These people are terrible. I brought my phone here for it to be fixed. I spent $60 nonrefundable fee for them to repair, only for them to not succeed. Honestly, this didn't make me upset. I knew I was taking a risk to have it fixed and they never guaranteed anything. However, what did upset me was the fact that after looking around more, this seemed to be the only phone repair shop in Ann Arbor that charges a nonrefundable fee to even attempt to fix a phone. The other stores will only charge you if they're successful in fixing your phone. I picked up my broken phone back from these frauds. Upon pickup they tried to upsell me on a deluxe package that would entail a "deeper dive" and a more thorough fixing process. I couldn't believe it. They kept saying that no other competitors would be able to fix the phone and it was destroyed. Well surprise, surprise....I took it to another competitor and they had it completely fixed within 1/2 a day! And didn't even charge me unless the phone was fixed! TLDR: is your phone is broken, don't come here for them to repair it. AVOID! read more

My iPhone was completely dead, I mean paperweight, would do nothing. I did all the troubleshooting steps with Apple, took it to their "genius" people (2hrs of my life gone). Apple said that they were sorry but could do nothing to help, the phone was dead. Took it to two other independent repair shops, got the same answer. When I took it to Genius Phone Repair I got OUTSTANDING and FAST customer service (try getting that from Apple). My service provider is AT&T so I started their first they referred me to another phone repair place who had no technician and I ended up at genius. Not surprisingly both the phone creator and my phone carrier were talking replacement, upgrades etc. Someone suggested this place - they fixed it within an hour! (replacing charger port). No loss of data, no new chargers, cases etc. And most heartening of all- the sensibility and ethics of -- trying to fix things and use them for a long time, not just chuck them and get a new one, full of more stuff you don't need! I visited Genius phone repair because my phone was having a reboot loop issue and would not boot up. I dropped it off to them, and the next day they told me that with disconnecting the home button from the logic board, they got it to boot up. My screen was also cracked, and they said that for $110 or so, they could replace the touch home button with a clicking one and would replace my screen; they told me if I opted to replace my screen on a different ticket, it would cost substantially more to not bundle the repairs. I agreed to pay $110 for the repair. The next day, I went to pick up the phone... only to find that they didn't swap out the home button like they said, just disconnected it and then replaced the screen. I spoke to the person who was checking me out, who denied that they agreed to do it, and said the $110 cost was just to replace the screen. I was frustrated but at this point, just wanted my phone back so I agreed to pay for the repair so I could leave the store. Fast forward 2 weeks later, and I'm having similar reboot loop repair issues. Thinking that this would be covered under their so-called warranty, since they'd worked on it, I called them - only for them to tell me that it could be another issue causing it, that they hadn't ruled out, and they couldn't guarantee there wouldn't be a charge. I felt even more cheated out of my money when I went to a different phone repair place that told me that they had failed to put a seal on the screen. Heed the other reviews, and go somewhere else, unless you enjoy being scammed. read more

I think these people mean well, but I would not recommend taking any Apple iPad or iPhone to them for anything... I took mine there for a battery change about a year ago.. have taken it back 3-4 times and it still won't hold a charge... Apple says wont touch it because of third party work... but would have sent my iPad to their factory and given me a working refurnished, same model replacement... So, with Apple, I'd still have a working iPad and not wasted a lot of time!! read more

Be careful w these people. Don't use them! They'll suck you in with fast service and you're initially happy that they fixed your problem. Then, if your newly "repaired" phone breaks again, as mine did, they won't stand by their work. They have your money, and won't give you a refund. You still have a broken phone. When mine broke again, after being repaired 2 weeks earlier with a promise that "if anything breaks, bring it back and we'll fix it", they said sorry - we won't fix it unless you pay us again. I'm a calm person, but this was plainly a rip off designed to make money when you're desperately in need of repair, and when the "repair" doesn't stand up, they won't honor their promises. It's bad business with no offer to make it right. I poured $100+ down the drain with this repair, and I ended up leaving with an unfixed phone, having to go someplace else who gave me a written guarantee of their work. If there were more stars on Yelp I'd use them for this repair store in Ann Arbor. But honestly, the real stars are working behind the counter inside. Scott and Todd are the best in the business and I owe them for making a nightmare situation into a dream scenario. They really saved my smashed iPhone 5s's screen and couldn't have been more professional or tech savvy. They were pretty good, but the phone I bought they made me believe was good, and when I bought it wasn't charged and after 5hours of charging it I got 4 hours of use out of it. After working all week not having time to bring it in I finally made it in after 10days and explained to them that the phone needs to be charged 3x a day and is always searching for service they couldn't help. Offered to buy it back for 50$. When 10 days ago I paid 350$ for the phone. They told me the phone was old and outdated. So obviously I'm not happy with my purchase and will chose a new phone repair in the future. read more

