I bought my last computer chair here about 10 plus years ago. It's finally about to die. It's peeling and uncomfortable. Time to upgrade! I found a really nice lazy boy chair that was discounted! I ordered the chair and had them assemble it at the shop. If you order on line and have it sent to the store the cost of assembly is $48.99. Ordering through the store is $14.99. Big difference in assembly costs depending on how you place your order. Really happy with the process at this store. The employees are really helpful. My only issue with this process after a purchase and assembly, is that when it came time to take the chair to my truck, he rolled it from the store to the truck. I could have done that. It scuffed the rollers and the wood thus voiding the warranty I'm sure. He proceeded to toss the chair into the back of the truck. I cringed. The leather is all scuffed. Grrrr. I had the bad luck of dealing with a petty, domineering, passive aggressive, control freak cashier named Ovais when I tried to return 5 spiral notebooks that I purchased from the Frisco location. I had the receipt for the notebooks with me, and he refused to accept the return. The five notebooks are the Staples® Accel, Durable Poly Cover 1 Subject Notebook, College Ruled, 8-1/2" x 11"which comes in 9 different colors for the cover. He told me that I may not return the notebooks to what he declared as "his store". He told me I may only return the notebooks to the Frisco store. The basis for his argument is that although the spiral notebooks were the same item and costed the same, each notebook cover was a different color and the Frisco location had scanned the purple color as the five items instead of scanning each notebook individually. I told him that it was not my fault that the Frisco location had scanned the notebook five times, and I should not have to drive all the way over there just to return the five notebooks. He told me I would need to take the notebooks back to Frisco to have them take care of it there. He will not be taking the return at "his store". When I asked to speak to the manager, he told me he is the manager. I told him I am going to report him, and he gave me his name and the number for the corporate office in such a way that he seems pretty confident that the Staples corporate office will back him up on this. So apparently, he believes that Staples corporate office would back him up that I would need to spend an hour round trip plus the cost of gas just to return notebooks that were not ringed up individually by color by another store location. This is why I characterize Ovais as a "petty", "domineering", "passive agressive" "control freak". And yes, I had to drive make an hour round trip plus gas to return the notebooks to the Frisco location. I am curious as to whether this is a Staple policy to literally give their customers the runaround based on their own mistake. You can bet I will be calling the corporate number and raising hell. read more

Shift manager (had diff color shirt than rest) at the store was very rude and condescending. Was trying to get an office chair, guy asked if it was for me, just looked at me and said "I would destroy" that chair in a very insensitive way, later he tried to make it sound like was being helpful he said I would destroy it in two months and that the chair was for small kids (it wasn't). The specs says it holds up to way above my weight. I'm chubby but very avg (size L clothes). Well that day he made me feel bad about my weight. I later bought that same chair at a different store. Have had it for more than 2 months, it's pretty much same as new - not "destroyed." I repeat this bc the way he said it and the facial expression was just so unprofessional and passive aggressive. read more

This store has had a bit of a redo inside; the "technology" area has been opened up and seems more spacious and less "stuffy". The remainder of the products seem sanely laid out and feature a good mix of Staples branded products (which, in my experience, are usually good, but I've had troubles with their packing tape not being as sticky as Scotch) and name brand. Prices are reasonable as well, but sometimes you feel like you're getting Costco-ized a little with the multi-packs. I've used the print center once for a small job; they handled it well and it looked good. They also do shipping services, but I haven't used them as yet. Access is pretty easy off of McDermott, and parking is decent due to it's being a "corner" store with a wide storefront. As far as personnel, I haven't really had to interact other than checking out, so I can't speak to that. read more

