They're laid out similarly, and they carry similar products, although we have learned to try multiple locations if we're looking for something specific, because we've learned that we can find stuff in other Dollaramas that we've never seen in the one closest to us. Although this particular Dollarama is a particular favourite of ours, partly because we just like Port Colborne. (It's kind of cool to say freighters cruising through the countryside, albeit a little disconcerting if you didn't know the canal was there.) We also like it because it's right next to a No Frills, across the street from a Harvey's, and not too far from Food Basics, so we can score a lot of what we're looking for in a single trip.

When my daughter asked if they were hiring her response was, "You're not who we're interested in." If that wasn't bad enough, the look and her body language was unnecessary and disgusting. Whoever you are (and I hope she's this), you should be ashamed of yourself. And so should five below for having such a nasty employee. Also, they carry some items that I just haven't been able to find in other stores at any price, so I keep going back to pick up those items. I've also learned to keep my eyes open for items that I wouldn't expect, especially in this price bracket. I'm guessing that those items are being liquidated, but I have found some fun stuff upon occasion. On the con side, the package sizes are so small that, even though (almost) everything is $1.25, I'm not convinced that the price per litre or kilogram is all always that great. Also, this particular location isn't nestled beside other stores where we like to shop (although it's not far from Seaway Mall). Like many dollar stores, the stock is wildly variable. I've learned not to count on a particular item being in stock, even if it has usually been there on previous visits. One tip: Dollar Tree uses the flimsiest plastic bags I have ever seen. They split open and spill your stuff all over the parking lot if you so much as look at them sideways. So even if you're not the kind of person who likes taking your own reusable shopping bags to the store, in this case, taking a little extra thought ahead of time can save you some annoyance.

I mean the incense, bamboo plants, samurai swords, clothes with weird sayings still there! Most things I saw were not 99 cents but they had some items that were interesting and worth it if that's your thing. Word of caution, its freezing inside. I suppose they cut down on overhead by not turning on the heat. I mean it was seriously warmer outside that it was in the store!

Armed with paperwork and a prepaid printed label,I went there for a FedEx envelope. No need for a FedEx envelope anymore ! The associate used an Office Max box( very reminiscent of a shirt box) for my paperwork and taped it up. Let me first say this associate was an absolutely wonderful person. Cheerful and courteous. But I can't say I've seen anything taped quite that way before. When it arrived at its destination, the recipient said it was held together by one piece of tape. FedEx delivery said that box should not have been sent that way. Not sure why FedEx didn't say anything to Office Max.... Not sure why associate wrapped it that way. Not sure why I didn't step in and tape it myself. Moral of the story , you don't need FedEx envelopes anymore. Tape your packages yourself.

There are all…read morethe things you would expect to find - paper, pens, desks, chairs, organizers, etc. There are also things I had not expected like the giant popcorn tins that everybody brings to the office during the holidays, and tins of butter cookies that are probably not filled with sewing supplies yet. Prices seemed reasonable, average for what I see at other places. Large aisles and good lighting, although it was not especially easy to find specific things without asking for help; signage could be better. The fourth star is because one of the employees went above and beyond trying to find something for me that was not on the shelf (just the tag and an empty space) but was listed in their inventory system that they had it. During the grand opening period, there are free hotdogs and pop/water, catered by Gerard The Hot Dog Man. The hotdog was delicious. All their stores have the same big format, possibly bigger than a large Canadian Tire. There is a big retail store which houses their living room furniture, sleep furniture, and appliances (eg. kitchen), and electronics (eg. exercise machines, massage chairs). They also have furniture that can fit in small apartments/condos. They also have free self-serve hot drinks machine and freshly made popcorn. The popcorn starts 1 hour before the store opening to make the scent of popcorn linger throughout the entire store. There is also a children's playground area to keep them busy while the potential purchases can concentrate on buying (great strategy!). At the other end of the store, there is their outlet store. When discontinuing a product, it goes to this side of the store. All products there are new, but also discounted. The outlet store has a 0% interest 60-month payment plan. The nice thing about this chain is that everyone you deal with is their employee, not any third party, from sales, customer service, to delivery. The sales staff work on commission. You can purchase from any store and have it delivered or picked up from any of their stores. The sales staff are very courteous and pleasant. There store is wheelchair accessible.
