He's been able to correct any issue we've thrown his way, and he does it virtually immediately. If he has to wait for parts, etc., through no fault of his own, he keeps you apprised of the progress and continues to "harass" the vendor until they come up with the goods. Adam is friendly, funny, and tops in his field, and we couldn't recommend him more highly. His price point is more than fair. Update 2: I emailed Adam 13 days ago requesting a copy of the video footage that he offered. I got no response. This business never has returned my ticket inquiry, my email, or made phonecalls to me without me having to be the one to reach out. I felt dismissed in my concerns about timeframe and recollection of what I had been told, and then I felt disrespected and ignored through this review and attempt at resolution process. Somehow Adam seemed to have no problem calling me same day to threaten me about a Yelp review and allegedly had time to review video footage, but not enough time to follow-up and send that to me as Adam they said they would in the voicemail if I wanted it. I would not really care enough to update normally if a review hadn't changed, but after I shared what was my recollection of events and receiving poor customer service, followed by threats, I figured I'd share what the result of trying to resolve this with them was, which was nothing. No response. I had happily shared his slanderous statement (as it was stated as fact with the statement "it (the video) shows" and not an opinion statement) he shared via voicemail in a previous review, yet I am unable to share what I felt was my experience without threats. He threatened to sue me over my experience that I shared on Yelp. None of this above can be considered as defamation, because the non-opinions are provable by phone logs and the voicemail and email. I personally would steer clear of this business as despite our differences in recollection of events, the lack of follow-up alone and what treatment I can prove is not good business practice. I checked with Michigan law, and I removed the prior review of recollection of events that we could not prove without recordings since Adam did not share his. There is no case there. However, I suspect if there was, because of the voicemail, that would not be a great outcome for the business. Potentially not for me either. At the end of the day, I think it's likely our mutual agreement to not do business and leave it at that. And good news I guess is that I was able to sell my computer elsewhere. Hopefully they can put the parts to good use. And it's my hope the business can learn and grow from this experience. I do want to see small businesses do well. But I also didn't feel that if my experience is a commonplace that it will help the future. Hopefully all the reviews after this will be good experiences from customers. Yelp and the Consumer Review Fairness Act prohibits the removal of reviews under threat from a business. read more

You can go to any shop to fix a computer, but no one has the customer service and commitment like A2. I came in to get a new computer, and when the computer couldn't load the program I wanted to use, they upgraded it and worked through the holidays to get it back to me while regularly updating me on its progress. Even though he was busy, the man behind the counter took time to look at my computer and suggested that I call the maker since it should be covered under warranty. He told me to avoid the big box store I bought it at because they would probably try to take advantage of me. He found the phone number I needed to call and told me exactly what to say. Can't recommend them enough! Very upfront and honest about the process and cost. I took my computer in with a broken hinge, they diagnosed it in a day, but told me it would take a while for parts to come in. (There was also some confusion about what parts to order - apparently my particular model doesn't match up with their vendor - but they kept me informed about what was going on, and they made sure to receive verification from the vendor rather than order wrong parts.) They let me pay up front, and take my computer home to keep using with the broken hinge, which was super useful as I'm a student and needed this computer for notes! The parts came early, so I brought my computer back, and less than 24 hours later I had a fully functional computer. I was able to pick it up in time for my next class! 100 times better than mailing out your computer for repair and waiting for two weeks with zero computer and zero communication. read more

Poor customer service on the phone. Whomever I was speaking to on the phone, you don't bad mouth your previous customer's to a potential one (me). If you think you understand what the problem is then explain it without sounding condescending to the customer. Not only that, but as a tech enthusiast, it was disgusting to see the business practices I was hearing on the phone. Brought my 2011 IMAC in with the endless-circle-of-death-problem. After they checked it out, I just needed a new hard drive. Super great communication on status of repair--The owner communicated with me over email, text and phone to let me know what was going on. I came in and rebooted from back up no problem. He was super chill. Gave me a three warranty on parts and labor for the hard drive and cleaned the machine. I took it home and it is like a new computer. Def going back! Thanks Bart. read more