Terrific experience here. Had an iPhone 4s that was in mint condition having been protected by a Lifeproof case since Day 1 many years ago. The case finally wore out, and the phone was exposed! Of course, I dropped it on it's back almost immediately, which turned out to be made of glass. WTF? Stuffed it back in the case, such as it was, and it worked fine for about 3 weeks. Then it starts dropping calls and shutting off for no reason. Then it just died, would not turn on, DEAD. A horrible, modern feeling of dread came over me and my business. My wife had a battery replacement done by Genius on her 4s to her satisfaction, so I took my phone to them. They quoted me a battery replacement and a new back, or maybe a charging port. Could have been up to $150 (ok w/me) which is still cheaper than a new iPhone. When I came back later that afternoon, they had replaced the back only and told me they tested the battery and the port etc and that all worked fine. Seems there was a tiny screw floating around from when the back broke causing trouble. Saved my precious 4s and gave it a new back for only $24! Same day, very cool. Could have totally ripped me off for all three repairs and I would have been none the wiser. Can't say enough good things about this place 100% trustworthy and great for me. read more

Here is my story, I am a local firefighter whose phone was drenched in a recent fire and not working correctly. I took it there to see what they could do to salvage my phone. They told me it would have to have some chemical bath to repair the water damage and replace the screen. Desperate, I said go ahead. I picked up the phone and all seemed good except cloudiness in the camera and an inoperable home button, $150 was paid and out the door I go. Later that evening I found that neither microphone was working and returned to the store 2 days later because I was on duty at the fire station the day after they supposedly fixed it. I told them about the issue and they offered to re-evaluate it for a price. I informed them that this is why I paid them initially and they didn't correct the problem. I asked for a refund of the chemical bath with seemed to do nothing and they again stated they could fix the problem for a price. I left the store and went to the apple store where they were nice enough to discount me the $150 I was screwed out of at this store. DO NOT USE THIS STORE. They are liars and cheats. read more

Well, I'm going to disagree with the rave reviews here. I would call this place just another screen repair shop, and you could likely get your screen repaired much cheaper elsewhere. Took my Samsung Note5 in because I dropped it in water & SIM card reader stopped working. Everything else on the phone = fully functioning: screen, camera, all apps, WiFi, aux & headphone ports, S Pen... Phone wasn't glitchy at all & described as "high functioning" by store tech. Note it WAS dropped in water and corrosion may take a while. I want to be honest/give all the facts, so you can decide for yourselves about this company. The phone was in use for 3 weeks post-water prior to the SIM stopping working. This was my experience: 1. called Eisenhower location, told they 'require/store policy' an alcohol wash for any phone dropped in water before they will do any other repairs, wash = $99, then quoted at $110 for wash + repair. 2. dropped phone off at Carpenter location because it's closer. Told them of Eisenhower convo, that I knew wash was 'required', & $110 price. Carpenter said (these are paraphrased obviously) 'okay, so the repair is $110 and then if we need alcohol wash we will give discount of $49 due to getting the repair done here'. Wait, what? Told them Eisenhower quoted $110 complete, and wash was mandatory. They said they only require wash if phone is poorly functioning. I told them the other place told me the total price was $110. They acted as if I wasn't speaking English and just kept saying "yeah, the repair will be $110". 3. Decide not to give my phone to Carpenter because of shady math. Drop phone at Eisenhower, tell them about Carpenter saying wash not mandatory & price change, and their stance then became "well we aren't going to give you a different price than the other store quoted". Am I in an alternative reality here? Eisenhower gave me that price!! Eisenhower told me the wash was store policy! Now Eisenhower was telling me that the wash wasn't required and of course that the price was magically still $110 + and extra $50 if they ended up needing to do the wash. I should have ran right then, but really wanted phone fixed so left it. 4. hear nothing for over a week, call, they call Lansing tech (where my phone was sent)/call me back & say they couldn't fix it. I ask when I can pick it up, but then guy says he will have to call Lansing and ask when they will send it back. ?? It honestly seemed like he thought I was going to leave it. He didn't call back, I called the next day & was given pick up date. 5. Picked up what is now a completely broken phone. Screen magically stopped working during their possession. Did they take my functioning screen and give me a broken one to make some $$ since they don't charge when they can't fix something? That's entirely possible IMO. Did THEY break the screen and now are just like 'well your phone was a mess' even though it was, in their own words and my personal experience of 3 weeks post-trauma, "highly functioning"? Again, a reasonable assumption to me. Is it just the nature of water damage/corrosion that it could have spread and gotten worse? Yeah, that's possible too, but the thing is Carpenter had it open & said nothing about extensive corrosion; another tech (not Genius) had it open (who couldn't fix the SIM because they didn't do micro-saudering) and also never mentioned corrosion. So it just seems kind of amazing to me that all of a sudden my broken phone is due to extensive corrosion that was somehow never seen by a multitude of professionals previously. I had a gut feeling I shouldn't leave my phone with them/that they could only handle screen repair, and ended up right. I gave them a phone that I could have sold on eBay for $200 and got back something I can't sell for $10 towards a new one. I'd never recommend for anything beyond standard screen repair and even then I'd say you can get a much better price elsewhere. read more

Don't buy their refurbished phones or expect them to honor their warranty. I brought in a phone with a cracked screen. They said they couldn't get the parts to fix it so the only option was to buy an entire refurbished phone from them and replace the logic board with the one from my old phone. It cost about $200 an worked fine until the phone broke two months later. They refused to replace it under their warranty even though it was clearly defective. The touch screen stopped working, then the display, and then the glass cracked, all without being dropped or squeezed (swelling battery maybe?) In general the staff was very bad about calling me when the work was done and I had to call to check in. Several times I was told to call back another day even after the work was supposed to be done. read more
