best! read more

I walked into Stsples at 7:15 PM with a very small printing job. A woman was sitting there (she may have been reading) and asked what I needed. After telling her, she asked when I needed it. I said, well, it would only take about 15 minutes. She said they didn't take any printing jobs an hour before closing, and I would have to come back to pick it up tomorrow. I said I lived out of town, so that wouldn't really work. She wouldn't bend. I could see if I had a large, complicated job, or if they were swamped, but there was literally no one around. SOOO...I headed over to Office Depot/Max in Modesto, where the service tech took the job with a smile and finished in 10 minutes! I won't waste my time at Staples next time. read more

I came to staples for a ream of paper and was thrilled to see they were having an awesome clearance. 2$ for one ream , 7$ for a 5 pack, and 12$ for a case of 20! So I haul the 20 pack to the front, grabbed the coupon by the front door, and plopped it on the cash register counter. Then the cashier tells me the "computer isn't bringing it up." I present her the coupon and remind her of the huge three foot by five foot sign over the stack of cases of paper. Still wouldn't give me the deal. I asked for a manager, and she said "the manager won't do it either." Needless to say I will giving my business to office max from now on. read more

I never thought I would write a review for an OFFICE STORE, but my service today was totally horrible. The employees acted as if they didn't want to be at work. I wanted to buy an Apple TV that was on ad. I walked into the store, found the item I wanted to purchase without any help, and went to the register to pay. Should be pretty simple, right? Wrong. It was an item that was an empty box (there were multiple on the shelves) and they went to the back to get the item. No big deal. It took TWENTY minutes for me waiting by the register to get my item from the back. Come to find out, nobody even was looking for it. Okaaaay... Someone finally goes to get it. Out of stock and haven't had any in months. Why have the empty boxes ready to be purchased and brought to the register? Waste of a morning. Go elsewhere if possible, especially since everywhere price matches. read more

Horrible! They told me over the phone that they could print my daughter's birthday invitations in 1 hour, and it was literally because of that quick turnaround time that I decided to drive from Modesto to Riverbank to print at Staples. Once I was there, they told me that I must have heard incorrectly, because it was just guaranteed by end of business day, not within 1 hour. I went ahead with the order anyway since I was already there & it was a good price. They called toward the end of business & said their machine was not working, and my invitations would not be done by end of business after all, "but hopefully the repairman will fix it in the morning". I called 1st thing the next day and asked for an update, and the guy literally said, "It's not fixed yet, I don't know what to tell you. I'm about to quit right now, because this happens ALL THE TIME, and it's really frustrating." Um, AWKWARD! I do feel kind of bad for the guy, but I'm the customer, not your therapist. He called back shortly after hanging up & said the repairman was on his way, that it was just a network error & would be an easy fix. His voicemail assured me that my invitations would be ready "very soon". So, I headed that way & took my time shopping at Target for a couple hours. At this point, it had been about 3-4 hours since his voicemail. Never got a phone call, so I decided to pop in & see if they were ready. Maybe the guy did quit, because he wasn't there. The employee I talked to said that they were getting a NEW machine, and did not have a new ETA for me. She went on to say that "the people installing it aren't the brightest crayons in the box." Again, awkward! How unprofessional. I finally asked for my refund. Drove to FedEx Printing in Modesto, and they printed my invitations in under 10 minutes. (About $10 more expensive, but worth every freaking penny after the headache with Staples!!!) So much of my time was wasted because of this. read more

Horrible customer service!! I wish I could give 0 stars, My wife ordered invitations and called to see if we could email them the invitation so we didnt have to go in store prior to pick up. Associate said to use their online app to submit invitations. It is advertised on radio that they do 1hour prints (lie). She got called the next day saying that order is ready. When she arrives a few hours later, manager says that its not ready. My wife tells her that she was told that the order was ready. The manager rudely tells another associate that had called my wife to take care of it because its "not her problem". The associate then tells my wife that she could have emailed them the invitations as it would have been easier than using the online print center. Wtf thats what we wanted to do in the first place. Not only was the manager rude but very unprofessional and obviously doesn't care about customers. There is a lack out competency at this store. This is the 3rd occasion that they have messed up our print order. No accountability! Needless to say I will be taking my business to modesto office max from now on. read more

Tried to get a poster printed here. First try was a disaster. I was told that "it just turns out like that sometimes." After asking if they were sure they had all the inks in the printer, they changed them. The second try was better but nowhere near what I needed... the colors were still way off. They tried, and they ended up not charging me but quality not up to par. With explanations such as "it just happens," I'm not sure what to suggest other than only go here for black and white printing. I ended up taking my file somewhere else and they were able to get it printed properly. read more
