Staples / Party City side: I honestly feel bad for the workers here: they're overwhelmed and overworked. I came here for walk in balloons at the Party City and couldn't even place my order at the that register because it was broken. The lines were growing so long: only one person behind the register for both check out AND returns?! The supervisor was just answering questions. I told him that people were growing frustrated that there's not enough help at the front end, and he was dismissive of my concerns. People were walking out because they were done with the line. If you're looking to make a purchase, be wary of registers not working and willing to wait 30 minutes to make a small purchase that should've been a quick 5-10 minute errand. If management is looking to keep customers, install a self check out line or hire an additional employee or two and pay them well. UPS side: Happy returns are wonderful. Never had an issue with them. If you have an option to make returns with them, go for it! Fast, easy, what my staples experience should've been from the scenario above. read more

We came here to pick up some office items as we would not get them in time if we ordered them online. We came in to look for a few things and hoped we would be able to grab what we needed. We wandered around the store in hopes to find what we needed. We just wandered and wandered, because there were no associates on the floor to help us. We ended up finding what we needed, but not in an area where we expected them to be. Without any help, we found what we needed and made our way to the front to pay. The lack of employees effected this area as well. There was only one register open and a person doing a return. So much for making a quick stop. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at Staples that ultimately cost them a $400 sale. While we were in the aisle looking at toner, the store manager approached us and suggested we check the Staples app for available coupons. Acting on that guidance, we selected approximately $400 worth of toner and proceeded to checkout expecting to apply the discount. At the register, the experience broke down completely. The cashier showed no interest in helping us use the app or apply the coupon and stated she was not familiar with it. There was no attempt to assist, no effort to figure it out, and no escalation. The lack of engagement was striking. Her attention appeared to be on her phone rather than on the customer in front of her. We then asked the manager to step in. He was helpful and clearly trying to resolve the issue, but by that point the experience had already soured. The disconnect between being encouraged to use the app and the complete lack of support at checkout made the process unnecessarily frustrating. In the end, we walked away from the purchase and ordered the same items on Amazon instead. This was not a complicated request. If Staples is going to encourage customers to use its app for savings, front-line staff need to be both trained and willing to assist. Otherwise, it creates a frustrating and inconsistent customer experience that drives business elsewhere. read more

After submitting a print order days in advance, we decided to head down to the store as we had not received an update. As it turns out, Jesse from the Print Department was running solo and handling a ton of holiday orders. When we mentioned that we needed them for an event later that night, he said he would do his best to have it done about an hour before we would need them. Only a couple hours after speaking with him, he had it ready five hours ahead of schedule and really came through for us. Despite clearly being overworked and lacking support, he maintains a good head on his shoulders and goes above and beyond for every order. I hope corporate can alleviate some of that burden with some extra help, and gives Jesse a raise as he absolutely deserves it for all of his efforts! read more

I've had nothing but negative experiences at this store. Three years ago they ripped me off for $70 on a sign that looked terrible. I hadn't been back until two days ago when I really needed a printer and didn't want to wait to get it delivered from Amazon. Besides have to search and search and wait and wait for someone to help me. I finally get a guy who said he was knowledgable about the printers and could tell me more than what they say online. He then proceeded to mansplain EVERYTHING, such as: 1. Slowly read to me as though I were a child what the shelf labels said, which wasn't any more than I had read online. 2. Upsell like crazy. After I told him no THREE TIMES to the protection plan, he then went to trying to sell me more ink and lied saying "You only get starter ink". Nope, it was a full-size set of ink. 3. Then, he agreed to meet me up front after I went to buy a ream of paper. I get up front and he's nowhere. I finally find him in the main aisle, with my printer, but glued to his phone. 4. I tried to be polite through all of this, but when he carried the printer to my car and started to tell me how NOT to open my back hatch, I not so politely told him I had owned the car for 6 years and I think I know how to open the door. Today I'm returning the printer because it's absolute junk (Epson 4950). I'll be back to boycotting this store. read more

went in this staples on Sunday December 14th and it was ridiculous. The cashier had to keep calling a manager for help, line was seriously long, and I waited and waited and no response. Then here comes the manager coming from outside smoking and talking on the phone. The store is clearly understaffed and he's outside smoking? And you wanna know what's even worse, I came to use the copying machine the next morning and the same manager is outside in the corner smoking with 1 cashier in the store. This Staples location has most of the things that I need! Just wish that they stock on journals other than Moleskine, and preferably, a wider selection of name tags. Also, customer service could be a little better. For example, the workers could provide better instructions on how to find certain items. The store has very poor customer service. Cashier needs more training, and the Manager seems uninterested when concerns are raised.