I went here to buy a label maker. I found them and as I was deciding which one, a sales associate asked if I needed help. I told him I was deciding between 3 styles. It was a no Brainerd because one was on sale for only $14.99. Wow, from 35 to 15. I grabbed the box under the display and yhe sales guy said 'no'. The salesperson looked confused and said he would look to see they were in the back. He came back and said they were sold out. While he was in the back I checked the sku on the display with the one I had grabbed. It was the correct one. I told him when he returned as nd he grumbled it should be in a dulifferent place. I started looking for the tape that goes inside but the sales dude just disappeared. I was frustrated at his lack of help so I just went to check out. The young man checking me out asked if I was a member so I gave him my phone number, he told me it was not the correct one. At this point, a manager type, heavy guy, started talking to the cashier about a customer service call, then an attractive young lady drinking a soft drink came up and started talking to him. I just wanted to pay and leave. Hello? Am I invisible? The young cashier asked again for another number, I gave him one. It was not in the system and he asked me if I wanted to join the blah blah blah. I said, no. He rang me up and I grabbed my label maker and left. I felt the sales associate was clueless, the manager guy was inconsiderate/rude and the attractive young lady was unprofessional. I guess I will be invisible. The copy center usually finishes my order far ahead of the time promised and is always accurate. The store is well stocked and items are easier to find as compared to other office supply stores. I purchased a laptop here on Presidents Day. This morning when we turned the laptop on the screen was black, and it would not boot up. We have only had this laptop two weeks! My husband knows a lot more about computers than I do so he did everything he could do to figure out what was wrong. He went to Staples, and told them about the black screen, and brought the receipt. My husband wanted to exchange the lap top for the same one. We felt it had to be defective. The man named Alfred Jackson said he could not exchange it because we purchased the laptop 15 days ago. He then told my husband he would have to pay them to do a diagnosis to see what was wrong with it. He said the man was a serious jerk!!! He was rude about the whole thing. My husband told him he was going to call the corporate office of Staples. Staples corporate apologized, and were surprised why the manager Alfred Jackson would not let my husband get an exchange. The corporate office said all Dell computers have a year warranty. The corporate office was even more surprised Alfred was forcing my husband to pay for a diagnosis. The corporate office took my husband's number, and said they will call back. We are waiting to see what the corporate office does. Update: corporate office called back, and said just to call Dell. He was interviewed by Jacob (store sales manager) and offered the job on the spot. He accepted the position that day and have been in contact with him and HR via emails. Yesterday he attempted to complete required paperwork and was stopped when adding his birth-date. Calls to Jacob have been ignored and calls to the store General Manager have been fruitless. He said he did not know the hiring age for his own store and was a quite rude when JR and I asked for clarification. He quit his job and is now out of a job with car insurance, phone bills... I went into Staples on Mcdermott Dr in Allen, TX last night and had an awful experience. I went to this particular location because they were the only one who had the particular item in the area. I went with the specific need of a iPad Mini 2 for my daughter's birthday I went to the area spoke with the associate and he went to the back to get my product. Once he came back with the box under his arm he told me that his manager told me I could not hold the box in my hand or examine it until purchased in a very rude way. If this is the case then he should have left the product at the register. He took one look at me and assumed that I was a thief and was going to take the product. I had my two year old in the shopping cart and still was stereotyped. Once at the register he proceeded to tell me that their was thefts in the area and I asked if it was because I am black? It's amazing how many times I have shopped at this location, have spent a RIDICULOUS (I can actually back up the ridiculous amount of money I spend at Staples...especially at this location) amount of money and on the rare occasion I should need to return an item, I receive the kind of treatment from the associates and store managers as though I didn't pay for it in the first place. Their return policy is to their discretion and decided by whatever the store manager decides at that moment. I didn't have a receipt. I paid regular price (YES, regular price) for the product. I used 22 of the 30 binders and needed to return 8. The manager on duty on October 19, 2015 at approx 10am gave me the equivalent of chump change in the amount less than half of what I initially paid for the binders because I had no receipt and used no rewards when I initially purchased them because I forgot to give them my number and their checkout associate didn't ask for one when they actually normally do ask. My fault, I know for no receipt and forgetting the rewards. But mistakes happen. But because of their unforgiving and ridiculous trade practices Staples has adopted, I will never, EVER spend one more penny in this store or any Staples again. I could have written many of terrible reviews in the past concerning this location and their lack of customer service. Some of the most unfriendly, unprofessional, non business like and complete lack of knowledge for their services and products I have experienced. To use their printing services, forget about it....I left and went to Fedex Kinkos. To use their UPS services, forget about it...I left and discovered an actual UPS store within the same shopping center. To buy shipping boxes...forget about as their associate had no idea where I could find them in the store...I left and went to Walmart. To pickup something I order online at the store location when they called to inform me it was ready for pickup at this store...I went to pick up the item, ended up leaving because they couldn't find it and told me to call them to see if they found it (instead of them calling me when they found it). To buy a chair and pay to have it built...I ended up returning the chair because it fell apart after I went twice to pick it up and it wasn't ready when they said it would be ready. I could go on and on and on and on with this Staples location. What I endured and put up with and they in turn gave me below half of what I initially paid.
