My friend's son is getting home today from the Air Force boot camp training and she was really busy preparing the house so asked if I would get balloons from party city. I stopped at the Staples in ellicott city and got what I needed at about 2:45 pm 8/15. As I was about to get rung up, I was told by Jason that any balloons over $15 takes one hour and I would need to come back. I only had 6 balloons. He said in case they get bust he will have to help with the register. It was not busy at the time and there were 2 other men behind the counter. This was ridiculous. I ended up leaving without the balloons because I was in a rush and went to another staples. I asked a couple employees there about this so-called rule of waiting an hour if over $15 and they said they gave me never heard of that. So this review is location specific. I was in the store in ellicott city this morning between 10 and 11 am. i politely asked the cashier if it was okay to walk my mini dachshunds to the pen area to select a pen. the cashier said sure. go ahead. got back there and the manager started barking at me loudly in a unprofessional manner. he stated service dogs only. he didn't bother to ask for my service animal card. the manager was unprofessional rude and has put staples in danger of a lawsuit. read more

Excellent branch of Staples. I use the printing services a lot - they make helpful suggestions and the work is always done on time. When I needed a new computer set up, the manager spent time helping me select the right laptop and extra monitor. He made sure I had compatible equipment and made excellent suggestions on how to arrange the equipment on my desk. Good sales on frequently used office supplies. read more

As far as Staples go, this one is pretty generic. I don't have a printer, so I usually come here to make copies. There are three or four large copiers, and I've never had to wait to use one of them. They ask for a $5 credit to start the transaction. From my understanding, whatever isn't used is returned. If you goo over $5 it will charge you more. The interface is easy to use. I use a thumb drive, but you can also connect to your google drive. Unfortunately, about half of the time the copies come out with an ink smear. It's hard to know what quality you're going to get. Making copies here is great in an emergency, but I wouldn't recommend using the machines for something important like a resume for a job interview. read more

It's a staples - they keep it in good shape and it has the best id holders I've found, so I keep coming back here. As far as the staff go - they can be a bit hard to find, but once you do they've always been helpful pointing me in the right direction. When you're checking out it can be a bit hit or miss. Sometimes they are really friendly, but this last time, the woman checking me out was talking over her radio, rather loudly, the entire time without either a) greeting me, or b) apologizing - it's small things that can really make someone want to come back. Absolutely the worst printing service ever. I had one project that I sent online & it was never completed. I had to go in & have them re do it. I went again to order 2 signs & when I picked them up they were both damaged & peeling. I can't believe how poor the service was. People waiting in line & one worker took a walk up customer who wasn't in line at all. The only positive is that they gave me both of my projects free of charge. This review is specific to the 4380 Montgomery Road Ellicott City location. I've had great buying experiences at other Staples sites in the past and am disappointed in this site's customer service. I placed a print order to be picked up at this location and attempted to call the store to confirm its completion. An unidentified receptionist answered my call and immediately put me on hold. After 15 minutes on hold, I hung up the phone and called back. After 4 minutes of being on hold, an employee asked how she could help. I explained that I'm trying to confirm that my order is complete and ready for me to come pick it up. She took my name, confirmation number, then asked me to call the store back in 15 minutes. Confused, I asked her why I should call back in 15 minutes. Her verbatim response: "cuz that's what my manager just told me to tell you. Thanks, bye." She then hung up the phone. In my experience, Staples has competitive pricing and reliable customer service. I hope my experience today was an anomaly. read more

This Staples store is great. Their tech support, especially Rich, is outstanding. I purchased a desktop computer with Malik as the tech suggesting the equipment and software. Then Ruch transferred all of the files on my old laptop to the new desktop. Both techs have been thoughtful, helpful and professional. The print service has always been excellent, making sure my order is perfect and high quality, even if I mess up with the definition of the images. ;) But yesterday I put in a HUGE order, so I stopped by this morning to check on it. They now advertise that they repair cracked cell phone screens. They even have a kiosk in the front of the store with a narrated video describing how great the service is. EXCEPT when you actually want to get it done to an iPhone 7 or newer. There is one person who can do repairs for those phones. And you can only do it on his schedule. This week it was 8am - 2pm during the week. Why hand out tons of coupons and make a big deal about it when they are unable to performa that basic repair to what is likely the most common iPhone in use. Waste of time. If you need printing, copying or binding services in a timely fashion, this is NOT the place to go. If you don't mind rude, curt and abrupt customer service, this is the place for you. I had a small job (seven pages) that I needed printed, bound and mailed. As I approached the empty print center this morning, an older woman behind the counter glared at me and rudely asked what I needed. I started to explain and she cut me off to say that I needed to email it to an address printed on a sign. Without giving me a chance to ask how long the small project would take, she rudely stated that I could pick it up tomorrow, without offering any other statement or explanation. I was willing to wait a couple of hours and shop around in the area, but she brusquely reiterated that it couldn't be ready before tomorrow and they opened at 0800. I drove ten minutes to a competitor, was greeted at the door with a smile and had the job printed, bound and in the mail in LESS THAN 10 MINUTES! Customer service makes a difference and I will definitely not shop at this location again. read more

If I could give zero I would. I WILL NEVER SHOP AT STAPLES AGAIN!!! Terrible customer service tonight from the associate to the management team. First off one register open and I waited for 10 minutes to get help. I had 1 item with a receipt and 1 without. All i wanted to do was exchange both items for the same exact things. You would think this would be easy but nope!!! The first item with a receipt yes I want to exchange, he tells me I cant I have to do a refund. I tell him I don't have the card that's why I need to do an exchange. He looks at the receipt like something is going to jump out at him than after several minutes says oh, I'll give you cash than you go get the item and stand back in the one line open and wait to pay. After that I knew the other item was going to have problems. So that fast he forgets I still have another item. He says what are you still here for, my reply um the other item!! He says oh well you don't have a receipt so we can't do anything for you. After several minutes and because he knew I wasn't leaving he finally goes and gets a manager who pretty much tells me the same thing so I explain still being nice even though I'm getting annoyed that the item doesn't work I want the same thing nope he says no receipt. So than I throw out the I could just buy another one and than return this what's the difference? He looked at me dumbfounded like well yea you could but this one here I can't take back. Your customer service skills suck. Even the way you spoke to the other customer about their problem. I will never be back. Oh, and I never even bought the other item I took my money and left!! read more

I needed to get some material printed from a USB drive. The service could not have been worse. The self-serve machines couldn't read the USB drive. A clerk finally tried to help, but to no avail. He was able to download the files onto his computer for printing later. He estimated the job would be ready in a few hours. I returned about six hours later to find a long line of people waiting to pick up jobs. Several staff walked by the line. No one stopped to help. When I finally got to the front of the line the staff member couldn't find my job, much less any sign of it or what happened to it. I did get my money back. Horrible situation. read more

Do not get copies at this location! The woman running the copy/print center is very rude! The equipment is old and leaves streaks on the paper it prints out. Don't even try to ask for help when the copier runs out of paper because you'll get someone who doesn't think it matters if they load 11" or 14" long paper into the tray. Awful, just awful, find an Office Max instead and avoid this location at all costs!!! read more
