Let me preface this review by saying that I gave this establishment a 1 only because I can't…read morefigure out how to not even give a . I will also state that I know this is a first world problem and that it has to do with my drone (which at the end of the day is a toy). In early August 2025 my drone had a crash. There were some repairs that were going to need to be done and right before I shipped my drone to Florida for a repair I came across MXT in Westland. Very excited that I wouldn't have to send it out of state, I dropped the drone off. I paid initially for an assessment and was assured this fix would be no big deal and they should only need it for at max two weeks. I of course was very relieved thinking I'd have plenty of time this fall to fly it. Let me just say, I just received it through the mail yesterday, more than two months after I initially dropped it off. Two weeks and two months are two totally different amounts of time. If I would have been told two months from the start it would have been a totally different story. I was patient for the first couple weeks and gave the benefit of the doubt in every excuse/reason before I started inquiring for the status after not hearing anything. Once I started making contact to try and get updates, I was told they had just received the new shell and that they had been sent the wrong one. I was given excuse after excuse and reason after reason why it hadn't been completed yet. After being assured it was complete and being packaged for sending out, it was then that they realized a landing gear was partially broke. I was called and asked if I wanted that to be fixed. I reiterated at this point that I want the drone repaired and as close to brand new as they could get it. I was assured that wouldn't be a problem and should just be a couple extra days. Couple days go by and no word. I call and find out the guy who fixes the drones was gone out of town and when he gets back he will be fixing it. Another week or so goes by and supposedly that had been fixed now and the only issue was when it was getting packed up for shipping (mind you I never even gave them my address because I was going to be picking it up) they found another cracked area at the base of one of the arms. Again I was asked if I wanted that fixed or just leave it to which of course I reiterated again I want everything fixed. They were going to do that and then it would be sent. I proceeded to contact this business probably 8-10 more times with verbal phone contact to have been told it was shipped and I would be receiving the tracking info. Only problem, I never gave them my address like I said because I was going to be picking it up. Oddly enough if you can believe this, one of the times I called to ask again for the tracking info I was told it got returned because of insufficient address details. You think? That's because they didn't have a clue what my address was because they had never asked me for it. I think after as many attempts as I had made (after not having my drone for two months) to find out what was going on with my drone, the owner finally shipped it USPS and sent me a tracking receipt. Of course I was excited by this point knowing that I had been told that everything had been repaired and was as close to brand new as they could make it. I received the drone and opened it up to basically find that 1.) the landing gear never got replaced and 2.) the cracked piece by the arm that had been discovered and was going to be fixed never got fixed. I attempted to call MXT and to as kindly as I could figure out what was going on in the midst of my major disappointment. The fact that it never got fixed wasn't the owners fault, he "thought" the work got done. I let him know that wasn't acceptable and he continued to push the blame on "the drone repair guy." If you own a business and you are the one who accepts an item for repair and you have your business' name on it, you better hold your people that you farm these jobs out to accountable and should inspect every job to ensure it's completion and operation before it goes back to the owner. I'm no fool and wasn't born yesterday. I know the reason why they wanted to ship it to me was so I wasn't standing in their "store" when I discovered that after more than two months the drone was not repaired. If I would have driven down to Westland to pick this up to then figure out that I was being lied to all along the way, I would have been even more disappointed, so thank you for sparing me that experience. I probably should have trusted my gut from the moment I pulled into the parking lot of this establishment. I should have never let this go on for more than two months only two still now be left with a drone that isn't repaired. No one enjoys being dragged through the mud or put through the wringer. I didn't need to be lied to and didn't need this level of dishonesty and then to have been hung up on twice when I called to voice my frustratio

I was referred to Data Recovery Group by a computer professional who said their success rate was very high. I took the failed drive and a replacement drive to DRG. They were able to recover all software from the failed drive and place it on the replacement drive in a couple day turn-around. Their prices aren't for the feint-at-heart, and they might be out of the reach of a typical home computer user. For me, it was a business decision and I was able to retrieve valuable files, so the price issue was a moot point. A great business to have right in the Metro Detroit area. I hope I never have to use their services again, but if I do, it will be with confidence that I avail myself of their services. Go to their web site to see a list of all the services they offer. They work on all operating systems, as well as various types of media storage. They can remove viruses from your drive, or system. Accidentally delete files or email - they can help you. Forensic data services are also available.

My backups were more casual, and not nearly as frequent as they should have been. In all of my years of building my own systems, I have never experienced a hard drive failure - until about 3 weeks ago...on a drive that held my most important data (tons of photos, my wife's business files and marketing collateral...and much more). Resigned to the fact that if I wanted my data (or a chance at it), I'd have to find a recovery company. I spent a few days doing detailed research and did not come up with any company I felt comfortable with (pricing, customer reviews...etc). I was referred to Data Recovery Group by a trusted friend, and after one call, I shipped my corrupted drive and a new donor drive - along with a little prayer for success. About 2.5 weeks later and I learned that these folks were able to save the majority of my data. They emailed me a text file of the directories and data to review, and to my surprise and delight, everything I was hoping for was there. Received my drives back today and quickly backed everything up to the cloud and 3 additional (local) places. Data recovery is not "cheap" by any means, but if you need your data back - I would recommend these fine folks without hesitation! I am very thankful for their services and results. Learn from my mistake - back up your data! At some point, your drive(s) will absolutely fail.
