In my last review, I said, I wasn't sure if I was going to use this Staples again. I was wrong! I visit them at least once a month, if not more, for event copies, signage, and other promotional items and the output has always been top-notch. They're wonderful for larger volume orders, specifically items they can print in-house like postcards, business cards, flyers, etc. But they're also great at providing larger pieces (though some may need to be outsourced to their print center and shipped to you directly like large signs floor, decals, banners, etc). A while back, they had a really great coupon so I spent a little extra money to get some evergreen prints that I could use over and over. To maintain their longevity I asked them to laminate them so they would last beyond one event and they did a beautiful job and I've been able to use all of them multiple times since. The staff here is really nice and they're always prompt at getting my orders ready in time and well done. The store itself is also nice and clean and it is a very enjoyable place for an office supply junkie like myself to browse through. I still live down the street from them so it has become the only place I tend to get copies now and they're a great resource! read more

My first visit to this Staples and was assisted by Chris and let me tell you this young man was helping two other customers plus me. Very polite, kind and knowledgeable. Gave excellent customer service to all of us. He also was very efficient. Give this young man a promotion and raise. The price was great, I did not feel ripped off. I returned a week later for a different service, which he honestly said they could do the work but it was not going to look great. Honesty wow, his parents raised a great young man. Came here to buy a printer and some paper. At the cash register, the cashier wouldn't let me purchase the printer without a protection plan. After 3 'No Thanks' responses, he called the store manager over to verify the purchase. Store manager reaches over to the protection plan and starts spewing the same thing. I said, 'No' twice. Then he starts the same spew on buying more ink because of Coronavirus. After that, I told them both either I can buy this printer right now or I can leave. After the last strong recommendation for the plan and more ink; I left the basket and will never return to this store again. read more

This is a wonderful Staples and the only place I go to in Ann Arbor for office supplies. Jerry helped me twice with two different orders and even offered to have discounted monitors shipped in from another store for free. He was very professional and clearly takes joy in his work. The Ann Arbor Staples store is not a good place to shop. The store is quite dirty and has not been vacuumed or cleaned in quite some time. The women's bathroom stalls were disgusting. The shelves were half empty and did not look like anyone ever straightens them up after closing. Binders in first aisle were thrown all over the shelves. I also purchased a steno notebook that was listed as $3.79 on the shelf, really expensive, but I bought just one because I needed it. Got home and I was charged $4.49!! And finally, the cashier could not figure out my correct change so had to call manager over to do it. I'll never go back to this store! read more

Horrible customer service. The cashier was totally incapacitated because there was no tag to scan. My mom wanted to purchase a laptop bag. We couldn't locate another like it but it was perfect for my stepfather's needs and likes. We took it up front to cash out and find out how much it costs. No go. He couldn't figure it out and wouldn't sell it to us because it was missing the tag and he didn't know what to charge. We left the other items and walked out. Very frustrating. read more

This place is a bit run down and not very well stocked, but if something isn't in stock, you can place an order for it and have it delivered to your home. The employees are friendly & helpful, but you might have to wait around until one can get to helping you. read more

Cumbersome. Website is cumbersome hard to manuever so theoretically I can order and pick up but in reality, one thing is there, the next a simple order of pens is not. Then there is the staff, especially the cashiers. It's like they hire based on how ornery looking the person is, the flatter the facial expression the better. Yesterday (I did feel sorry for the guy) they were training a little old man. Now I am empathetic that it is hard to start a new job and have a lot of things coming at you. But some people are just not right for some jobs. I would likely be just as unfit for the job he was training for. But he was in super slomo confused mode. It would have been ok but for the fact that every time I go there something upleasant or disorganized happens at the checkout.....not that the rest of the experience is all that easy either. read more

Poor customer service and lack of teamwork makes for a long and frustrating visit, even with online pick up orders.

This place is bad, way bad. Okay, first the good things. I usually come here to make color photocopies. They have a nice self-service machine where I can use my own paper, the print quality is better than all other places I've been, and they're only 49 cents each. You can get most of your basic office/school supplies here, but they are strangely missing some rather common items. And they have a bunch of crap that's been on the shelves for years. It's just a Staples, so you shouldn't expect much, but this place still manages to dissapoint. I went there to do some research on a scanner. The kid who was talking with me knew almost as much as I did, and eventually I bought one there because he mentioned the 110% price-matching. I was pretty sure I could get the same scanner fo $50 bucks less online, but if I could then I could just get the refund. WRONG! It turns out that they don't match online prices. I shouldn't have been surprised by that, but the three non-manager employees I interacted with in the course of this fiasco didn't know. Not until it required a manager's code to get money from the regirster did this come up. I can still pack it up and return it and save the $50, but with all the time that would waste I could just earn an extra $50. So I literally wasted that money or time because the lackeys don't know what's going on. I will never buy anything but pen refills and post-it notes from them in the future. Bottom line: I hate them, but I like their copier. read more

