This store is a trip. It reminds me of the junk shops you find in beach towns, like Myrtle Beach. Bric-a-brac extraordinaire. A kid's dream! Everything in the store is between $1 and $5 in cost. My mom bought this cute glitter pumpkin that lights up for $5. We saw a very similar one in another store shortly after for $16! So, good deal! I got my little dog a small soccer ball for $5. A good price considering they are at least $10 elsewhere. She loves to kick the ball around and then destroy it. She's a terrier, after all. Sure enough the soccer ball was destroyed after about 60 seconds of play. Ooof. I hoped it would last a bit longer but for $5, that's not too bad... Anyway, this place is worth scoping out. Especially of you're looking for Halloween accessories.

We visited in October, so there was a big section full of costume items, party supplies, decorations, and candy.

I hadn't been to an Ollie's since I was in Nashville nearly two summers ago. This store has plenty of parking. I had no problem pulling into a spot fairly close to the entrance and walking in. You can score some cool deals here. It depends on what you are looking for and need. I was here before Easter. There was some good deals on candy and chocolate. I'm sure that it would have been even cheaper after the holiday. I spent a lot of time in the housewares sections. Reusable straws. Frying pans. Tongs. Silicone cookie cutters. Pretty much everything was there. The quality is decent for what you are paying for. I liked some of the quirky items like Yummy Can Bacon where you can cook bacon strips in your microwave. I also liked an LED soap dispenser to make washing your hands more enjoyable. You can save a lot on food. Cereal was cheap with brands like General Mills. I saw a lot of canned items, such as soup and peas. There was a spill in an aisle. A female staffer was sweeping a powdered detergent mess. It did smell nice as I walked by it. Staff are everywhere, but they left shoppers alone. Nice! The book section was cool. Phone accessories were next to it. It was cool seeing wireless chargers and phone mounts for your car. I will always have a soft spot for steering wheel covers at Ollie's. I got one at an Ollie's in Nashville and still use it. It was nice seeing a variety of them at this store. If you are on a budget and like deals on pretty much everything under the sun, you want to come here. It's best to sign up for a free Ollie's Army account. You can get digital coupons and save a bit more. I enjoyed shopping here. I got my fix before I headed home. I hope to drop by again when I'm in the area. (156)

Funny thing here. The website states the hours, but be sure to check the hours of the store you might want to go to. Funny thing, the mall is open, you can enter and walk about, but not many stores are open. When I visited, I did do a once around the mall to see what there would be to offer. However, many of them were not open and I did not want to stick around to nearly noon for them to open. This mall, looking a little new and fancy, is not immune to the effects of malls dying. There were more than a few empty storefronts. You can tell that some of them were recent and some of them have been vacant for a time. Walking around the mall you will stumble upon a few places that open before the mall states it is open. I was told this was because the stores were allowed to evaluate hours and open when they wanted to. Kind of defeats the purpose of assigning hours for the whole mall if you allow stores inside to make their own hours.

I even saw Hawaiian Host Strawberries and Creme White Chocolate covered mac nuts. I love seafood. They had cooked lobsters in packages of two for around $35 and huge packages of large head on shrimp for around $20. What a deal. If I was there longer I definitely would have bought those to eat. Sadly, we were leaving that day. Try out the food court is a must for me. They had all the standard: pizza, hot dogs and soft serve ice cream. They did have polish dogs. I wish they would bring that back at home. They also sell chicken strips and fries. I had to try out a Canadian specialty which is the poutine $6.99. It's french fries smothered in brown gravy and cheese curds. It was my first time trying it and I did not like it. The gravy was so salty and made the fries soggy. The cheese curds made the dish so rich. I couldn't even finish half of it. I dumped the rest. Oh well, at least I got to try it. *prices in CAD

That said, the differences based on geographical locations keep things interesting. Although there were plenty of folks walking about, traffic was pretty tamed and so were the lines queuing up to checkout. Speaking with one of the bakery staff members, their recent seasonal item was the Peach Mango Coconut Loaf Cake, which sounded amazing, so I got two. Even the cashier lady was eyeing them and wondered if they were any good. I also purchased a package of Mrs. Dunster's Crescent Shaped Sugar Donuts. After taking these items back home, my family and coworkers had a chance to try the loaf cakes. In my opinion, these loaves were a tad sweeter than I'd like, but the others enjoyed it. The donuts on the other hand were delicate and balanced in its sweetness, so I kinda wished I bought more.

This has been true well before Covid. Either way I don't mind. I go on days when I have time. My issue is the staff is always quite short and rude. Very rarely is anyone pleasant. I'm not saying bow at my feet when I walk in but reciprocating a greeting and eye contact when being asked a question goes a long way. I ordered 136 vases and candle holders online for my wedding. I went to pick it up and the cashier was clearly annoyed as she was the only one available. I had no problem waiting. I understand the pressure to get the line down when you're the only one cashing people out. After a short wait another employee came up and was directed to get my order. She went to the back and brought it right up. Now having bought mass quantities before I know I have to present t ID and sign. The cashier was still busy and said I didn't have to sign. Ok, fine. I took the shopping cart and told them I would return it. I unloaded and brought it back in the store. When I came back in. I offered to sign the paper and make sure it was set because I didn't want anyone to get in trouble. The same cashier seemed beyond frustrated with me at that point. So much for doing the right thing huh? Exasperated she said "It's fine if you're fine with it". It was the delivery for sure. I nodded and just walked away. Right now I'm going there for convenience but I'd rather go to other stores.

As I walked into the store the phone was ringing as very young cashier answered it, just then the (i won't put her name) ASM came from the aisle and loudly said "they are not supposed to answer that" In a very rude tone, another worker said "yes they are" her reply "well not when I'm up here". Her comments were so uncalled for she was clearly trying to show off her title as the ASM. Mind you the cashier was a very young lady most likely a seasonal worker. Ive been a SM in a retail setting for many years and this ASM needs better training and learn how to properly speak to her associates when in front of customers and co worker.
