Horrendous customer service from top management to bottom. I have purchased items from this particular store and haven't thought their service was very good but they are conveniently located so I have continued to go there. I won't any longer. I purchased 3 Uber gift cards to send to my 3 kids who are in college in separate states and I requested either a gift receipt or additional copies of the receipts as I was headed to the post office with a gift package to send my kids and there are occasions when these gift cards don't work. I was told at this staples they don't issue gift receipts and would not give me 2 additional copies of my receipt unless I wanted to pay for them. Won't be returning read more

I am so pissed at this store, I bought some heavy colored paper. Went home printed some labels and went back to use paper trimmer!!! They said it was $3.00 a cut WTF I needed to make 10 strips. I just want to write a glowing review for Marquis from printing! He is such a hard honest worker! I asked the register girl what his name was and she told me everyone absolutely loves him! No surprise!! His customer service makes me want to come back to this staples as many times as I can! He brightened my day as I noticed his attention to customers needs, stepping out from behind the counter to help, and constantly checking on everyone to see if they were doing okay. This guy is absolutely the best role model for customer service and that's coming from someone who has worked in customer service for over 7 years. His joy is radiant! My friend was mailing my Christmas cards for me because I've been recovering from my cancer. She took a picture of the envelopes showing me that they were going to be in the mail. The store manager was standing behind her and was looking at her phone as she was taking the picture. She had no intentions of getting a staff member in the picture. The manager very rudely yelled at her in front of several customers saying not to take pictures of his staff. This incident could've been handled much more professionally if he would've just asked her. He was very abusive and loud and actually threw her out of the store. Which really makes me laugh because she is the kindest sweetest person and would do anything for anyone. For him to act like that during Christmas. Shame on you Staples!!! read more

Don't ever replace your iPhone screen over there!!! I had my iPhone 7 Plus fixed over there on Oct 2,2019. While the manager who seemed to be responsible for the tech department got my screen-broken phone, he tried the Touch ID and felt the feedback of the vibration which told him that the fingerprint wasn't recognized( so both Touch ID vibration were fully functional at the that time ). After an hour, I got my phone back and the screen was fine. However, the HOME BUTTON which Contained the TOUCH ID did not work and there was no VIBRATION. Even worse, my speaker stopped working either. So I immediately went back to talk to the manager and his altitude was surprisingly negative . He told me that there was nothing he can do and I either can get back my refund or I had to wait until next day afternoon to replace a screen. I asked him what about the speaker , the home button and vibration that were originally worked. He said that there is nothing he can do other than refund the money if the new screen doesn't work either.So there will be no responsibility at all if staples broke any parts of your phone. They will only refund your $150 which you paid for the screen and you have to waste your time to find a new place and you have to pay more than a screen to fix any parts that are damaged by the STAPLES. I sincerely concern you that STAPLES should not be your place to fix those electronic devices. read more

We have been shopping that this company for years now, and have spent thousands of dollars in supporting this company. I personally have called your location (Store: 1078 241 E. 17th Costa Mesa, CA), and asked a simple question if they accept old printers that are broken.  They told me yes.  I again asked if there was a size maximum if I wanted to dispose of the printer.  They said no.  I also asked if someone would be able to help my co-worker move the printer from her car because she is pregnant, and they said they would have someone help.  That same co-worker also called that same day to confirm that they accept printers and that location said yes.  The next day I find out that my co-worker(who was French) said that the staff was helpful but the manager comes out in a negative manner yelling at her, stating we don't accept broken printers.  Treating her with no sign of respect and offers to call the police if she doesn't take that printer somewhere else?  She agreed she could take the printer somewhere else but she simply told him she was confused because we as a company called TWICE to confirm that you accept broken printers.  The manager denied and said her accusations were not true.  I think the staff themselves were helpful helping my pregnant co-worker load the printer back in the car but that manager makes me embarrassed to live in a country that treats foreigners that way. read more