I went to A2 Computers because of all the raving reviews other yelp users had given the repair store. They gave relatively decent customer service and at least made an attempt to sound knowledgeable and helpful. Overall, though, their service was ineffective. I had a hardware problem with my PC and dropped it off at their store. They assured me that they would contact me within a day or two with the problem. I waited a week. After a week, I called the store and was told that they were busy but if I gave them my contact number, they would get back to me within 30 minutes. I waited another 3 hours before I called back and was told that they were just about to get on my PC. He continued to tell me that the guy assigned to my PC was delayed because of an off-site job that day. Never mind that that doesn't explain the week that the store had possession of my PC, when I went to pick it up, they gave me a cryptic diagnosis. They assured me that there was nothing wrong with my PC, but my power supply unit (PSU) was defective. They told me that they used a PSU of their own and it worked fine. Coincidentally, they took out their PSU before returning my PC and told me that they were out of stock on PSUs that would fit my system. I've since trusted their advice and replaced my PSU twice with high performance PSUs and my problem persists. My overall experience with them is very poor. At best, they're incompetent with good intentions. At worst, they scammed me out of $59, a week of my time, and who knows what else. I would not recommend them to anyone else. read more

Avoid this place. The owner was nice at the beginning. I was promised it would be quick repair. The diagnosis was quick and I agreed to order parts to repair my power button. I was told the repair should be done in a day and I would receive a call to pick it up. One week later, no call. I called them was told the part just came in and the repair would be done by the end of the day. I received no call. I called the next day at 1 pm and told that the tech who worked on my computer is out and that my motherboard is working and they replaced my DC input, which I requested...I DID NOT request that repair. I requested that the power button to be replaced. The owner quickly said he would call the tech to see what the deal is. Hands down best computer repair shop in Ann Arbor. The people there, unlike most computer shops, are completely honest with you and are there to help you. If you take it in for the computer diagnostic service, they will not even ask you if you want them to fix it! Amazing and hassle free. For $20, they will tell you exactly what is wrong with your computer, and then you can go fix it yourself. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Brought my old IBM laptop just to get cleaned. We agreed on $35. At pickup time, the price tag was $50, because they "had run a diagnostics". If this is part of the store's protocol, they should do it at their cost, or give clear warning about the charges. The sad part is that there were still considerable amounts of dust around the keys (and the CD drive as I found later on). The keyboard must come out to access the fan. Once the computer is taken apart, why would you leave dirt anywhere? There was dirt over the keys too, which I pointed out to they guy, who suggested the use of "Goo Gone" to clean them myself. My family has had computers repaired by A2 Computers several times and have generally had really good experiences. In fact, I previously gave them a 5 star review on Yelp. Unfortunately, our most recent experience hasn't been so good. I brought them a laptop that wouldn't boot up. Their ad promises diagnosis in one day or there's no charge. After nearly 48 hours and not hearing from them, I called them. They said, "Oh we're just starting it now," which actually sounded like they hadn't even begun. They called back with a diagnosis and I okayed them to back up the hard drive, reinstall OS and reload the data. One week later I STILL hadn't heard from them, so I called and learned it was "almost ready." On the 8th day, I stopped in to pick it up and it STILL wasn't ready. On the ninth day, I picked it up. When we got it home we couldn't find the backed up data, so we had to take it back in. It turns out the data was there, but we didn't know where it was. You would think they would have explained this when I first picked up the computer. So it took 9 days, 4 trips to the store, $150+, and some phone calls for them to clean up some viruses, and reinstall the OS and saved data. Not good. To make matters worse, they were pretty cavalier about the whole mess. I talked to a few different guys there and no one seemed very concerned. When I complained strongly, they did knock $25 off the price and gave me a $50 certificate to use on a future repair, but I don't know that we'll go back. read more

