I have gone to several UPS stores for services over the years. Every time I visit this particular store, I am impressed by the level of customer service, from the courtesy to the recommendations n services to ensure the safe arrival of my boxes. It is not just one person; it is every member of the team. The morale is high. So I drive pass another UPS to this UPS store on Duke Street, park in lot and walk into store that feels like they really do want to help make sure my package not only gets there, but gets there in tact. This store has fast and friendly service and is generally clean and organized. I usually go for returns and have minimal contact but I've also gone for passport photos and used a coupon. It was not the same price that was listed online - it was higher, but the coupon made it close to the online price. I feel like they should have honored the online price as a matter of customer service, so I was disappointed because using the coupon with the online price would have been a great deal. The pictures were fine though. They did a decent job, no wait although it was busy. Parking lot can get active with various food delivery services picking up from restaurants but I always find a spot. read more

I've been to many UPS stores to print items from email. Never a set up fee. 4 pages at 29c was fine but the total was almost $4...set up fee $3 for 4 pages. Deceptive and should be criminal shame on you. Email to gmail instead of ups store. Sounds fraudulent! Never coming back! read more

8/22: do not use the computer here as it overcharges you and the staff can do nothing about it!!! i used the computer for 5mins and was charged $8 for 11mins!!! ripoff!!! Edit 8/29: if I could give negative stars I would- I am not stupid nor am I ignorant and telling me some ridiculous excuse about how the unit works versus actually trying to resolve the issue is amazing to me. I did not extend my time on the unit, i only spent 3-5 minutes on the unit, and I was charged for 15 minutes. WHY would I extend my time multiple times if I only spent 3-5mins on it? Don't you think that's a little odd? On top of staff telling me they don't control the computer on site, and they can't time my use on the unit (like I even asked for that) I've been patronized enough talking w these people to make me v upset and I'm very I'll right now so I'm no longer in the mood to be graceful. This place definitely deserves 5 stars! Located in the Alexandria Commons in the eastern corner (near Panera), the staff members here have always been welcoming and super efficient! They are all about speedy quality service with a smile, and they really value your time! They have various shipping and delivery options available, and even offer printing services for Amazon return labels - how convenient is that? Absolutely ridiculous service. There we're two teenage boys running the store. They called a customer an "old head" behind their back when they entered the store. I have NEVER had an experience like this at any other shipping location. I put a package in the mail last week and they still have not processed it. WORST customer service ever! Came in and there were two people working. One person assisting a customer and the other standing in the middle of the floor in the store who had just finished assisting a customer on the computer. I came to send a return item back via UPS asked if the label could be printed was told there's a $2 minimums to use the computer and the same applies to email them and have the label printed by the store.... sorry I had the same expectations of UPS as FedEx but it his was a first. The store had signs on the computer the minimum for use was $2.... I wasn't using their computer just wanted to have a label for a UPS item provided.... weird business model. Slack on the customer service to make $2. Ok! Appreciate the reply still not looking for self service computer use but rather customer service to mail a package which isn't self service. read more

i went to the UPS store on Duke St. in the Alexandria Commons shopping center to have copies made. I provided my own paper and they still charged the same rate as if they had used their paper. I managed a copy center and the rate they are charging per copy is high at 14 cents a copy. I would suggest using Staples or another vendor. I will never go back. read more

Completely wasted my time, letting me wait in line for 10 minutes knowing they couldn't ship packages because their internet is down (but can somehow process drop offs and provide tracking receipts) without making an announcement as to the impact of their loss of internet. Then they told me to get back in line since it was only that workstation and not the whole store that was down internet ( I remember this vividly because those were the exact questions I asked) only to be told, after waiting in line again, that it was actually the whole store that was down. read more

I stopped by a few weeks ago to drop off a package. The employees were pleasant enough, but the owner came in and proceeded to walk through the store muttering under his breath, and then could be heard at the back of the store loudly chastising employees about the store being messy, dirty etc. People can have bad days, but the negativity makes me think I won't come back to this location. read more