Staples occasionally will send me a $5 or $10 coupon to be used at their store. I recently purchased some items there and applied my coupon towards that purchase. All went well until 15 minutes later, I realized I purchased a wrong item. So, I went back to the store and requested a return so that I could purchase the correct item. To my surprise, I was told by the clerk (who spoke to the Manager), that because I purchased the item using a coupon, She could not provide me credit towards the purchase of the item I wanted and that I would have to pay the full price. This made absolutely no sense to me. They could have corrected it very easily and I would have left a happy customer. They were just not willing to go that extra step. My neighborhood Staples failed! I was in a pinch and having printer troubles on a Saturday. I needed to print 8 copies on custom paper that I supplied. I was happy to use the "self" print machines, but they wouldn't program to 5 x 11, so I had to ask for help. That's when I was told by the store manager, they weren't getting any jobs finished until Sunday. I explained that I had only 8 copies to print and that I needed them for an event that evening. She made excuses a customer doesn't want to hear. We have only one person, we have too many orders. Really? I needed 8 copies, had paper in hand, and file. On average I shop here a dozen times a month. I'm never demanding and usually very patient. When it really mattered they couldn't deliver. Customer service is everything. ***Review for Easy Tech dept*** Saying i had anything less than a 5 star experience would be a lie. The tech department at this location is impressive to say the least. I have been chasing an intermittent (read:impossible for me to diagnose) issue with my PC for a couple of years. Finally resolved to pay a "pro" to do it. I can tell you that i really did get a pro at this Staples location. Bruno is fast and skilled, and very professional. In the course of my misdiagnosis, i suspected a hardware issue, then a software issue, then a hardware issue...turned out to be deeply rooted software issue. I don't think i would have ever figured it out. Not only did Bruno figure it out quickly, but he was a day ahead of schedule and followed through with all services promised. I was presented with the information about the problem, which allowed me the opportunity to choose the best course of action for my budget and needs. I'm very satisfied. I came into staples to do a lot of shopping I needed supplies for work, was going to buy a pair of air pods for a Christmas present. I also needed a cord to Hook up to my MacBook Air to hdmi. They sent Dean who was suppose to be the technical guy but was having a hard time answering simple questions about tech. The worse part is they just kept leaving me in the aisle with cords for all kinds of electronics. I went back three times to tell Dean I still needed his help. He would not even go back to the aisle with the cords. Instead he stayed at the front greeting people. This was a shame because I drove out my way to go to this staples and had a lot of other things to get that night. When I ask for a manager they couldn't even produce one. Nobody seemed to know anything that was going on. STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE UNLESS YOU NEED ZERO HELP FROM ANY EMPLOYEES. What a waste. Worse staples I have ever been too and I like staples. I LOVE the staff here. They are so helpful. They have fixed my computer at a moment's notice and are always well stocked with any office supply I might need. Copy station is rarely too busy . Staples has what you need when you need it. That being said, everything is WAY overpriced and you can usually get everything cheaper elsewhere. It's a corporate policy so I can't fault this store in particular. THIS IS IMPORTANT: Will honor competitors prices!!! So you can still get the convenience and service, just remember to bring in an add or a website with the item you need and the selling price at the other location. read more

Since this Staples is 4 blocks from my house, I have spent a lot of time and money here! I know that as a company, Staples has had some rough patches but this store is just great. Everyone is super helpful and nice. The copy and print department is always fast and does a good job. Today I went in looking for a new router and Bruno helped me. So I attempted to create a same day pick up in store online order but had difficulties sizing my front and back side images resulting in my phone call to ask for help but instead was provided with very much appreciated offer by Amy to handle it for me via email which she did within 2 hours and 45 minutes and even in spite of a request to revise one of the images I hadn't previously noticed needed correction with notification that if she had already completed to disregard my request since it was my own fault for not proofing my image she perfectly created the cards for me and spent the extra time care and effort to exchange the revised image for me. I hate to give this place 3 stars as an ex-Staples employee (in my teens)! I actually worked the customer service desk and did returns/exchanged (back to school season is NO JOKE, lemme tell ya!) I just haven't always had the greatest experiences here. Thinking back, I've been directed to the wrong areas, told they were out of stock on things and then ended up finding it myself, and the online reserving is a joke - let me elaborate: I reserved some toner online around 6:30PM and was told by Staples.com that it was guaranteed to be ready in 2 hours. I was working late and needed the toner for a tradeshow the next day. VIT (very important toner) would be an understatement. Well, two hours passed and I knew the store closed at 9, so I dropped in on my way home from work to pick up the toner. When I got there, not only was my order not ready, the manager said they "hadn't even been online all day"....uhhhh....and then when I said I needed a very common micro-USB charging cord without even looking for it he just said "Yeah I doubt we have that."...uhhhhh again....it's super common. So he flagged another employee over and of course he found one for me in like 3 seconds flat. I mean, you know what to expect from Staples, they're all the same - clean, well organized, usually stocked - but when it comes to brownie points aka Yelp stars, customer service is how you get rated, and unfortunately, I can't give out more than 3. LAST BUT NOT LEAST: ALWAYS check prices online at Staples.com before you go to the store - 4/5 times the online price is cheaper and they will honor it in store! read more