I have a DELL laptop recently having a problem "hard drive not installed". I went to A2 computers to recover the data, but I feel unhappy for their service. Here is my experience. 1. They are inefficient. If you are urgent for your computer repair, do not go there. They spent one day to do the diagnosis and another half day to put the components back. I only saw one person in the shop, there are probably another person in another room, but I never saw others even I went there two times and stay tens of minutes there. There may be only one technician in this shop (the front desk person should not be a technician), which should be the reason why this company is inefficient. 2. They may be not professional enough on repairing computer, especially for hard drive issues and for data recovery. If you have the hard drive issue or need data recovery, do not go there. After their diagnosis, the front desk person told me they tried many ways but still cannot access my hard drive. They said my hard drive has some serious issue in the inner part, which needs to open the drive if I want to repair it or recover the data. Because they have no clean room (a room with very less dust, the necessary environment for opening a hard drive and repairing it), they cannot recover my data. Their diagnosis conclusion makes me so anxious, because opening drive to recover the data means it may need long time and expensive cost, and some data may be lost. As I will give a presentation in two days and have a lot of important data in the drive, I am so anxious that I cannot fall sleep at that night. I have connected with some professional data recovery companies and made the quota (like outrack, driveSavers, and Gilware), it is really expensive, about $700 to $2700 for my data recovery and also need about two weeks. I have prepared to mail my drive to a company. But, but, but, but..., this is not the case for my drive. I am just on the off chance to go to my department IT room and talked about my hard drive issue. I was surprised that they easily connected my drive to a desktop through a USB box (I do not know its name) that could mount an outer hard drive to a computer, and the data copy also went well. They and me did not hear noise from my hard drive, so we think the drive may have some issue, but it should not be serious. Then, I do not know why A2 computers said they cannot access my drive even trying many ways, because mounting a drive to a computer is a very and very regular and simple way in data recovery, don't they try it? Through this way, I have already recovered all my data. So, I concluded that they may be not professional on hard drive issues or data recovery, or they lied to me (see the next point). 3. The third one, I have to say, may be my worst experience about A2 computers if it is true. A2 computers told me they can not recover my data due to the inner issue in the drive itself, and then suggested me to another company that has clean room to open the hard drive. A2 computers told me they are partner, if I recover my data in that company, I could have some discount. But even with this discount, it is still expensive (start from $800, I think it may charge me thousands of dollars). This suggestion looks fine, but when I talked about my experience with my friends, I was surprised. They warned me never go to the company suggested by A2 computers. I understand why they have this concern. Why? Because A2 computers may also get some benefits if I really go to the company they suggested. If A2 computers deliberately make a wrong diagnosis and suggest me to their expensive partner company, it is too evil. I do not want to believe this. 4. There is a prompt on the face of A2 computers website, that is "$9.99 Fall Diagnostic Special Mac or PC Save $40". I want to say it is a fraud, because they charged me $39.99. So, do not believe their advertisement. They did not repair my hard drive but just told me its issue, so I think what they did is just a diagnosis. However, this diagnosis is not $9.99 but $39.99. I argued with that front desk guy. What I understand from him is that, the diagnosis is truly $9.99, but if I want to know the diagnostic result, I must pay $39.99. If A2 computers did not tell me the diagnostic result, how do I know they did the diagnosis? So, the true cost for a diagnosis is $39.99, not $9.99. They made a fraud. In addition, their (probably deliberately) wrong diagnosis made me so stressful, I do not think they should charge me even the $9.99. 5. In my second time to their shop, I met another man whose computer is repaired by A2 computers one/two month ago, but the same problem comes again now. How is the repairing ability of A2 computers?! Other's and my cases are enough to show everyone the evidence. I never review any service before. But for this, I must write something, because A2 computers really made me so anxious no matter due to their wrong diagnosis or deliberately evil. read more