If you shop here with a Target 150 yards away, you're making yourself look bad and people might make fun of you (and perhaps you deserve it). I just went there today (during the COVID-19 pandemic) and at least two of the cashiers HAD TO BE TOLD TO PUT ON THEIR MASK! One didn't have one, so had to walk away and pretend to look busy elsewhere. I went in to buy two 3-ring binders for which Staples charged $14.99 EACH. I found the same thing on Amazon when I got home and the price was $14.99 FOR FOUR. Talk about price gouging! This place is pathetic and should go out of business. Their employees (at least at this store) are lazy, unhelpful and if you have to be reminded to put on your mask WHEN IT'S THE LAW, then the management should be fired too! I hate writing this type of review because it sounds petty and vindictive and that's not how YELP should be used, and it's not my intention. Clean and tidy and very nice. I popped in for a refill notebook for my binder and was able to easily determine where it was, choose from the selection of two (black or gray) and make my purchase. Fast. I did take a quick look at the computers but nothing sparked my fancy. read more

Absolutely horrible management. Trying to get a passport photo printed for my wife who is deployed and unable to submit a passport on her own behalf. Passport manager tells me they can print photos for me; about a minute after, the manager informs me that they can't do that even though the photo technician said they could. Staples - Potomac Yards - Alexandria VA. Credit card was charged for an online order of a Lenovo PC. We didn't make the order. We disputed the charge immediately (within 1 minute of the charge being made). And canceled the card. Staples claims the charge is valid since someone subsequently picked up the order - so the credit card company won't consider it a fraud charge with Staples saying it's valid. Staples refuses to provide any evidence that they followed their process of checking IDs upon pickup. They have told us our only course of action is to contact the police (which we had already done) or to take them to court. Zero help, zero empathy, zero consideration for the consumer. Strongly recommend you take your business elsewhere. read more

Late post. Loved the customer service here. This one guy was so helpful and went out of his way to help me with such a small thing. I needed a desk ASAP and wanted one that was on display since it was already assembled and easier to carry out the door m, but he couldn't give it to me due to their policies. So he called a buddy over to help him assemble a new one like it right there on the spot. That was so awesome of him. Then he carried it out the door for me when I could've done it myself, and he took the time to fit it through one of my car doors and into my car, amidst all the other furniture in my car. That was so amazing of him. He went above and beyond with his customer service. I tried and TRIED to tip him $5, but he kindly refused and suggested I come back to the store instead of tipping him. read more

Typical Staples but odd layout where things aren't always where you'd expect. Checking out of here took FOREVER. They had only one register open and some crazy woman was trying to return a giant stack of folders for a total of about $2, without a receipt and without the credit card she apparently used to purchase this trove of items. After ten minutes during which a line of 5-6 of us has formed, they finally open a second register and leave this woman to continue to argue with the cashier. Manager yelling at the cashiers that there was a line, and I stand for a good twenty minutes waiting to pay for three items. The lady before me has issues, and is double charged for single items. After it is resolved, I step up and they do the EXACT SAME THING! I cancel my order and walk out. I will not go back. Ever. Neither should you. I went in to ship something. There wasn't really any at the UPS station so I picked out my own box and taped it up and stood at the print center. The lady was pretty short with me and another customer waiting. After ringing up my items, she went over and got the tape roll and rang it up. Instead of telling me that tape was not for customer use, she just added it to my tab and I had to clarify with her if it wasn't for customer use. She saw me use the tape, and didn't say a word the entire transaction. If the store had been tidier, items put away, and the associate a little nicer, I may not have made a $5 mistake. While my order for business cards was a hot mess when I arrived Glynnis and Caitlin went above and beyond to give me something acceptable to leave with. (I was last minute printing for cards I needed to hand out this AM) I will probably NEVER order business cards from here again because it was an absolute mess. The online ordering system showed all my content to the border but upon printing it seemed their cutting machine or printer was inaccurate. Also online i did not see an option explaining that one side of my card was matte and the other gloss which made my cards look cheap and crappy. BUT these ladies rocked it out of the park and worked with me to allow me to leave with presentable cards in hand. This location has 3 xerox machines for scanning and printing. Two are currently down and the one that is being used is having issues. There's currently a line and I'm amazed that a store that provides these services hasn't done anything to address this. I've been waiting 10 minutes. There's currently no line at the help desk in this area. It seems they have the capabilities to scan and print behind the desk but the three customer associates standing behind the desk are doing nothing to address this issue.... I would ask a store associate for assistance but when I asked about the other machines and whether they were out of order, I was dismissed and there was attitude. Helllllllo?? Where's the store manager? I just left because I didn't want to wait anymore. Came to staples because I thought it would be quick and convenient. Won't be coming here again. read more

I've never had any issues with this Staples. If I want cheaper stuff, I'll walk down the center to Target, but Staples at least has more specific items if I'm looking for it. In comparison to other Office Supply Stores, this one feels more welcoming and less warehouse-y, and it usually kept organized. Only one person works the copy center usually, since it's not like people come rushing in at the same time. It does mean, however, that if they're on the phone taking a phone order, you'll be awkwardly standing there for quite some time. Just a heads up. read more

