I came here yesterday to print a very important document from my doctors. The printer in my office was broken. I was under alot of stress to print this paper out and get it submitted by 4pm. ( My job was depending on me printing this paper) Anyhow , I was here around 2pm at the printing center. There were two female employees working behind the printing counter. Both were not friendly and in my opinion, terrible customer service. I had been there trying to print this paper for over an hour. Every time I asked the woman a question about the computer or the self print station , she just basically blew me off looking annoyed and seemed really unwilling to help like I was asking them a stupid question. She would barely explain the self service print station and kept directing me to go to the machine to figure it out myself. (the Asian woman, not the caucasian women with the headband on) And not to bring up a persons ethnicity but I dont know any of their names. The woman kept directing me to do everything on my own and would not even immerge from behind the counter to help me. It was so frustrating and the terrible customer service made the situation even worse . They both didn't seem willing to help, yet they could sit behind the counter talking about personal things that doesnt pertain to business!!! Anyhow after feeling totally frustrated finally the manager of the store and another male associate helped me. This is after over an hour of me being there trying to print one document. Being frustrated with the computer systems and printer systems. By this point I was pissed. The male associate went out of his way and took his time to help me try to print the document and he did have excellent customer service. He helped me figure out how to get it printed and I was able to make the stressful deadline for my job. My whole point of the review being Staples. You should not place a worker with an attitude problem and pure laziness in the printing department. That really ruined my experience there . Not everyone works with printing for a living so I do not appreciate that womans attitude like I was stupid or something trying to print a document. read more

Sometimes there is a need to print addresses on envelopes. Home printers don't do this very well. One would think that a national copy and printing center would have the capability to do this in house. We went to print about 100 and, though the copiers used in the establishment have the capability, the option is either turned off or the workers were unable or unwilling to help make it happen. On top of that we had to stand and wait and flag down an associate to try to help. Not a great customer service experience, but also unhappy with this company's capabilities. read more

I cannot stand when an employee does not want to do their job. We are in Staples in Pinole and the young woman at the counter was being super polite and helpful with her previous customer. Now that they have a new copy and fax process I asked could she assist us. She started telling me from the register what to do. She got an attitude since we physically needed her to come over to the copier and provide us with customer service, which is her job. I gotta say, Evan is THE man, man. Top notch customer service. I have 3 rewards coupons worth $5+ each, 2 of which I know are expired but asked if I could use them anyway. He said sure no problem. He scanned them and they didn't work so he suggested he could call his supervisor over to override it. Then his supervisor Spencer comes over. Top of the notch cool dude too. Although this is one of the newer store (their previous location was few storefront down and was bigger), it's more small. Personally I prefer the bigger store as this one feels bit cramped. Overall the store employees are very friendly and always helpful. Merchandise wise, their office supplies are reasonable and if you can live with the generic "Staples" brand, you'll save tons of money. Seriously does the "Post-It" brand really work better than the Staples brand? On this day, their shelves were a bit empty. Yesterday I went for a new office chair at the Pinole location. The one I chose, even though it is on sale until the end of the month, was out of stock. The cashier told me I could purchase the floor sample and after I checked it out, I decided to purchase it. After I was offered a warranty, the cashier then told me he had to charge me a fee for assembly, which I thought was weird. The chair was already assembled, a floor sample, and now you want to charge me because its already been assembled. I think not! I walked out. But, I'm not the type that gives up that easily, so as soon as I got home, I got the corporate address, emailed them and asked for this silly fee to be waived. Low and behold, I just got a voice mail, along with the manager's name, and they told me they put the chair aside for me and the fee would be waived. They even offered to ship it to me, but that wasn't possible. So, folks, don't just go home with your tail between your legs, reach out and ask. All they can say is no, so asking NEVER hurts. Most places will work with you, especially when you know you're right and the "policy" doesn't seem appropriate. Why two stars? The cashier was adamant that he HAD to charge me, it was the store's policy, blah, blah, blah. And, I hate it when cashiers act like they own the damn store. 