Typewriters. Yep, they still exist. And people still use them. Some anyway. One of those…read morepeople is in my family. And the typewriters get used a lot. Daily. Often for a few hours. I've been known to scour eBay looking for ribbons. And then one broke. The backup was immediately put in its place. And then that stopped working too. And then the search started for a repairman. The place one had been repaired in the past was long gone. So we called a bunch of places. No luck. We stopped by one. Didn't look open. And then we got a call. Someone used their caller id and saw we called. And called us back. And said they could take a look at the machine and let us know what they thought. So off to Myron street we went. A street off Kenmore. We dropped off the machines and a few days later got a call back. One was fixed and the other would take a little longer. Fine. We picked up the one. The other came a week or so later. The price was reasonable, at least for something that requires real specialized knowledge. These types of skills are disappearing with the actual typewriters. So if you ever need a typewriter repairman, I'd try here first. But call ahead, he's not open all the time, this isn't a store, it's a repair shop. So call ahead and find a time that works for you both.

For a moment, I thought this could be the new XS Cargo--a Canadian discount chain that closed down several years ago and I have longed for the return of. I was aware that many Amazon products that are returned get sold to liquidators, so I entered the store with expectations of pretty competitive pricing. What I found was a pretty broad collection of cheaper-quality products at, what seemed like retail or near-retail prices. In spite of signage assuring me otherwise, the discounts that I saw just quite didn't rationalize the purchase price for me. After all, some of these products may even be defective Amazon returns and the savings just weren't substantial enough to take that risk. While the products may indeed be acquired through a liquidation sale, or Amazon palette auction model, the price that consumers like me see doesn't quite reflect that. It feels like someone's making a handsome markup here.

At $5 each you can get some cool, retro looking T's for a great price. The display makes it easy to see all the choices. They have a good selection without being overwhelming of many things like books, toys, clothing.....even snack foods. Some things are even under $5. I think the price is perfect for the things they sell. The employees are helpful and the self checkout is a great idea....it gives the employees more time to straighten the T-shirts instead of standing at registers. I like that they offer hand sanitizer on your way in or out and while I was there I saw employees wiping down surfaces being diligent on COVID-19 safety practices. 5 Below is a fun store to browse and I bet you find something you just have to have....for $5 or less....it's a deal!

Hi I just wanted to…read moresay a couple of things. As a regular customer of the library on Victoria Avenue. I was there today March 24 at 11:15am your 2 millenial females with dark hair glasses and ponytails were sitting at the desk by the computers. They were gossiping about customers. Saying how they don't know the person but they feel like they are.... I went up to your dark hair guy at the desk by the front. He had glasses and a red sweatshirt. He refuses to do anything about it. He says I stand behind my coworkers. All I asked was for the behaviour to be more professional. Another blonde lady with glasses ( she was about my age. I'm 49) she hears the conversation and goes over to the desk and tells the millenial lady working about my complaint. I then hear the millenial lady say well you know she's a....the lady stops her and says, we should avoid saying anything else cause she might come over and yell at us.