Nonexistent customer service for the store when trying to determine the correct printer ink cartridge. Tried using the microscopic print catalog to identify the correct cartridge, but the packaging did not resemble the photo in the catalog. Even after taking the cartridge to the checkout counter for assistance, I was referred back to the lone customer service rep on the floor, who had already been assisting another customer for more than 20 minutes. I signaled him that I was back, and gave it another 5 minutes before giving up. Suggest OfficeMax or OfficeDepot if your purchase might need any human interaction. read more

This is a Staples without a working heavy duty stapler in the copy/print self-service area....how ironic. I'm often here to use the self-service printers, which are convenient when they are up and running. This week, I printed a 47-page document and forgot to choose the staple finishing option. I attempted to use the staplers available but the stack printed was too thick. I spotted a heavy duty stapler behind the counter and was told it didn't work. The employee said, "We use to take staplers off the shelf but customers kept breaking them so we don't do that anymore." Wow. I spoke to a manager who told me I would need to buy a stapler...for 47 pages...really? I think he misunderstood me. I said, "I printed these documents here, there isn't a stapler in this store to accommodate stapling the packet, so I must buy one?" He said they offer the service in the copy print center, for customers who have work completed on site and request stapling. I still don't think he understood me. After further explanation, He mentioned they would have to order a replacement because replacing the stapler with one from the shelf was no longer permissible. I can understand that, I just think the situation could have been handled differently. You can tell customer service/ satisfaction is an issue here. I'm also sure that if I return (I will give it two weeks) a replacement would not have been made. read more

Warning - long rant ahead. Get your coffee. Don't go here. I'd give it 1/2 * if I could. Dropped off a huge print job (double sided color printing on 200 sheets of expensive cardstock I bought from Paper Source) for an upcoming wedding. I got there early tat 8am to beat back to school crowds. The lady - I know her name but won't mention it - said it would be a 1 1/2 hour job but she'd call me nevertheless when it's ready. Waited till noon. No call. So I called back and she answered and angrily told me again that she'd call me. Waited till 5pm. Nothing. At which point I decided I'd head back soon and pick it up and try another Staples. And then voila - I got an email at 5.30 saying print job was ready. Went right away and to my horror found they hadn't even started it. It was on the counter just as I had left it. The same lady was there working on other stuff. When I told her I had gotten an email she seemed surprised as said she didn't sent it. But she'd do it while I waited. 1/2 hour later it was done. She was doing it in batches of 50. I quickly looked at the top few and voiced my concern that the colors were not as bright as the original. She said the paper mutes it. Whatever. But then to my delight she said since I had to wait so long and wasn't too happy with the outcome she'd waive the charges. I said I'm happy to take a discount and she didn't need to waive all charges but she insisted and said I was done I could leave . So somewhat happily I left. Yesterday our family got together to assemble them. We had to overlay with transparent vellum, punch holes and tie bows to all. And then HORRORS!!!! One batch of 50 was wrongly printed. The back page was upside down!!!! Is that why she shooed me off in a hurry? So today I'll be heading back to find out what they can do about this!!! Will update you all. Ugh ugh ugh!!!!! read more

The absolute worst customer service. I walked into Staples ready with my credit card to buy a computer and ended up walking out because the man I was told was the manager on duty last night was so inept at his job I didn't have the confidence this store would be able to do the job right. He entered my information wrong into the computer and couldn't figure out how to change it. He asked me to sign a document to buy the product and I said I wasn't going to sign anything with incorrect information. I needed the computer guaranteed to be ready next day as I live overseas and am leaving in 2 days. He verbally said it would be ready, but the document said it would be ready the day after I flew out. I told him if it wasn't guaranteed in writing I wasn't going to buy it. He spent so much time trying to figure out his own computer, calling people to help him and still not getting things right, that after over an hour I walked out. I can't believe this was a manager. If he's the one running the show, god help this store and his employees. He literally had no idea what he was doing, how to enter information into his own computer, let alone help someone purchase their own. I'm heading to Best Buy this morning to buy a computer and suggest you skip this store and head straight there as well. They're next door, so wave on your way over. read more

So what I dont understand is why they reorganize the store DURING BUSINESS HOURS. WTF. We were looking for a touch pad for our computer and it happened to be in the area they were reorganizing. FOUR people tried to help us find it, and finally after 20 minutes of my life wasted, we go to the cashier and ask her. She looked like a zombie who didn't give a rats about you and said I'll get manager. The manager comes and says "Why dont you look for it yourselves" umm excuse me? Is that how you treat your customers? He didn't even bother looking up the inventory on the computer to see if the item was in stock. Jerk. The store is a mess, it looks like they have the minimal items and it just looks like its going out of business. Its grim and just wasted 30 minutes of my life in this store.