I went to the EasyTech people to simply transfer information from one PC to another. It look 4+ days and each time I called they said it would be ready the next day. If they were just honest with the time it takes it would have been easier and caused much less frustration. Go to a professional to do this because they were very unprofessional and had poor customer service. Staples should stay out of the technology business if this is their M.O. read more

Went to print a project in color, NONE of the five printers worked. I spent over 30 minutes trying to get it to work. The customer service was terrible. The woman who was working the printing center knew nothing about technology and didn't help me at all. There were five other people trying to get things printed and she didn't know how to do any of it, and didn't call anyone else to help. Go to office max instead!!! Staples has wretched customer service. I loathe going there. I asked if they carried something and they just waved and said over that way.

Despite what it says on the website, they do not accept UPS packages for shipment. Waste of a trip. Also smells like burnt plastic.

Customer service is terrible. They are excellent at having you come to the store to tell you they will order you something online. (Which you could just do from your house in the first place and save yourself the gas and time to go.) The copy center overcharges cutting by 400% on average. OfficeMax in the shopping center off of Oak Valley Dr, Waters and Ann Arbor-Saline Rd is a much better store and is honest with their copy center pricing. They also have the same self-serve copy machines. If I had to choose a place to give my money to, I'd go there instead. read more

I needed help finding a certain item and a sales person looked me in the eyes and walked past me without saying anything. I waited in line for ten minutes. Which is fine, not too long. But there was only one register open while LITERALLY 6 people stood around appearing to do nothing. Then all of the employees starting talking about how late they were going to be there and who gets to take a break. Kinda seems like they already were. read more

I'll start with the good things. The copy and print department does some very nice work, (actually, that's why I'm giving them a second star,) but tell them you need it a week before you absolutely must have it or you won't have time to have things fixed if they make any mistakes. The self serve copiers are also pretty good in quality, but the things actually made behind the counter use some of the nicest paper for colour copies that I've ever seen. If you want it to look really professional, try that. However, if you're trying to print photos or anything with a specific colour profile, you're better off sending it to a professional service bureau. They also have a great selection of ink cartridges if you need something fast to finish a printing job, but they don't carry a lot of single ink cartridges for small printers, so you may end up buying a pack with that extra black you don't need. However, once you get past that, the store is ridiculous. It's almost laughable, and would be, if you didn't have to deal with the frustration yourself. The layout for the registers is like going through a maze. If you just step up to the customer service desk after walking through the door, you'll be annoyed to find you have to walk around about 20 feet of low level shelving in the opposite direction and then back to within two feet of where you were previously standing before someone will actually process your order. Customer service really isn't their strong suit. They have few people in the store willing to help customers. Every time I've walked in, I get past the cash registers and struggle to find someone actually on the floor. It seems like everyone is perpetually taking breaks or truly doesn't care about the customer. Items are routinely out of stock, shelves are frequently empty of popular products. They don't seem to be good at restocking anything; I came back 3 times in 2 weeks and did not get the item I was waiting for. I was even told by an employee that the item I wanted probably came in on the truck, but they hadn't got it unpacked yet. Finally a manger offered to order it for me online and have it shipped to me. If I had known about this option and how much trouble I was going to have trying to get my items, I would have never set foot in the store. Frankly, you're better off buying the item online in the first place and having it shipped straight to your house to totally bypass this entire debacle. read more

This Staples doesn't seem to stock that much in their store. This was pretty frustrating when I was shopping for my supplies. Also, finding an employee to help me find some items was difficult. But once I got a hold of one, they were really helpful. The items I needed that were not in stock were applied to my order and shipped to my apartment for free. The employee was really nice and courteous. Very helpful, which gives this review an extra star than I think they actually deserve. read more

There aren't any office supply shops other than this around so you're kind of stuck but this is not a good store. The stock is fair at best and not well maintained. More problematic is the marked lack of customer service. It's consistently amazed me that a business could hire this many people without a focus on customer service. It's almost like they had to specifically post adverts to hire individuals who are NOT interested to work in retail. Go if you have to but be prepared to work to get out the door. read more

I am sorry to write this review; but, I feel compelled to. I purchased a Norton anti-virus code from this Staples. When I tried to use it, my current Norton account told me that the code was not compatible with my current anti-virus software. I asked the store manager to exchange it to what I really needed. She said that the policy is no exchanges of open software. I am not sure how I could verify any software without opening the package. Needless to say, I am sending my destroyed rewards card to Staples and will never shop there again. My efforts to support local businesses just do not seem to be worth it. I will purchase what I need on-line directly from Norton. read more