I am an avid Staples customer, whatever city, whatever the job, whatever the product I will choose Staples first. I upgraded my T-Mobile phone and Rick Nguyen at the Costa Mesa store (you can find him all over Orange County) was the best. It took awhile for my phone to respond and transfer all my stuff to my new phone and he stood there and waited for it to all finish and even explained my new features. I went to their Easy Tech center because my laptop screen was cracked and I needed it replaced. I called them at 5:00, two hours before closing, and Adam said I could bring it in right then. By 6:30 he called me back saying it was ready! It was busy when I came in, so I really appreciated that Adam was able to fix my computer so quickly. I like that he didn't dismiss it just because they were about to close soon. I came in just before the store closed and even though Adam was helping other customers, he got to me promptly and gave me my fixed computer. He booted it up for me and connected it to the internet so that I could see that everything was in working order. I really liked how simple this whole process was. I had been calling all over town describing my laptop to various computer repair stores, and telling people, "I have the new screen, all I need is for someone to put it in for me," and being met with, "Uhhh, I can't give you a price quote. We might not even be able to do that." When I called Adam, he was super straight forward and told me exactly how much it was going to cost, too. I'll definitely be coming back for the free computer tune-up that they offer! I feel like I now have a go-to laptop repair place, which is really refreshing and puts my mind at ease. read more

Honestly, very very great staff out here. I recently came in here to buy supplies for my fashion portfolio. I thought I knew what I wanted, but I couldn't find the perfect fit amongst the vast amount of choices. When I told one of the employees what type of portfolio I needed to put together, she knew EXACTLY what I was looking for and showed it to me within a matter of seconds. I was very thankful, and it was apparent that she has a very good knowledge of what they have at that store. I proceeded to check out and had a friendly conversation with the cashier. I came back here a few days later, and a Hispanic girl & spiked hair white guy from the copy center helped me print my photos out for my portfolio. The white guy seemed a little aggressive at first, but in the end, the both of them were very nice, and the prints turned out great. If you know any other place you can go to buy what you need please go there and not to this Staples on 17th street. Even Best Buy has better service and has employees who would be glad to greet & especially assist you... After a long day at work I decided to drop by Staples because i needed to buy ink for my printer. I was very exausted already from work and going here just made my night worse! Coming here was probably one of the biggest regrets in my life. Anyways, so as i arrive and enter the store I see multiple employees, about 2 customers, and as I enter all employees saw me entering but no greetings at all, not even one. I ignored that and proceeded to the ink section, and then again i see another 2 employees who notice me but no greetings once again! I'm pretty sure they saw me having trouble finding the ink cartradge I was looking for but received no help. I even felt embarrassed because I couldn't even find the darned ink cartridge I needed. Then when I finally found the ink cartridge I proceeded to the cashier. This is where the heart of my experience happened. I received the most miserable looking employee in my life. As I stood in line patiently, before me was one customer at the cashier. When the customer left and it was my turn I waited for the cashier to say "next", but she never did. I approached the cashier, and guess what, no greeting once again!!!! Face to face with an employee of Staples, No Good evening, hi, or not even a hello. I placed the item on the counter and she just stares at me and takes the item then scans it in like i wasn't even there. The cashier's name is, "Daisy D.". the look on her face seemed like I was not only unwelcome but made me even feel bad for even being there and buying something. To put her through that trouble of me paying for an item probably made her life more miserable of not wanting work there. So when my item was scanned in she didn't say how much my total was, again i was feeling like a ghost. So I put in my card and then signed. She hands me my receipt, i look at her, then she says "YOUR WELCOME!!" in a rude and angry tone of voice. I was expecting a "Thank you!", but I actually received the opposite as if i was the one thanking her for her doing her job. Then I just looked at her and left. Pretty much glad that I was finally out of there. This will be the last time I will be going here, actually I'm not even sure if I would even want to go to a Staples anymore. I definately will be passing this on to my family, friends, co-workers, facebook, youtube, yelp, and pretty much everybody i know or soon to meet. Best buy has SOOO MUCH BETTER OFFERS, BETTER PRICES, BETTER PROMOTIONS, BETTER SERVICE, BETTER EMPLOYEES WHO ARE actually HAPPY with their lives working there!!!! I try to find time to write positive reviews when a company really deserves it. I've been a regular at this Staples for at least ten years now. I've bought 3 computers there, and have all our service contracts through these guys. Bruno and David are amazing, and always willing to go over and beyond, whether it's a sale or a service. David set me up with my last two laptops and I couldn't be more pleased. The service is so much better than other OC stores I've purchased computers and office supplies from. I went in on a Sunday afternoon to pick up my print order I had submitted by email earlier that day and they said it would be ready in 1 hour. When I got there (3 hrs later) they could not locate my order but the Manager Peter came to my rescue and was able to provide me with exceptional customer service to make sure I had my documents ready for my Monday morning meeting. He went above an beyond to make the situation right by providing exceptional customer service and I feel he needs to be recognized for it. What he did does not happen these days especially in retail.