This place is horrible. They recently replaced the hard drive on my laptop because of a bad virus that had locked everything up. When I got the laptop back, the touchpad utility/controller was gone. I found a way to adjust the settings on it through Windows settings but couldn't turn it off when I plugged in my mouse like I used to. I called A2 this morning for suggestions and the guy who answered the phone cut me off before I could explain the situation and told me to "just bring it in." That should have been my first clue. When I got it in there, first he told me that I was wrong about ever having a virus and I had just had a bad hard drive - then when I let that go because it was besides the point he still didn't listen to me about why I brought the laptop in today. I wasn't complaining about their prior work, just saying I needed help finding the controller for the touchpad but he wouldn't listen. When he finally stopped defending his prior work long enough to hear what I was saying, he argued with me that there was ever a touch pad controller on my laptop in the first place. He repeatedly told me that he had been installing Windows for over 20 years and there is only one way to install it, there was never a touchpad controller and if something is wrong, I must have done it. He told me to go on the Dell website to see if I could find anything there. Even if there is something I can do to fix this issue, I brought it to A2 for help and they didn't even try to help. The clerk was rude, sarcastic and belittled me at every turn, in front of other customers even. His final comment to me when I was clearly exasperated with the situation was to shrug and say "you buy a dog you get fleas." Their website talks about 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. Well they clearly don't mean it because you don't treat someone like this and expect them to be satisfied. read more

Took my iPhone 6 here to get fixed. It had a broken screen and LCD, so the interface no longer worked. They fixed it up in a day with awesome results, and had GREAT customer service. The employee who serviced me was so kind and explained everything to me without being condescending, which was really cool! I called other places before this one and no one was nearly as nice as these people were. The employee even advised me that Apple could fix it for cheaper if I wanted to do that, but honestly I was so okay with the more expensive price when I knew it went towards paying such kind people. A2 Ann Arbor Computers on Rosewood @ Industrial in Ann Arbor refused to return my calls over two business days for a status report on my laptop which they had diagnosed. Upon getting my laptop back from A2 and disallowing them to do additional work, they refused an explanation or apology for their terrible service. This was the absolute worst customer service I have ever received in my life. I took my laptop to them to remove a virus that was putting fake ads all over websites when I browsed the internet. Their website advertised a fall special of $50 for virus removal, with a 90 day guarantee. I took it in on Thursday morning, and was told it would be done the next day, or maybe as late as Saturday. I am in grad school and in the midst of writing 15 papers for the end of the semester, so even this length of time was difficult to handle, but I wanted to get it cleaned up. They did not provide me a quote at the time or at any point before the service was completed, so I assumed $50 would be the cost. I called on Friday to check on it, and was told it wouldn't be ready until Monday, with no apology or explanation when I expressed frustration at the delay. Monday passed with no word, and on TUESDAY I finally got a call saying it was done. When I went to pick it up, first Mike tried to show me how browsing the internet was now virus-free, but could not get the computer to connect to the internet. He and another employee tried for probably about half an hour to connect the internet, reformatting things on the computer, re-installing drivers, before finally realizing that it might just be that their wi-fi was down. After concluding that it worked when plugged in with a wired connection, they told me I would just have to try it with my wi-fi at home and bring it back if it didn't work. Okay, finally ready to go, right? He goes to check me out and tells me that I owe EIGHTY dollars. Apparently the 90 day guarantee costs $30, and you are never given an option of whether you even want it or not. I tried to protest this but all he would say was that he did not set the prices, that the website might be outdated, and he couldn't do anything for me. He was very rude throughout. After I furiously forked over my credit card, I asked for my power cord, which I had given them when I dropped my computer off, and his response was "I GAVE it to you." Sorry, no. Another significant chunk of time was spent searching the store for my cord, and then it turned out the manager had taken it with him somewhere by accident, and would not be back for an hour. I had to have my fiance come back to pick it up later in the day. He did have a chance to talk to the manager, who he said was also not very nice, but he did manage to get the $30 warranty charge refunded. So, all stress aside, I thought I finally had my computer fixed for a decent price. It seemed to be clean. Then, today, three days later, ALL OF THE FAKE ADS ARE SUDDENLY BACK. All that stress, all that time having to borrow other people's computers to do my schoolwork, all that wasted time at the store because of the incompetent employees, and $50 of my limited funds, and it made ZERO difference. I'm not even sure if I should try to make use of my 90 day guarantee or if I should just spend the money to try somewhere else... read more