I've had a mailbox here for over five years and the staff is wonderful. Matt and the team go above and beyond. They help me with heavy boxes to my car, notarizing documents, etc. It's super helpful to not worry about packages being left by the front door and picking them up in one place when it's convenient for me. I am an Australian who has worked Asia-wide for over 35 years. I was visiting our daughter here in Alexandria, VA over Christmas and had to get a lengthy corporate registration, passports, etc. notarized. Within Asia, one would either have to go to a law office (hours & $$$) or a "fly by night" type on the street. Neither option is preferable. I was surprised to learn that one could get it done in UPS here in the U.S.. So I visited your UPS store at 3213 Duke Street and they were busy, i.e. before X-mas. When MATT finally had the time to work with me on a lengthy notary issue, it took about twenty minutes to complete the process. I found Matt to be very professional and focused, but with a very patient and "can-do" attitude. While he was working my documents, I watched the other attendant, NICK, serve multiple customers with multiple personalities, some unique to say the least. He was so very professional and focused as well, also patient in his interaction with each, even those requiring more patience than usual. On my recent return visit to our daughter here in Alexandria, I needed to get a couple more documents notarized so visited your store again on March 26th and today, April 2nd. On both occasions, I found Matt and Nick to be just as professional and patient as they were last December. I am 71 years of age, managed Asia-wide companies and operate my own in the Philippines, dealing with many many retail types over my lifetime. I cannot remember any small retail operation's staff, with that much walk in traffic operating at such a high level of superior level customer service. To say the least, MATT and NICK are "keepers" as we'd say "down under;" and the owners are fortunate to have them represent their franchise on the front lines. I made a reservation on line for passport photos for my wife and me. when we arrived, we were told that the person who took the photos was not there and then we were told their camera was broken. when I told them I had a reservation they denied any responsibility and said that was at the corporate level and not them. however the web site provides for reservations for this particular store. that did not seem to bother them at all. it was an effort to get to this store and insulting to be so casually dismissed as if it was not their problem. read more

I was a bit skeptical that my short turn around time would possible, and he went above and beyond to keep me in the loop and reassure me of my orders status. When something went wrong for them on the day of my pickup, Jesse called early in the morning to let know exactly when my item would be available. This location is where I go when I need to make sure something arrives on time. That may be totally groundless, there's probably no difference between one location and another, but the two guys I've encountered that work here (one middle-aged and one younger guy) are so competent and efficient, as well as generally being very polite, that it inspires confidence! And in fact, everything I've sent from here has arrived on time, as far as I can recall. I hate shipping stuff, but end up doing quite a bit of it, so it really helps. read more

I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to the Duke street UPS store (Jessie, Ashley and his name starts with M). They made taking my passport pictures and sending my documents so EASY!! I first spoke with Jesse and let him know I needed my passport pictures in a certain size and he said no problem and got the camera set up for M. I came in at 3:20pm, M took my pictures, printed them out and started quoting the shipping cost with 5 minutes!!! Then Ashley ended up finishing the transaction, smiling and pleasantly chatting the whole time. She found an excellent airmail price so it would be there by Monday. Just wanted to thank Matt for his excellent customer service today. I think he's the owner as well. I had to take a driving test on their computer today, long story short I was in the store for a little over an hour. I've been to the regular government "post office" around here for decades and it's always slow paced, comatose workers, long long lines, workers not too friendly etc and I always feel like I'm almost working for them?! This place is different, very helpful and was BUSY! Matt and the employees knocked the customers packages out quickly and efficiently and with a helpful attitude. What a turn off. Brought two packages in with prepaid packages. I just needed some tape to tape of one side of the box. The clerk said tapes are for sale and pointed me to the wall of tapes. SERIOUSLY, you are a shipping company, I just need some tape for my box. I don't need to buy an entire roll of tape for that. Way to think about long term growth for your business. Very poor customer service!!!!!! Everytime I go in here to drop off a package that already has a prepaid label on it, they are so rude and lazy. I ask for a receipt and it seems like it's such a problem! Give me what I asked for!!!! Unfortunately this store is right on my drive home and I refuse to out of my way for another location because they act like j-rks! However as a SBA owner I would never give them my business by paying to have something shipped, I only go there when I order something online and it needs to go back with a prepaid label. I've been to several other location in the area that have great customer service....heck my UPS drivers are much more pleasant!!!! read more

This place has no idea what it's doing. If you print your own label and package your shipment yourself, they're fine. But if you have any questions regarding shipping, they're completely unhelpful. I was told that they couldn't ship any perfumed items because they were considered flammable. But mine was an oil, not a pressurized aerosol container or alcohol-based product, so I called UPS to be sure I wouldn't encounter any problems and they said shipping an oil (perfumed or not) was totally fine. So I promptly went to the UPS on S. West street in Old Town and got amazing service--just in time for my package to make it home for Mother's Day. Basically, don't take "No" for an answer from these folks if you're pretty sure you're right. Some people are just incompetent at their jobs. read more