5/21/20 I just got another call from the "office of the president" checking up to see if I had picked up the chair yet and to contact her with any issues. This Staples is pretty good in that they have a nice sized copy area. I've had to do church bulletins, wedding invites, etc in their copy area and it's always appreciated. As for the rest of the store, it's a typical Staples. They have pretty much everything you need and once in awhile, they have good specials in the bins. If I had to complain about anything, I'd have to complain about where they are located. They're on the far side of the parking lot. This might not seem like a big deal, but it feels like a real chore to get there. There have been times when I was at Target, wanted to go to Staples, but because of the distance from the exit, I just got an inferior item at Target. I can't thank Marie, the manager at the Fitzgerald Print & Copy center, enough for the patience and understanding she displayed towards me with getting my banner printed! I had run into an issue where the order was not displaying in their store list of orders. After calling Staples' main line for their Help Center, I found that my order was in printing limbo because there was something wrong with the conversion of my order's file into a .pdf (not an issue on my end). After I cancelled my on-line order, I called Marie and she said she could do it in store that day (it was originally to be done at 8:30pm that day). My banner stand was also a special size from Amazon, so she was able to do it to that size! Saved me so much trouble. Just make sure you have all your files ready, and size specifications, when you come in, and it will be smooth sailing. The worst copy center ever! Copy center employees are so unhelpful. You tell them what you want and they MAKE you do something else entirely by yourself. Worst store and customer service ever. I bought a laptop here for an urgent project that I've to work on. I even paid extra for service and asked them to load Microsoft Office for me. I was promised to have everything ready the next day. Nothing was ready and they even gave me a wrong laptop and insisted on that was the one I bought. Called them around 7:30 PM to get the email address to submit a document and was told they wouldn't accept documents electronically - I had to bring my document to the store. I teach a customized "Basic Hydraulics" class. I typically modify my handouts after the first day of class, sending them electronically to the nearest Staples around 11 pm or so for pick-up the next day after 4 PM. At 7:30 PM, I was still hours away from having my handouts modified. Having to physically take my document to the store cost me 20 minutes drive time each way, plus about 20 minutes in the store, and my class received an unmodified "stock" version of my handouts. While the employees I dealt with at the store (Bridgett and Alex) were absolutely wonderful, the hassle of having to take my documents to the store, plus the store manager's decision to stay in his office and count drawers instead of dealing with my complaint have me wondering why the heck I didn't call Kinkos or Office Depot instead of driving to this Staples. Normally I'm helped here for business needs . They are always busy in the copy center though and do not have strong customer service. Today Gabby or Gavy said they were too busy again to laminate 2 pages. She said they were only doing appointments an hour or more out. Not helpful for business purposes. Not sure if they understand to service business needs you should be customer service oriented and assist. They had over 5 employees there with some guy in a beige shirt greeting people & asking if all was ok. I'm sure his time could be spent working to help with operations? I visit this Staples about 5 times a year for various office supplies, etc. Yes they do stock a lot of stuff, I can only find the certain kind of pen I like at this store, but they don't stock everything. Just today I was trying to find a 2008 planner like the one I found there last year, and they did not have it. Also, they have lots of Avery labels and stuff, but again not everything and I've found myself having to go online to find anything I need that's not exactly a common item. One of the reason I'm only giving it 3 stars is because of the employees. I find them either suffocating and hovering or clueless and careless. Out on the sales floor there is about one employee for every 10 square feet, and then there are the "floaters" who roam about the store. The sole responsibility of these people, it seems, is to hover in your shadow waiting for the moment when you might possibly hesitate in your step and say "Oh! Do you need some help?!?" "Doing OK??" "Finding everything??" I want to scream "AAAGGG PLEASE let me just SHOP, is that OK with you???!!" Basically, if I need help I am perfectly capable of walking up to you and asking for it , so no need to hover on the fringes of my peripheral vision. The other extreme is the cashiers who couldn't be bothered with anything more than just taking your money. Once the money is gathered you are dismissed. Very poor service. I teach in school, and had a last minute copy job to do. I went in there and was told to insert the CC into the machine and start copying. Easy in and out. I inserted the cc to start the machine, the machine got freezed up. I was told it is due to weather. After waiting for 15 min, I asked the associate to help me out as I was running late, he said he will have to charge me for his time. I told him it is okay, he can charge me. Then I gave him my files, but he couldn't open files to print. It seems like he didn't had any experience with word doc. I patiently waited to get 30 sets of 8 page document. After give me a runaround back to machine with CC slot and back to associate, after 45 minutes, I got the order in my hand. I will never go back to this place. Their machines are slow, their computers are slow and so are the associates. Order like this only takes less than 10 minutes in and out. Please use another print shop.
